"Historic Berkeley Place bookended our 2 night stay in Staunton where we enjoyed an excursion on the Virginia Scenic Railway with another couple. The house is more beautiful than photos convey. It is understated and elegant. Architectural details have been preserved, and modern touches have been incorporated. We really enjoyed the private porch that came with the first floor room, where we savored snacks and pre-dinner drinks both nights. The little gelato-stocked freezer in the lobby was an unexpected surprise. Host was very responsive when we had trouble getting our room lock to work. Would definitely stay here again."

Self check in makes it feel as if you have the place to yourself and the large modern room, king bed, fireplace and spa like bathroom made for a serene romantic escape. The only thing that would have made it even more perfect would be bathrobes and hooks to hang them on near the stand alone spa tub."
