What people are saying:

This is the earliest ironclad ship in the United States, relying on it to capture Fort Pillow during the Civil War. But it was later sunk by a remote-controlled landmine from the southern army. It was salvaged in the 20th century and put on display in a military park.

    Wish it had been open.

Was not open, so could not get close. But even so it was a good view and worth the trip. Certainly an interesting naval and civil war vessel.

    Visitor center closed

An amazing artifact. So disappointed that the visitor center is still closed. Had to go to Wikipedia to learn more. Fascinating story. Hope we’ll get back some day.
