Arakawa Observatory
Original Text
Arakawa Observatory I arrived from Morishita on the Onagi River all the way east. It is a very good place with a very good view and open riverbed. Is the observatory about the 5th floor? I think there are quite a few stairs, but you can easily climb. I want to visit on a sunny day.
The Japanese name is lock gate, so it is a system that works with a set of 2. It is a structure to overcome the difference between the water level of the former Nakagawa River that flows through Koto Ward in the zero-meter zone and the Arakawa River that flows from the mountain. It's still interesting because it's a proof that there is water transportation. It was tight.
Like the famous Panama Canal, it is a gate made to adjust the water level to allow ships to navigate in two waters with different water levels. So to say the ship elevator? !! If there is no ship, it is just a water gate, but it is exciting to see the ship coming and the water level rises and falls.
If you look at it from a distance, it is well built. It makes you feel the neck of the downtown area of Japan. It's just a water gate. It's better to look at it from a distance than to see it nearby.
It's near my home, but I went for the first time on foot. It was interesting to see the water level adjustment up close. However, it is the best place to feel the magnificence of Arakawa.
