Sandals Royal Curacao ★★★★

"This is the fifth Sandals we have been to and by far the most disapointing Taking the positives first, the grounds are immaculate and the staff were warm and friendly. We knew before we arrived it was not a traditional Carribean beach so it was no surprise to us. Getting around the resort on the bikes is a great way to move from place to place and we really enjoyed the food trucks, Aolos was fantastic and the two al a carte breakfast restaurants were great All the other restaurants were underwhelming including Butch's and Vincents. I have never eaten suschi before and the waitress in Gatsu Gatsu was so unhelpfull when we asked for help. The resort offers snorkelling and it is a great trip we did it twice during our 10 night visit. We went club level in a Sunchi oceanfront, the room was lovely with a side view of the water (not ocean) and housekeeping were also fab Sadly there were negatives Unless you get up at 6.30am to reserve beds then you will not get one either around the pool or beach. Butlers reserve a high percentage of beds and also secure additional beds for their clients on the beach. It was disapointing that despite having a policy to remove towels from empty beds it was never enforced. There are lots of $200 cabanas around the resort and they were hardly ever occupied, instead of tryng to extract more money in your luxury resort, why not replace them with beds and parasols to ensure your guests can find a bed, after all that is why we go to the Carribean The buffet for breakfast and lunch at Pietra was terrible, not enough choice and in was more like a canteen, definitly one to avoid As previously mentioned the staff are mainly friendly but I am not sure whether there are enough staff of they are not adequatly trained. I waited at least 20 minutes for drinks in restaurants and the main lobby bar was completly understaffed at dinner times. I did have the opportunity to discuss my issues with the Customer Experience Director (didn't capture his name) and he seemed to take on board my concerns There was very little drink service in the bars or around the pool, this should be a given for a luxury hotel Also the concept of couples only seems to be diluted, there were various companies rewarding staff for their endeavours and block booking rooms. This changed the whole vibe of the resort with large gatherings, especially aroung the pool. I also experienced this in Sandals Barbados in January this year Sandals had a guest for life with us but if I am going to spend $10,000 on a luxury holiday travelling from the UK and have to get up at 6.30am to get a bed, then I will look elsewhere. I did think at one stage whether the beverages team were incentivised for a slow service to increase your margins, as the cabanas certainly were not making a contribution to your P&L Thanks for the ride Sandals it has been great over the years, maybe the new owners Royal Carribean will make you a luxury brand again in the near furure"

Blue Bay Lodges ★★★

"The lodges are pretty good. They are within the complex where some villas, resort and golf course are. However, if you don’t have a car it’s not possible to enjoy it as much , all walking distances are somewhat far ( like the entrance itself and the beach ) which with the heat is pretty inconvenient. Also the reception is limited to one hour in the morning and the rest is assistance through WhatsApp"

Bayside Boutique Hotel - Blue Bay Golf & Beach Resort ★★★★

"Service was not up to a 4 star standared. I had to carry my large suitcases up 2 sets of stairs without help. The location was terrible for restaurants. Only alternative is to hire a car to go somewhere. The beach was overcrowded and you had to pay for a sun lounger. Overall, I will not go back and if I did go to Curacao, I would not stay here."

Mondi Lodge ★★

"This is one of the top 3 best places we've ever stayed at, and we stayed in LOTS all over the world. If you're thinking about booking a few days here and they have availability, just do it. Staying here feels like staying in a nature reserve. Unlike the rest of the island, everything here is green with loads and loads of vegetation. Even the lodge we had was built around a tree and the shower was outside - truly a spectacular experience. There are lots of animals here - cats, dogs, donkeys, lizards, iguanas, you name it. If you love nature and animals, you will love it here. The lodge itself was superb and was fitted with everything you could need. If you want to cook, you can use their kitchen by the pool which is stocked better than my kitchen back home! We were welcome to using eggs from their hens and anything we found around the kitchen (as long as it didn't belong to other guests - clearly marked). There is a pool as well and this is when I found out that magnesium pools exist. Every day is a school day, and it was great to not have to deal with chlorine. There are sun loungers by the pool and you have massive trees for shade. You can also get drinks from a nearby fridge for fair prices using an honesty policy. Danita and all the rest of the staff were super friendly and helpful, making the whole experience perfect. Staying here was an extraordinary experience and if we're ever back in Curacao, we're absolutely staying here for the whole period. Thank you Danita and congratulations on creating something truly spectacular!"
