Legendary Land Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
The lights are brilliant, allowing time to travel through a thousand years
Zhumadian has a history that includes emperors from different eras such as Emperor Guangwu of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Liu Xiu, Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty, Tuoba Hong, King Cao Biao, Zhao Yiluan of the Jia Dynasty, and Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, who lived here, conducted inspections, made secret visits, and stayed incognito;
Additionally, in Zhumadian, there are numerous legends about 'Wang Ran supporting Liu Xiu' and stories from the Eastern Han period about 'Liu Xiu saving the imperial post station,' which are widely circulated among the people;
Moreover, during the reign of the Ming Chenghua Emperor, Zhu Jianze's brother Mi Jian Shen was ennobled as the ruler of Runan. When Emperor Chenghua passed through the Zhumadian post station on his way to the south to suppress a rebellion, and after returning victorious, he stopped again at the Zhumadian post station, which was an important logistical supply station for the campaign. To thank the people of Zhumadian for protecting the imperial treasures and assisting in quelling the rebellion, he granted the post station the status of an imperial post station.
As the lanterns light up, the classical architectural style allows time to travel through the ages. Come, let's go and see what the post station looked like a thousand years ago.

In the spring of March, one's heart is captivated at the post station
Along the banks of the Lian River, the spring scenery grows even richer. The willows sway gently, the crabapple trees bloom, and the green peach and apricot flowers are in their full glory. Although the plum and peach blossoms have faded, the beautiful scene remains. The rapeseed flower fields are also a sight to behold, captivating the hearts of those who pass by.

Zhumadian has the reputation of being the 'belly of Henan, the center of the world', so it is also known as 'Heaven in the Middle'. There is a must-visit attraction--the Royal Post Station. What is royal? It is said that Emperor Gaozu of Han Liu Bang once stationed here, and Ming Xianzong Zhu Jian deeply saw his brother Zhu Jianze here to set up a horse post. What is a post station? This place is convenient for transportation, with officials and merchants gathering from all directions, and postmen shuttling back and forth.
The scenic area takes post station culture as the core, integrates Zhumadian's intangible heritage, folk customs, and food culture, and the open areas include Canal Water Street, Time Post Lane, Beichen Gate, Post City Old Street, etc.
Every corner of the stroll exudes a strong historical and cultural atmosphere. This place is not only suitable for walking around, tasting food, but also for deeply exploring China's long history and cultural heritage.
This place not only has a group of ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, but also many ancient trees, ancient bridges and other places worth visiting. There are also many characteristic snacks and handicraft shops on both sides of the street. The entire post station retains the historical appearance of the ancient town. Mount Chaya in Zhumadian, Henan | One of the filming locations for Journey to the West
Mount Chaya, a 5A-level tourist attraction, is located in Suiping County, Zhumadian City, Henan Province. The TV series Journey to the West was once filmed here, making it the largest attraction in Suiping County.
As soon as you enter the scenic area, you are greeted by statues from Journey to the West, even the trash cans are themed with characters from the show.
🌟Attraction Features:
1⃣️Many people in Wuhan have not heard of Mount Chaya, but it is the famous filming location of Journey to the West.
2⃣️The scenic area's main attraction is its rocks; there are various strange and naturally formed rocks, and the experience of walking through this 'stone forest' is truly unique in the country. There are huge rocks that resemble monkeys, as well as the Pipa Rock, among others.

Yanqi Mountain--One of the filming locations of Journey to the West
This is the easiest mountain I have climbed, and also the one with the most surprises. This is one of the filming locations of the 1986 version of 'Journey to the West', located in Suiping, Zhumadian! Before coming here, I never thought that just by stones, a mountain's beauty could be upheld. In the winter when the vegetation is withered, looking at the strange rocks and peaks is really the best choice for a trip. The altitude here is not high, and there are no particularly steep steps. Along the way, I saw many children and elderly people climbing. This trip to Zhumadian really brought me too many surprises! Zhumadian is very good, I will come again next time!

Nanhai Temple Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Visit the 'Largest Temple in Asia' for blessings—Nanhai Zen Temple
Location: Runan County, Zhumadian City
Time: 8:00-17:00 (Entry stops at 16:00)
Parking: 10 yuan/day
Nanhai Zen Temple
One of the 'Eight Scenic Spots of Caizhou' from the Ming Dynasty, it is the largest Buddhist temple in Asia with exquisite carving art and a magnificent presence.
Locals call it 'Little Nanhai' because it was renovated in imitation of the Putuo Temple in the South Sea, but on a smaller scale, hence the nickname.
Mahavira Hall (three-layered eaves)
The main building, Mahavira Hall, is larger than the Hall of Supreme Harmony in the Forbidden City, known as 'Asia's No. 1 Hall.' In front of it is the Heavenly Kings Hall, with sculptures of the Four Heavenly Kings and eight peculiar colored clay figures inside, followed by the Guanyin Hall, with the Wenshu Hall and Puxian Hall on the left and right.
Bell Tower and Drum Tower (two-layered eaves)
Located in front of the Mahavira Hall on the left and right sides, the Bell Tower serves as the God of Wealth Hall. Those who wish to 'strike it rich' can go worship the God of Wealth and tie a red string.
Entrance Steps
First, enter through the 'Non-Duality' gate, then pass the 'Six Realms of Samsara Pillars,' and afterwards reach the 'Three-Faced Guanyin Statue.' The three faces represent: the light of Prajna, the purity of the lotus Dharma body. Embracing Buddha's feet, also known as paying homage to Buddha's feet, requires walking to the top of the Buddha hall, right under Guanyin's feet, and circling clockwise three times before embracing with both hands and pressing one's forehead to Guanyin's toes; when taking a photo with Guanyin, it is customary to have Guanyin beside you, not directly above you; avoid disrespectful gestures such as supporting Guanyin; praying to Guanyin for children is very efficacious, and many pilgrims return to fulfill their vows.

Zhumadian Culture | It's actually the largest in Asia, even bigger than the Forbidden City's Hall of Supreme Harmony!
In Zhumadian, located in southern Henan, lies a Buddhist temple that is not very famous nationwide or even within the province, but it is the largest in Asia, known as 'Asia's Largest Buddhist Temple'. Its Mahavira Hall is said to be even larger than the Forbidden City's Hall of Supreme Harmony. The temple's origins can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty, and although it has been rebuilt, it is still majestic and awe-inspiring.
💁
Travel Tips:
Nanhai Zen Temple is located in Runan, Zhumadian, and it is a paid attraction with a large parking lot in front. What impressed me the most was the service of the staff and the fair pricing of the incense sellers outside, who do not overcharge and thoughtfully tell you how much to buy without waste. When inquiring about the price of the sightseeing car at the ticket office, the staff, upon understanding our situation, felt that we did not need to buy tickets and kindly suggested that we could do without the sightseeing car.
After entering the scenic area through the mountain gate, you still need to walk about 500 meters to the core area. The road is flat, and if there are no elderly people, there really is no need for the sightseeing car. Entering through the Cooperation Gate is the Hall of Heavenly Kings, and crossing the stone bridge after passing through the Hall of Heavenly Kings is the Mahavira Hall, with the bell and drum towers on both sides. Behind the Mahavira Hall are the Circular Hall, the Samantabhadra Hall, and the Manjusri Hall.

There are many famous mountains and rivers in Henan, but the Laole Mountain in Zhumadian is definitely a special existence because its altitude is not high, but the floor space is very large. This time I came here and strolled in the drizzle, but I didnt have any fun. It is a natural and natural oxygen bar for health and leisure vacations. It is also a famous Taoist mountain. Although many amusement facilities cannot be played, it is also good to feel the Taoist culture in the Taoist temple here.

Lao Leshan can be seen from the name of the mountain as a Taoist mountain. It used to be the famous Taoist mountain in the Central Plains. According to historical records, Leshan had built a Taoist temple during the Sui and Tang Dynasties. It reached its peak in the Northern Song Dynasty and built the "eight palaces and two views and one worship platform". This shows that the scale of Leshan Taoism is great.
Hades.
When I arrived in Zhumadian City, the weather began to become gloomy and rainy. It rained all night, and there was no sign of stopping after the daylighted up. Although the weather is not good, it does not affect my interest in traveling. In the morning we drove to the Laole Mountain Scenic Area. Old Leshan is more like a large ecological park, perfect for weekend trips or regular stays.
