Yellowstone National Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Spend a night at Yellowstone National Park
Why would you go to a natural hot spring when you have a hot tub at home?🛁
Because hot springs are actually natural wonders, not just mineral-rich waters that have accumulated in pools or been channeled into man-made spas. Grand Prismatic Spring is the biggest hot spring in the United States and the third largest in the world. The center of the spring is sterile due to extreme heat about 188.6 degrees Fahrenheit, resulting in a deep blue color, surrounded by rings of color ranging from green to red, which is caused by bacteria that flourish in the warm, mineral-rich waters.
🏊♀️Despite the fact that swimming is prohibited for obvious reasons, this is one of the most photogenic thermal phenomena on the planet.

Grand Teton National Park
Half-day tour of Grand Teton National Park | The most comprehensive guide
After visiting Yellowstone National Park, I personally feel that the overall experience of Grand Teton is better. Although the geysers of Yellowstone are indeed shocking, Grand Teton, which is not picky about the weather, attracts me more. Even on cloudy days, casual shots are very photogenic. The prairie, snow-capped mountains, sky, everything is too harmonious.
Grand Teton Moments:
📍Pictures 1-2 - Mormon Row
A few abandoned old barns, very photogenic. There are many holes dug by prairie dogs on the grassland. They will drill out of the holes from time to time, super cute. Picture 3 is a baby prairie dog.
📍Picture 4 - Schwabacher Landing
There is a trail along the river, not very long, you can go down and take a walk.
📍Picture 5 - Oxbow Bend
I personally feel it is a very good point for shooting sunrise and sunset. Because of time, we just checked in there and left.
📍Picture 6 - Snake River Overlook
The trees have grown leaves in summer, so it's a bit blocked, but it doesn't affect. When we went there, they said there were two bears by the river, but because we didn't buy binoculars, we didn't see anything. For those who are interested in animals, remember to prepare binoculars in advance.
📍Picture 7 - Jenny Lake
Jenny Lake is a smaller lake south of Jackson Lake. There is a trail along the river. You can also take a boat to the other side of the river. The adult boat ticket is $12 one way and $20 round trip. Children under 11 are $10 one way and $12 round trip.
📍Pictures 8-9 - Jackson Lake Lodge
I highly recommend this hotel. We booked a regular lodge, $461 a night. The hotel lobby has large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the snow-capped mountains. There are also restaurants and souvenir shops in the lobby, where you can buy binoculars, but they are more expensive than outside, it is recommended to buy in advance. Looking at the photo wall of the hotel, it is worthy of being built with more than 5 million US dollars 70 years ago. You can also ride horses in the hotel if you are interested.
🚗Tour route: Jackson Lake Lodge - Oxbow Bend - Snake River Overlook - Schwabacher Landing - Mormon Row
*From Jackson Lake Lodge to Oxbow Bend, there is a junction to the right to Jenny Lake. On the way, you will pass Jackson Lake Dam, fishing enthusiasts can go down to the river to fish.

Unique American Attraction - Mammoth Hot Springs
The Mammoth Hot Springs in the United States is a unique natural hot spring resort, surrounded by natural forests, as if in an unpolluted primitive world. The fresh air is filled with the unique scent of the hot springs. The most famous of Mammoth Hot Springs is its unique thermal terrace landscape, where the hot springs flow down the hillside in sections, layered like terraces, which is a great spectacle.
♨How to play at Mammoth Hot Springs?
Mammoth Hot Springs is divided into Upper Terraces and Lower Terraces. The Lower Terraces have a boardwalk for visitors to walk & tour, the boardwalk is very easy to walk, you can see all in about an hour, with the famous Liberty Cap, Palette Spring and Minerva Spring. The Upper Terraces is a road about 2.5 kilometers long for visitors to drive 🚗. You can park your car in the parking lot of the Lower Terraces, and go to the Upper Terraces after visiting the Lower Terraces. If time is tight, it is recommended to visit the more famous Lower Terraces first, especially the Palette Terrace and Jupiter & Mound Terraces at the entrance of the trail.
I arrived at one or two in the afternoon, and the parking lot was almost full. The flow of people feels much more than the attractions on the east side of Yellowstone.
⚠Note: It is best to go at noon or in the afternoon, otherwise the temperature is too low in the morning and evening, and the mist of the hot springs will make it unclear
The super cool Mammoth Hot Springs, a treasure spot in Yellowstone Park
Mammoth Hot Springs♨️ in Yellowstone National Park is the most popular geothermal wonder. It is located on the east side of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and is one of the largest hot springs in the park. Mammoth Hot Springs is known for its incredible colors and grand scale.
It is the largest known carbonate deposit hot spring in the world. The landscape is mainly composed of limestone terraces, also known as hot terraces, which can be divided into Upper Terraces and Lower Terraces. The spring water of Mammoth Hot Springs♨️ comes from the Norris Geyser Basin, with a temperature up to 77℃. Many algae live in the hot springs, making the color of the hot springs brown, orange, red, and green. The flowing hot springs rush down the terraces with different colors, forming a colorful large terrace, the scene is very magnificent .
In addition to its eye-catching colors and scale, Mammoth Hot Springs♨️ also shows the magical power from the depths of the earth, with hot water continuously gushing out from the ground, forming a magnificent pool. The temperature in this pond is extremely high, giving people a unique visual and sensory experience.
In addition to its magnificent color, Mammoth Hot Springs is also eye-catching for its huge scale. Its diameter is about 60 meters and its depth is more than 30 meters. The color stairs around the hot springs form a fascinating scene, attracting countless tourists to stop and watch.
Mammoth Hot Springs was the first major attraction we saw, it was really spectacular! From a distance, it is a white terrace landscape with colors in the middle! It reminds me of Jiuzhaigou, but it's a completely different beauty!
📝Of course, when visiting Mammoth Hot Springs, you must follow the guide's arrangements and pay attention to safety! Because the water temperature is extremely high, it is kept above 80℃ all year round. Therefore, visitors must strictly abide by the park's warnings and safety instructions , and must not approach or attempt to touch the hot springs.
Mammoth Hot Springs MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS: Located in the northwest of Yellowstone Park, it is the largest proven carbonate sedimentary hot spring in the world. Looking at Mammoth Hot Spring from a distance, it looks like a mountain covered in white snow, but when you get closer, you find that it is the perfect combination of Pamukkale and Huanglong.
The snow-white and dark-yellow steps formed by the hot springs are like terraced fields. When the hot spring gushes out from the limestone layer, the hot water will dissolve the calcium carbonate in the limestone into the water. When the water flowing out of the surface cools down, the calcium carbonate in the water will condense and deposit into a lime platform because it is too saturated. When the underground outlet hole is blocked by accumulations, the spring water will flow to other outlets to form another platform. The spring water deposited in the platform is affected by the activities of algae and microorganisms, so it forms yellow, white, brown and other colors, and the layers are stacked to form "travertine steps".
It is a pity that after a crustal movement in Mammoth Hot Spring in 2002, most of the hot springs stopped their activities, resulting in the death of a large number of microorganisms, which made the Mammoth Hot Spring lose its color, and the dead bacteria also turned into off-white powder, which remained in the On the great dry steps. Reflecting the dazzling sunlight, it turned this place into a barren land of austerity. In a few years, the hot spring ruins will further collapse and turn gray, and even the white steps may not be visible.

Thumb Geyser Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
West Thumb Geyser Basin
🌟Highlights:
West Thumb Geyser Basin: Located on the edge of Yellowstone Lake, it was formed due to the collapse of the earth's crust 150,000 years ago. Under the combination of hot springs and lake water, a wonderful spectacle of smoke appears: the smoke is the steam of the hot springs, the green waves are the water of Yellowstone, and they are reflected with the blue sky and white clouds in the background, forming a different landscape from other hot spring areas in Yellowstone. This place is equivalent to the bay of Yellowstone Lake. Many geysers gather here. The colors of the water outlets are diverse. Some are transparent green, and some are dark black like cement. Numerous water outlets present a beautiful fantasy.

Explore Yellowstone | West Thumb Basin
Explore Yellowstone: West Thumb Geyser Basin |||Entering Yellowstone from the south gate, the first main scenic area you will see is the West Thumb Geyser Basin. Located on the west side of Yellowstone Lake, West Thumb is named after the thumb-like protrusion into the lake. This basin was formed by a volcanic eruption about 174,000 years ago, and later filled with water from Yellowstone Lake, creating the West Bay we see today. As a result, active geysers can still be seen in the lake water along the shore.
Dozens of intermittent springs and hot springs of the West Thumb Geyser Basin are distributed around a circular boardwalk that runs southeast to northwest. Park your car and take a counterclockwise stroll.
At the southern end of the plank road, there are two pools called Seismograph Pool P2 and Blue Bell Pool P3. These two pools were originally called Blue Pool. After the 7.5 magnitude earthquake in Yellowstone in 1959, some people believed that the current Seismograph Pool may have recorded abnormal activity during the earthquake, so it was given the two names it has now.
The hot springs here range from over 30 degrees to over 93 degrees. Don't be fooled by the calm lake-side P4 hot spring, there may be hidden dangers.
The two protruding banks on the shore are the intermittent spring P5 between the lake banks, which had a maximum eruption of 15 meters in the early last century.
At the corner of the boardwalk, there is a black pool P6. Originally, thermophilic bacteria in black-green and brown grew in the pool, so the pool looked black. However, in the summer of 1991, the water temperature of the pool rose and killed these bacteria. Now the black pool we see is sapphire blue.
Across from Black Pool is a beautiful deep pool called P7-9, which reaches a depth of 16 meters and is one of the deepest hot springs in Yellowstone National Park. The water temperature of the pool reaches 77 degrees and the color changes between emerald green, sapphire blue, and other colors with time and light.
If you come to visit Yellowstone Park, then you will not disappoint the West Thumb Geyser Basin in your must-go list. In the West Thumb Geyser, you can not only see the various forms of geysers, but also the Yellowstone Lake with the mountains as the background.
Sim refers to the Geyser Basin, which is located on the edge of Huangshi Lake. It was formed by the collapse of the earth's crust 150,000 years ago. Under the combination of the hot fountain and the lake, there is a wonderful landscape of smog: smog It is the steam of the hot springs. The green wave is the lake of Yellowstone, which reflects the blue sky and white clouds in the background, forming a different landscape from other hot spring areas in Yellowstone.
There is a wooden paved viewing trail where visitors can walk along the trail and watch the colorful geysers.
Half ice lake, half hot spring, snow mountain in the distance, in front of the pot. Looking up, blue sky, snow and mountains, there is a feeling of unreality.
