A temple with a pretty splendid bamboo grove and a sense of history
Original Text
It is close to the Odakyu line and is located in a residential area. The main shrine, which is located on a fairly large site and up the stone steps, feels history. There is a magnificent bamboo forest on the small diameter leading to the graveyard. This temple, which is also designated as an important cultural property of Kanagawa Prefecture, was opened by Jikaku Daishi during the Jowa era (834 ~ 848), and was rebuilt by Nagaben Ayari during the Kamakura period. .. It is also said to be the site of shigenari inage, one of the powerful gokenin (shogunal retainers) of minamoto no Yoritomo, and this book ...
I don't know the detailed week, but the mountain gate and the main hall were also quite nice. I couldn't actually see it, but it seems that the cultural property called the wooden statue of Holy Kannon is also preserved.
Currently, it is a temple of the Shingon sect Toyoyama school, but it is strange because the founder is Jikaku Daishi of the Tendai sect. In the precincts, there is a tomb of Shigenari Inaba who served Minamoto no Yoritomo. There were few worshipers. Perhaps because the timing was wrong, I couldn't worship the Buddha statue of Kawasaki City Cultural Property. Be careful as the car navigation system will get lost.
It is the place where Shigenari Inage's residence, which built a castle in Mt. Kumagata, was located. There are 2 large roads from the station to Mt. Kumagata, but you can't go to this temple unless you go through the shortcut. I heard from the locals that Shigenari Inage's wife is Masako Hojo's sister.
This was on the way back to Mukogaoka Yuen Station after climbing Mt. Tomagata in Ikuta Ryokuchi. The road from Tomagatayama is a little narrow, so don't overlook it. At the entrance, there is a signboard of the Kawasaki City Board of Education called "Cultural Properties of Kofukuji". The wooden statue of Holy Kanzeon Bodhisattva is famous and seems to be an important cultural property of the prefecture, but unfortunately I couldn't see it.
