The Bonds

This is my 5th visit to the island (all times in the off-season), and each time I've been to the island, I've been able to relax and learn new things. I especially like The Bonds because it has a wide range of facilities and the food is excellent. Also, although the official website of the inn is quite flashy, when I actually went there, I was relieved to find that it was just the same calm inn as when I visited three years ago. I was especially happy that they started selling tangerine juice in bottles, which they purchase directly from farmers, as I like to drink it in my room every morning. The new manager and his wife are band members who enjoy a wide range of music, from Judy Mari to 70's rock and blues. After dinner is served, they come over to give a toast, so it's fun to save any unnecessary questions or topics for then and have a hearty chat. It was my first trip during the coronavirus pandemic, but even though this is a hostel, they have taken careful measures to prevent infection, and there are no restrictions on the use of shared items, including the washing machine. There are plenty of amenities in small packs, so even women can just grab a lipstick and go empty-handed. What's more, if you post about the inn on your SNS, you can receive free drinks and discounts on your next visit, and in exchange for promoting the inn properly, you can also have the owner, who is a former bartender, shake a shaker for you. The inn also has rental bicycles. I forgot to ask about the price, but by the way, you can rent an electric assist bicycle for 500 yen for half a day at Hoshifuru Terrace Himegahama, which is right next door. Oura Port, which is not too far to walk, also has plenty of rental bicycles, although they are not electric. Transportation by car can be requested at The Bonds at set times only. On the way back, if you go to Oura Port, in addition to coin lockers, there is also a staffed office where you can leave your large luggage for the same price as a locker, so it is fun to leave your luggage there until the ferry departure time and visit the supermarket or library.
