Taohua Island

Taohua Island is surrounded by water, not far from the confluence of Zhangjiang River and Gongjiang River. The island is covered by peach trees. It is very beautiful when peach blossoms are open every year, hence the name. Residents on the island are immigrants from the reservoir area of the Wan'an hydropower station. The houses are no longer on the island, but the orchards and vegetable fields are still on the island. Driving a light boat, coming from their new home beside the banks of the Minjiang River to the island for farming, has become their unique way of life. Through the active preparation for the construction of the Dahu River National Wetland Park, the county has incorporated the Taohua Island into the overall planning of the Dahu River Water Golden Tourism Course, and strives to create a theme park with cultural characteristics of peach blossoms and cultural leisure tourism.
