Location fantastic, food is great, huge choice, good quality (not once did I have to mention I am gluten free and need a high protein diet) enough sunbeds, no idea where the afore mention broken tiles are in the pool because I didn't find any, staff are certainly not rude, were these comments written by the entitled that think they can be rude to staff? Weather was fabulous. Bulgaria lev is v roughly 2 to a pound so 10 lev is £5, we caught the bus to Nessebar it's 2lev, lots of shopping opportunities, local beer ranges from 3 lev to 5 lev (£1.50 to £2.50 a pint) flower street (turn right at the beach and you can't miss it,) this is the party street with live music and clubs. Do try slush puppy with gin. I came for my 60th birthday on 10th June, staying in room 713 a deluxe room, initially was disappointed by the view until I realised we would have the evening sun, glorious, wouldn't change a thing. Also perplexed by the reviewer that said they arrived after midnight and wasn't offered any food or drink, after a delay we arrived at 01.15 and were given a goodie bag of food each. All staff have a good grasp of English. If you want to crawl round on your hand and knees looking for dust and flaws then you possibly need to stay at home. Thankyou Barceló it's been great x

This was a very last min. booking; booked for days before flying out. It was an impulse holiday and to be honest we were relunctant to book based on previous reviews but we got a VERY low priced deal with Jet2 (£1340 for a week all inclusive for a family of 4) so we took a gamble. I'd read previous reviews on here and I had the absolute fear so as you can imagine the whole holiday was much better than what was expected. We arrived at midnight and upon check in we were given a bag of snacks and water since we'd missed dinner; this wasn't a request but hotel protocol which made "mum I'm hungry" easier to deal with at midnight after 12 hours of travelling. A lovely, well mannered bell boy took all our luggage to our room whilst showing us how to find out room..first impressions were decent. Obviously we were very tired and this made things so nice. We found our room (414) to be very clean and spacious, we got unpacked and into bed. Dressing gowns and new slippers were in the wardrobe waiting on us which was a lovely effect. The pillows just don't work, one normal and one square pillow that you sink into, it was a pest on the first night but you get used to it and have a lovely sleep in the most comfortable and MASSIVE beds. If you are fussy with pillows then take your own, this is not a fault as I slept great but pillows are personal preferance. Next morning we went exploring after breakfast. Breakfast have a large variety of various amounts of food catering for all diets and the food was all fresh whilst the restaurant was spotless. All staff were very attentive. We left the hotel and found the shopping mall and KFC which are built into the hotel but unfortunatly they weren't yet open for the season. This is not a fault, we were just a week early before everything is fully opened so if you want all they extra facilities then go around 2nd/3rd week of June and not the 1st week or May. Walked into the promenade which had everything you could ask for; hand made gift shops, victorian photography shops, fake clothing and footware shops plus plenty snack food places and rides....not forgetting the very clean beach. This joins on to Flower Street which is bouncing with restaurants, shops, an overpriced McDonalds plus more. Restaurant staff in Flower Street and the promenade are quite pushy into trying to encourage you to dine with them, "we're all inclusive and have already eaten" isn't really accepted - just ignore them and walk on. We later went for a pool afternoon and sunbathing; pools are great sizes and very clean but there are nowhere near enough sun loungers, Borrow pool towels in the morning and get your lounger for the day but you can't return the towels untl 5pm-7pm so people have to leave them at their loungers all day whilst away doing other things. This is about our only flaw to be found with the hotel; people aren't holding the beds all day for nothing it's just they can't hand in towels sooner. Upon return to the room we reali

Stayed here for a week all inclusive (14th to 21st September) with friends - party consisted of 4 adults. The hotel is in a great location close to beach, shops, bars etc. Hotel was clean & tidy, rooms were spacious & comfortable (Junior Suite), towels changed daily. Staff on reception were friendly & very helpful especially Vesalina, also found Vasil, Jenny & Lidiya working on the bars were also friendly & attentive to our needs. There was a great choice of food in the restaurant - very tasty and a wide variety daily (sometimes too much choice!) The only slight negatives were: - the entertainment wasn't up to much - I believe as the season was near the end the entertainment had been scaled back (Hotel was due to close the following week after we left). However, there were some dancers on one night, a quiz another night, bingo, music etc. The downstairs sportsbar had been closed as classed as low season. - there are quite a lot of mosquitos & many people had bites Overall however I would recommend this hotel.

Last year i stayed in the Mena hotel in June 2022 and it was amazing, full of families and my kids really enjoyed the animation team. We had such a great holiday, we decided to book the Barcelo this year. Honestly abit disappointed, we thought the pictures looked great, but didn’t feel the animation team tried as hard with the kids ( age 11 & 4 ). The hotel was clean and tidy and was near all amenities. The food was okay but next year I think we’ll be returning to the Mena Palace.

Me and my family visited the hotel in late August and early September and to our surprise the hotel offered great animation which entertained us all day from morning to night. The team worked really hard - they offered different entertainment for us, games, morning and water activities (the girl who was doing the training was so nice and smiling all the time, me and my daughter participated in the training every day), different children program every day (my son was constantly with them all the time, he loved the girls who took care of the children) and really professional evening entertainment programs which were different every night - saxophone and guitar show, dance shows, especially Bulgarian traditional dance show is our favorite because my husband participate with dances, it was so nice experience. The hotel was very nice. The rooms were unique (we were in a room with a sea view) we are very satisfied with the service too. The food was great, drinks also. We spend really good and unforgettable time, we would like to repeat it as soon as possible.

We are currently staying here and if you’re reading this, I wouldn’t bother booking it. The food is terrible. Very limited and Luke warm at best. The pancakes were that hard you could easily use them as a frisbee. We struggled every night to get into the main restaurant as apparently it was always full. The staff are probably the worst I’ve had at a hotel, rude and unhelpful. The all inclusive drinks menu is very limited, and only served till 11pm. If you’re drinking by the pool then you get little plastic cups. The Coca-Cola is worse than cheap cola in the uk and if you want fresh orange, be prepared for a glass that’s 75% water. Whilst our room is a decent size, it’s not really cleaned during the week. Quite a few things are broken or half broken too. My stepsons room had mold in their bathroom too. The pool area is a decent size and we had no real problems getting a bed. There is however a large amount of beds that never really get much sun. It’s got an indoor pool that’s cold, also a spa ( that I never went in). To summarise, if you want a hotel with rude staff, poor food, dirty rooms and a decent sized pool….this is for you.

Firstly our room was perfect, comfy bed and nice view, although maid didn't make much effort in cleaning. The location is also perfect, short walk to beach, shops and bars. Pool was nice and big too. The two things that really let the hotel down where the food and staff attitude. The food although I found something every night was not up to a four or 5 star standard. It was very repetitive and also not presented well. The children's choices was compared to other hotels I've stayed, very limited. There was no fresh omelette made to order available in the morning which was a shame. The deserts however were very nice so was the fresh coffee. The main thing though that I was so surprised at was the staff attitude. There was 2-3 nice staff I met but the rest never smiled, addressed you at the bar, and couldn't even manage a please or thank you. The assistant manager, i never got his name but was working on the morning of 30th September, was extremely rude and full of attitude. The staff on reception weren't much better and couldn't even tell me where I catch the bus to the old Town, which turned out to be a 5 minute walk! I Wouldn't return to this hotel unless it was a bargain. The evening entertainment was also just aimed at children.
