Resort Tava'e ★★★

"This resort is absolutely beautiful with warm and welcoming service. Guests can enjoy complimentary use of snorkeling gear, kayaks, and other sports facilities. The highlight is definitely the resort's private lagoon, where you can swim while admiring the coral. The rooms come equipped with a microwave and dishes, which is convenient if you prefer to prepare your own meals. Alternatively, you can dine at the resort's own restaurant, which offers good food, generous portions, and reasonable prices."

Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort (Adults Only) ★★★★★

"The views here at Lagoon Private are much better than those at Pacific. I'm not sure why so many people recommend Pacific; personally, I think the facilities are pretty similar, but the scenery just can't compare to Lagoon Private."

Tamanu Beach Resort ★★★

"I stayed two nights at the Jonagold Beach Hotel on Etutaki. They offered airport pick-up and drop-off, presented me with a flower garland, and upon arrival around 11:00 AM, we were greeted with a welcome drink and a hotel introduction before checking in – a great touch. The garden bungalow we stayed in didn't have a direct sea view, but the room was spacious, and sitting on the veranda to enjoy the scenery was quite pleasant. The beach was beautiful, with countless corals and giant clams; we were allowed to take some, but they were confiscated by New Zealand customs. Breakfast was average, but dinner was decent, costing around $50 per person. The downsides were the outdated facilities in the room, and the door wouldn't lock. We tried for a long time without success, contacted hotel staff who came to check, and waited an incredibly long time. They even claimed we broke it, saying the hotel was very secure and it was okay not to lock it. Finally, they changed our room, but this room also had some minor issues, which I didn't bother arguing with – the shower head wasn't working well, and the water pressure was too low."

Pacific Resort Aitutaki - Adults Only ★★★★★

"The best hotel on Aitutaki Island Personally, I felt it was better than another one, but this one doesn't have overwater bungalows. The hotel is very large, the internet speed is good, and the air conditioning is very powerful—it's quite cold. I don't recommend booking a basic room; just book the ultimate ocean view villa directly. It's only about a thousand dollars more expensive. The area is much larger, and the experience is significantly better. The food is quite good, but the service is very slow. The service is generally good; the front desk can help you book things like motorbikes. It's normal to have some small insects on the table on a tropical island."

"Please avoid this place. I strongly regret staying here and would not recommend this property to anyone. The owner, Thomas, was extremely unpleasant and, in our experience, made discriminatory and ****** comments and behaved in a way that we found completely unacceptable. The property is also in the middle of major construction works. There were cranes, workers entering the property, constant hammering and construction noise throughout the day. This is not the peaceful accommodation that is presented to guests, and in our opinion the condition of the property and the way it is being operated are completely misleading. We tried to find alternative accommodation, but the entire island was fully booked, which Thomas was well aware of. We therefore had no realistic option but to stay there despite the conditions. We felt trapped and completely let down. What we were sold and what we actually experienced were two very different things. It felt like a complete rip-off. If you are considering booking this accommodation, our advice is simple: look elsewhere. There are better options where you can expect basic peace, privacy and respectful treatment from the owner."

Ranginuis Retreat ★★★

"Great location, a short walk along the lagoon to the Boatshed Restaurant, and good coffee place and 2 kms from the Airport. Free transfers only if you stay more than four nights. Good swimming in the lagoon out front - (tho water not clear) and complimentary kayaks ( but you need to reserve paddles). We found the accommodation (room 8) shabby for the price compared to other places we stayed in Raro. The room was small, tired and dilapidated. The office was only open from 8:30- 12:00 and closed altogether on Sundays. Powdered milk in the room. No shampoo provided. We had nowhere to hang wet clothes out of the rain and when I tried to hang them in the laundry area I was shouted at by Laine. Working in the tourist industry calls for welcoming dispositions. Any request from hosts Steve and Laine seemed to be an imposition. There are a lot of rules! They could do much better with a positive approach to their guests."
