Liushi Ancestral Temple

Liu's family temple is an important part of the ancient town of Nanxun, built in the late Qing Dynasty in Guangxu. It was the place where Liu Xi, the first of the four elephants in Nanxun, sacrificed his ancestors. The most attractive thing about the family temple is the three big archway and the huge flagpole at the door.

The Xiaolianzhuang courtyard building is really a qiyu, the layout is also quite particular, you can feel the majesty of the big family when you come here. Contemporary writer Huang Qian once compared it to Jia's Ancestral Temple in "Dream of Red Mansions", which shows that the scale of Liu's temple is rare in Jiangnan.

Xiaolianzhuang, formerly Liu's Guixuan temporary residence garden, consists of three parts of Jiamiao, Yizhuang and garden, the garden is mainly lotus pond, the design of the whole garden is quiet, highlighting the beauty of Jiangnan garden. Liu's family temple, founded in 1888, was built in 1897 and lasted nine years. Its main hall hung a piece of gold plaque of "Chengxian Muzu", which was the imperial gift of the Xuantong emperor.

Liu's family temple is in Xiaolianzhuang, relatively close to the exit. I heard from the tour guide that this should be the family temple of Liu's descendants, but I don't know if this Liu's is the famous Liu's during the Qianlong Qing Dynasty. However, this temple was built in the Qingguangxu period, with three wide faces and three deep inwards, which is still very large. In addition to the main hall, there are also ancestors on the side.

Liu's family temple is located in the scenic area of Nanxun Ancient Town, not far from the entrance of the gate. It contains a rich Zongxu culture, the hall is three intakes, and the back hall is called "Yudetang". In front of the temple there are two things opposite Qingguangxu Yuci, built in Xuantong years of stone archway, carved ingenious, elegant and simple.
