The Ref Kyoto Hachijoguchi by Vessel Hotels provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The Ref Kyoto Hachijoguchi by Vessel Hotels is an ideal choice for travelers who want to take in the sights and sounds of Kyoto. The hotel is conveniently located a short 200m drive from Kyoto Station. Just a short walk from Kujō Metro Station, traveling to most city destinations is a breeze. Seeing Kyoto's sights from this hotel is easy with Kyoto Tower, Kyoto Aquarium and Higashi Honganji all close by. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel. For those driving themselves, parking is provided on site. According to our guests, this hotel provides a very high level of service. This hotel is a popular accommodation for guests traveling alone.

"The room was a bit small, and with my luggage under the TV, the walkway became even narrower. You really had to watch your step getting in and out; I accidentally bumped into the corner of the TV cabinet and ended up with a huge, painful bruise on my arm. My room, 806, was an end room right next to a storage closet. I was too lazy to ask for a change, but light sleepers should be cautious. A plus is the lobby on the first floor, where you can have tea and relax, and there's self-service luggage storage. Toothbrushes are provided, but I strongly advise bringing your own – I ended up buying a new one from the supermarket because the bristles were so hard. The room also wasn't serviced during my stay. On the 6th floor, there's a laundry room, an ice machine, and a microwave. Kyoto Station isn't far from the hotel, but the first time I followed navigation, it felt a bit convoluted. It's actually about an 8-10 minute walk. Kyoto Station is huge, with JR lines, subways, and various other trains, and just looking at the signs can be dizzying. It's much faster to ask the staff for directions."

KYOTO TOKYU HOTEL

This is a venerable super five-star hotel with an excellent location, though it's a bit out of the city center, making it quite inconvenient for getting to sights, attractions, and dining. However, the hotel shuttle bus to Kyoto Station is a lifesaver. The hotel was renovated a few years ago, but it still retains its 40+ years of history and luxurious decor, now blended with modern, clean design elements. Charging facilities and hygiene are excellent. I would definitely stay here again!

When we chose this hotel, we saw pictures and videos that made us think it was a resort estate, but it's not. There's very little to see inside the hotel; I could walk through the entire property in 5 minutes. Secondly, the hotel advertises natural hot springs, but the public ones reek of disinfectant as soon as you walk in, which is very unpleasant. The room itself was okay and had character, and the bathtub was very large with a pleasant woody scent when bathing. Finally, the breakfast – honestly, the taste was just mediocre. I wouldn't choose this hotel again at the same price point.

Hotel the Celestine Kyoto Gion

9,6/10
Amazing

This was our first time staying in the Gion area, and Hotel the Celestine truly elevated the experience. The atmosphere is calm, elegant and very Kyoto. From check in to departure, everything felt smooth and professionally handled. The cleanliness was impeccable. The room was thoughtfully arranged with a perfect balance of modern comfort and traditional Japanese touches. Beds were extremely comfortable and the space felt well planned, not cramped like many city hotels. What makes this hotel special is the location. Stepping outside places you immediately in the charm of old Kyoto. Walking through Gion in the early morning before the crowds arrive was unforgettable. Service deserves special mention. The team was polite, warm and always ready to assist with genuine hospitality. A beautiful property for anyone who appreciates quiet luxury in a prime cultural setting. We would gladly stay again.

The hotel's location is excellent, making it very convenient to get around. The service was warm and attentive, and the food was also good. The breakfast offered both Japanese and Western options, and the Japanese breakfast was truly fantastic. I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto.

My stay here was absolutely wonderful; I felt comfortable and relaxed throughout. The hotel's location is super convenient for getting around. The entire hotel is spotless and well-maintained, with public areas that are tidy, quiet, and elegant. My room was immaculately clean, the bedding was soft and comfy, and the layout was practical. All the amenities were complete and fully functional, making for a cozy and secure stay. The staff were incredibly warm, polite, and respectful. Check-in and check-out were handled very efficiently, making the whole experience smooth and hassle-free.

This hotel is decent. The location is great, and check-in and check-out are done via self-service machines. You also pay taxes at these machines. Overall, it's a pretty good hotel. When choosing, make sure to pick the newer building, not the old one, as the new building is recently renovated and generally much better. It's only about a 10-minute walk to Kyoto Station. There are laundromats nearby, as the hotel itself doesn't have a laundry room.

The largest room we’ve stayed in during our Japan trip. We absolutely loved it. We selected the Premium Deluxe room for the space as we wanted to rest well in Kyoto and got tired of the small rooms in Tokyo. The bed is the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in, and the bathroom is spacious. I would recommend the Premium Deluxe for people who have more budget and want to rest well. 10/10 would stay here again.

The concierge team is really resourceful and helpful when we asked about luggage delivery service, thumbs up for their service. Just love everything about the hotel, excellent hospitality, great location, beautiful design, spacious room, comfortable bed and etc. Breakfast with huge selection including some Thai dishes, crispy bacons ever, just amazing. It was really great value for the money, highly recommended!

It is a very nice hotel with attentive staff! The hotel is about a 7 minutes walk from Kyoto station. It’s a very convenient place to stay if you’re catching an early train or arriving from a late one. I don’t know if I’d recommend it for a longer stay since the area is quite boring. There’s plenty of restaurants and shops within the station but they’re very crowded and more expensive. It’s also quite far away from the main sights of Kyoto, so for a longer stay I’d recommend staying downtown. The included room amenities are good but nothing special. There’s shaving kits, towels, haircare, skincare, tea, water, and yukata robes (the robes are not souvenirs). There’s a pool, a spa area, and a restaurant, which all have an additional fee. My room was clean, but I found some scuff marks on the walls and a crack in my bathtub. From Kyoto station you can see Kyoto tower but it’s not an amazing sight hahaha. It takes about 25 minutes to downtown Kyoto from the hote

This was my second stay, and it truly offers the most spacious rooms I've encountered in Japan – I absolutely love it. The hotel has a grand exterior, and there's a dedicated complimentary onsen with multiple pools, some even featuring massage functions. They also provide a free drinks and snack area, and a room for enjoying music, making the overall experience very relaxing. The photos I took show the hotel room and the view from the balcony; we enjoyed moon-gazing at night and admiring the scenery in the morning. It's a quiet, open space that puts you at ease. The hotel restaurant serves excellent food, though the prices are a bit high; it would be even better if they could adjust them. The hotel is close to Kyoto Station, making it very convenient to get there by taxi.
