Changji is located in the northern foothills of the Tian Shan at the southern edge of the Dzungarian Basin. Changji is home to many national-level tourist attractions, such as the Heavenly Lake and the famous ruins of the Beijing Protectorate, which dates back to the history of the western regions of the Han Dynasty when it was founded. Tianshan Tianchi is a quintessential attraction in Xinjiang. The park is located within Fukang, Changji Prefecture, about 110 kilometers from the Xinjiang capital of Ürümqi.
