The exact time of its establishment is unknown, but it was already recorded in the 'Guangzhou Records' of the 'Yongle Encyclopedia' during the Ming Dynasty. The temple was very popular, and along with Guangzhou's Guangxiao Temple, Qujiang's Nanhua Temple, and Dinghu's Qingyun Temple, it was known as one of the four famous temples in Southern Yue. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, the authorities carried out a campaign to destroy 'licentious temples' in the Jiangnan area, deeming all temples not registered with the imperial court as illegal and demanding their demolition. There were two reasons for this campaign: on one hand, Buddhist activities were powerful, with many monks and followers, which impacted the power of the court and local scholar-officials; on the other hand, the Buddhist value of 'lying flat' affected the Confucian value of striving, which was promoted by the court. With more people 'lying flat' and worshipping Buddha instead of working, the temples came to own a large amount of land and houses, affecting the interests of local scholar-officials. After Baofeng Temple was demolished, its original site was purchased by Huang Chongcheng, the Minister of Taichang Temple from Nanhai. Most of the temple's land and ponds were confiscated. The abbot, Hui Lian, led the monks to the White Cloud Cave at Xiqiao Mountain and built another temple, Baofeng An, which continues to this day and has become a famous attraction. Xiqiao Mountain is a must see when in Foshan. Getting There🚕🚌 - travelling from Guangzhou there are a few transport options. The most convenient but also most expensive is by taxi or Didi. Cost about 120 one way from Panyu. You can also take a bus. Attractions⛩️🌞 - the scenic area is beautiful. Make sure you include the shuttle bus option when purchasing the entrance ticket. There are many attractions which are quite far apart to walk. You can walk up to the Giant Buddha. Several Temples on the way up. We were lucky to witness during prayer time. There is also a lovely lake to explore. You can easily spend a day checking out the different attractions. Food & Restaurants - make sure you take some food or snacks. We didn't see anywhere to buy food inside the scenic area. Just soft drinks and snacks are available. #nationalpark

The cave is divided into three grotto heavens and twenty-four scenic spots, and the 'Thousand Feet of Flowing Water' was listed as one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Yangcheng during the Qing Dynasty. Baofeng Temple, with a history of over 600 years, is located at an altitude of 346 meters and has the tallest Guanyin statue, Guanyin exit, coming to the Azalea Garden, with its richly colored azaleas, check in at the ancient Baiyun Temple Biyun Village, the village retains mainly the architectural clusters of civilian residences from the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period, including the ancient Fu's Villa, a cultural relic protection unit of Foshan City, after visiting Biyun Village. Bamboo Garden Station, you can first visit the Camellia Garden, to see the camellias that cover the mountains. Then from the Nature Education Path, climb up to Jiguan Peak. In the spring, Sifang Bamboo Garden presents a scene of lush greenery. Standing on the viewing platform, the view of the surrounding mountains is spectacular.
