Stone Town, transliterated as Gordes, is a town built on a mountain in Provence, located in the south of the Vaucluse ridge, 370 meters above sea level, facing the Luberon Mountains. Most of the buildings in the town were built in the Middle Ages. They were accumulated from the granite on the mountain, and they were entrenched together in a trapezoid shape. From a distance, they looked like houses in the sky. The unique architectural style and special geographical location make this town present a charming charm, which attracts countless tourists to visit. Due to the complex terrain, whether by car or on foot, it takes a tortuous mountain road to get here from the outside world. Here, you can quietly feel the tranquility and vitality brought by the castle, the church, the stairs and the blooming flowers around. The main attractions recommend Gordes Castle and Church (Lechâteau et l'église de Gordes) Gordes Castle and Church are located on the south side of the town's central square, overlooking the town to the south. The castle existed in 1031 and was rebuilt in 1525. Abbayede Sénanque and Lavender Fields This abbey was originally built in 1148 and is located in a valley 3 kilometers northwest of the town of Gordes. The flower field of the monastery is a famous lavender viewing spot in the area, attracting many local newlyweds. Stone House Village (VillagedesBories) This is a small remote village located 1.5 kilometers southwest of the town of Gold, where there are about 20 buildings made of stone. These stone houses can be traced back to the land reclamation and planting movement in Provence in the 18th century. For the convenience of labor, a large number of people transported stones from the flat to the mid-levels to build these houses. The hill to the east of Shiwu Village is a good place to enjoy the panoramic view of Gorde.
