Guilin Li River Cruise Tickets & Guide

I've travelled the Li River in April mist, in July heat and in the low-water weeks of January, and each trip taught me something different about this stretch of Guangxi. The Li River, or Lijiang, runs about 83 kilometres from Guilin down to Yangshuo, cutting between thousands of limestone karst peaks that rise straight out of the water — the landscape that shaped Chinese ink painting and the view printed on the 20-yuan banknote. Most travellers see it from the deck of a boat, but the river also rewards the roads, the bamboo rafts and the hilltop viewpoints along its banks.

There is a waiting area with simple drinks available for the 12:30 departure cruise. Of course, the food on board is delicious, but ramen is a must. You can rest indoors while admiring the scenery as we pass by. You simply cannot take in every single view. I spent four hours experiencing and seeing Guilin. This kind of trip is truly fascinating.

It's definitely worth it. All cruise ships to Yangshuo depart in the morning, so arrive in Guilin the night before, stay overnight at a hotel in the city center, and explore. In the morning, take a taxi to the desired pier and you'll have almost five hours of magical 360-degree views—views you won't find even in Yangshuo itself. Three-star hotels include tea. Everyone brings their own food; the boat is a bit pricey. Seats may not be next to each other; you can try to negotiate a swap with other passengers on board, but that's not guaranteed.

The scenery is spectacular, the bus ride to the pier was a bit tedious, the guide talked a lot over the loudspeaker and considering it was 7:40 in the morning we would have appreciated some silence at that hour. The food wasn't very good but the staff were very friendly and attentive.

The boat trip is pleasant and the scenery spectacular – there's no shade on the roof of the boat, where the view is best, and the food took a little while to arrive (no information about when it would arrive either), but overall it's well organized and recommendable.

Overall, it was very good. The boat facilities were complete. I didn't order food myself, but the food the people next to me ordered was exactly the same as the picture. The scenery along the way was beautiful, and you could see almost all the major attractions. The picture on the 20 RMB note was taken exactly the same way. I would recommend this to other friends.

Li River Cruise

The Li River cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo is one of the great boat journeys in Asia, it takes about four hours, and it is genuinely as beautiful as the photos. It is also a one-way trip with a fixed morning departure, a pier that's an hour outside town, and a real-name ticket system, which is where most travellers' plans go sideways. This guide covers all of it, plus what to do once you're in Yangshuo.

What Is the Li River?

What Is the Li River?

The Li River, or Lijiang, runs from the Mao'er Mountains in northern Guangxi down through Guilin and on to Yangshuo, where it joins the wider river system flowing toward the Pearl River delta. The section between Guilin and Yangshuo is about 83 kilometres, and it cuts through the most famous karst landscape in China: thousands of limestone peaks rising vertically out of the water, with bamboo along the banks and water buffalo in the shallows.

This is the scenery that gave Chinese landscape painting its vocabulary, the view printed on the 20-yuan banknote, and the reason the phrase "Guilin's scenery is the finest under heaven" has survived for a thousand years.

Why Everyone Cruises It

  • The classic route is one-way, downstream, so you're always moving toward new scenery rather than sailing back through the same view.
  • The best scenery is concentrated in the final stretch around Xingping, which is only reachable by boat, road or the river itself.
  • It's a full half-day of entertainment with no effort: you sit, you look, you stand on the deck, and lunch arrives.
  • It solves your transport problem, since you end up in Yangshuo, which is where you want to be anyway.

My Rating

  • Scenery: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ genuinely one of the best in the world.
  • Logistics: ⭐⭐⭐ the pier transfer and one-way routing take planning.
  • Value for money: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the three-star boat, ⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the four-star if you value comfort.

Li River Cruise Route Map: Guilin to Yangshuo, Pier by Pier

Li River Cruise Route Map: Guilin to Yangshuo, Pier by Pier

All the big cruise boats run the same one-way route from a pier southeast of Guilin down to Yangshuo, departing in the morning and arriving early afternoon. There is no return cruise, so plan your onward travel before you board.

The Two Boarding Piers

  • Mopanshan Pier (磨盘山码头): the three-star boats leave from here. It's in Lingchuan County, roughly 25 to 35 kilometres southeast of central Guilin.
  • Zhujiang Pier (竹江码头): the four-star boats leave from here, practically next door to Mopanshan.
  • Both are about 45 to 60 minutes by road from Guilin city. Tourist shuttle buses run from the city for around ¥20 per person, and most day-tour products include a hotel pickup.

How Long It Takes

Expect three and a half to four and a half hours on the water, depending on the current and the water level. Boats leave in waves through the morning, typically between about 8:40 and 10am, and you should be at the pier 30 to 45 minutes before your slot for ticket collection and security. Most passengers are in Yangshuo around 1 to 2pm. If you're booking through a listing that shows a fixed operating window such as 9am to 2pm, that's the service window rather than your specific departure time, so read your ticket carefully.

Which One I'd Book

If you're going to be on the open deck for the Xingping stretch anyway, and you should be, the three-star boat gets you the identical view for a lot less money. Book the four-star when someone in your group needs a comfortable seat, when it's cold or raining outside, or when you'd rather not think about lunch. The VIP and upper-deck cabins on the four-star boats are nice but not transformative, since the best viewing is standing up outside regardless.

The Cheaper Alternative: The Short Raft Route

If you're short on time or money, the classic alternative is the motorised raft on the Yangdi to Xingping stretch, which covers the most scenic part of the river in about an hour and a half. It's louder and more exposed than the big boats but far more intimate. The big caveat is water level: in the December to March dry season and after heavy summer rain, these rafts are the first thing suspended or shortened, while the large cruise boats usually keep running because the reservoirs manage the flow.

Around ¥20 per person

45 to 60 minutes; day tours include pickup

Full-day tour with transfers and guide

How to Book

  • Book two to three days ahead in normal periods, and further ahead around Chinese public holidays, when the boats fill completely.
  • Real-name booking means your passport number, and it must match the document you carry on the day.
  • Tickets are usually sold through the official ticketing channels and through Trip.com, where the Li River three-star cruise listing starts at around US$33 for a ticket-only option.
  • Ignore anyone at the pier offering a "cheaper boat". It's either a short river stretch, a different river entirely, or a scam.

Where Is the Li River and How to Get There

Where Is the Li River and How to Get There

The Li River runs through Guilin in northern Guangxi, and the cruise links Guilin with Yangshuo. Both ends are well connected by air and high-speed rail, and the only awkward part is the morning transfer from Guilin city out to the piers.

Route

Time

Cost

My take

Guilin city to Mopanshan or Zhujiang Pier

45 to 60 minutes by road

Shuttle around ¥20; taxi or ride-hailing generally ¥100 to ¥160

Take the shuttle or a tour with pickup; taxis from hotels can be pricey early in the morning

Guilin to Yangshuo by high-speed rail

20 to 40 minutes

Around ¥24 to ¥35

Fast, but note the station is at Xingping, not Yangshuo town

Yangshuo HSR station to Yangshuo town

50 to 60 minutes by shuttle

Around ¥20

Add this to your planning or you'll be surprised by the distance

Guilin Liangjiang Airport to Yangshuo

80 to 90 minutes

Bus around ¥50 to ¥70; taxi roughly ¥200 to ¥260

The direct airport bus is the easiest arrival if Yangshuo is your first stop

Yangshuo back to Guilin by road

About 1.5 hours

Bus around ¥30

Fine in the afternoon, slower in holiday traffic

The Detail That Catches Everyone

Yangshuo's high-speed rail station is actually in Xingping, about 30 kilometres from Yangshuo's West Street area. If you're heading to Guilin after your cruise, you'll need a 50 to 60 minute shuttle to the station before the 20 to 40 minute train, so the total is closer to an hour and a half. If you're staying in Yangshuo, ignore the train and take the bus or a car directly.

What to Do on Your Li River Cruise and Around It

What to Do on Your Li River Cruise and Around It

The boat is only the middle of the day. The best Li River experiences come from combining the cruise with the Xingping viewpoint, a night in Yangshuo, and one bit of countryside.

On the Boat

  • Get up to the open deck early and stay there for the last hour and a half, which is where the Nine Horses cliff and the 20-yuan view appear.
  • Photograph the reflections when the boat slows; the mirrored peaks are the shot everyone wants.
  • Onboard photographers sell printed photo albums. Buy only if you actually want one; it's the standard hard sell on this route.
  • Keep your ticket and passport with you, and don't leave bags unattended on deck.

Xingping and the 20-Yuan Viewpoint

Xingping is where the scenery peaks, and the land viewpoint for the 20-yuan note image sits right beside the old town, near the Chaobanshan pier area. It's free and it works regardless of the water level, which makes it the reliable backup in the dry season. If you have the legs for it, the climb up Laozhai Hill above the town gives you the classic aerial view of the river bend, and it's one of the best sunsets in Guangxi.

Yangshuo After the Cruise

  • West Street (西街) is the busy, touristy heart of town. Worth one evening, not three.
  • The Yulong River (遇龙河) is the quieter, prettier sister river, with man-pushed bamboo rafts and countryside cycling. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ in my book, and better than the busy stretch for a relaxed day.
  • Xianggong Hill (相公山) is the sunrise viewpoint for the Li River bend, around 40 minutes from town.
  • Moon Hill (月亮山) and the Ten-Mile Gallery cycling route fill a lazy afternoon.
  • Impression Sanjie Liu (印象·刘三姐) is the big outdoor night show on the river, staged by the same team behind the Beijing Olympics ceremonies. Book same-day through your hotel.

On the Guilin Side

  • Elephant Trunk Hill (象鼻山) is the city's symbol and an easy hour.
  • Reed Flute Cave (芦笛岩) and the Two Rivers and Four Lakes night cruise round out a Guilin evening.
  • The Longji Rice Terraces (龙脊梯田) are about two hours from Guilin and worth a full day, especially in spring when the terraces are flooded or in autumn when they turn gold.

Two things decide your experience: how much water is in the river, and how many other people had the same idea. The seasons affect both.

March to May

September to November

Busy, and National Day week is chaos

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ best overall

December to February

Cold, low water, occasional mist; short raft routes often suspended

Lowest of the year

⭐⭐⭐ quiet and atmospheric, with caveats

Water Levels Are the Real Variable

  • November to March is the dry season. Raft services on the Yangdi to Xingping stretch can be suspended or shortened, sometimes covering only part of the route.
  • The large cruise boats generally keep running thanks to reservoir releases, but they can also be shortened or use different piers when the water is very low.
  • Very heavy rain in May and June can suspend services for safety at the other extreme.
  • Check the official ticketing channels one or two days before your trip, and have the Xingping land viewpoint as your fallback, since it's unaffected by water levels.

Dates to Avoid

  • Chinese New Year, usually late January or February.
  • Labour Day, around 1 to 5 May.
  • National Day, 1 to 7 October, the busiest week of the year nationwide.
  • Summer weekends, when domestic family travel peaks.

What to Eat Around the Li River

Guangxi food is its own thing: sour, fresh, rice-based and lighter than the heavy dishes people expect from Chinese cuisine. These are the plates worth ordering.

What it is

Where to try it

Guilin rice noodles (桂林米粉)

Rice noodles with braised meat, pickles, fried peanuts and a splash of broth; the local breakfast

Anywhere in Guilin, ideally a busy neighbourhood shop

Beer fish (啤酒鱼)

River fish cooked with beer, tomato and chilli; Yangshuo's signature dish

West Street and the streets behind it

Taro with pork belly (荔浦芋扣肉)

Melting pork layered with local taro; rich and very good

Guilin and Yangshuo restaurants

Stuffed snails (田螺酿)

River snails stuffed with minced meat and herbs

Night markets and local restaurants

Gongcheng oil tea (恭城油茶)

A savoury tea drink with puffed rice and peanuts; an acquired taste worth trying

Tips and What to Bring for Li River Cruise

Tips and What to Bring for Li River Cruise

A short list that saves a lot of irritation, based on things I got wrong at least once.

  • Bring your physical passport. The ticket is real-name and matches your document.
  • Arrive at the pier 30 to 45 minutes early, and confirm which pier your boat uses, because Mopanshan and Zhujiang are separate and an hour from town.
  • Book your Yangshuo onward transfer or hotel before the cruise, not after, when you're standing at the dock with luggage.
  • Pack light for the boat. Big suitcases are awkward on deck; several day tours will move your luggage to Yangshuo for you, and hotels can hold bags if you're returning.
  • Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and a light windbreaker. The deck is exposed and the river breeze is deceptive even in summer.
  • A rain jacket or umbrella, even in the dry season. Weather turns quickly in the karst.
  • Water and snacks, plus motion sickness tablets if you're prone. The ride is gentle but four hours is four hours.
  • Camera, power bank and a spare memory card. This is one of the few journeys where you'll genuinely fill it.
  • Comfortable flat shoes, and a small day bag rather than a backpack you'll keep taking on and off.
  • Awareness of drone rules in scenic areas. Assume you can't fly one without permission and carry it accordingly.
  • Cash as backup for small vendors, though mobile payment covers almost everything now.

We spent our vacation with our family and were absolutely delighted 😍 We especially liked the pool: there are comfortable sofas and tables around it, you can order drinks and food without leaving the water, and just relax. The pool offers an incredibly beautiful view of the mountains — that’s a separate pleasure ⛰️ Our room was very spacious and had a beautiful view. The bathroom is large and has all the necessary amenities: a freestanding bathtub, a separate shower, and a toilet. The minibar was replenished every day. All our requests during the stay were handled very quickly👌 The breakfasts are good, they’re more like European ones — that’s a big plus for foreign tourists. The hotel restaurant is delicious, and the selection of dishes is extensive. There’s a children’s room and two pools for kids, where our children spent the whole day. The hotel is perfect for a family holiday. We recommend it and would be happy to come back again!☺️☀️

Nestled amidst the picturesque Ten-Mile Gallery and the tranquil Yulong River, this rice paddy resort is embraced by thousands of acres of rice fields and karst peaks. It offers a serene countryside escape, far from the bustling West Street. The guest rooms feature expansive panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing you to admire the rice paddies and peaks right from your bed. Wake up to majestic morning mist over the mountains and watch the sunset paint the rice waves in the evening, immersing yourself in the breathtaking landscapes of Yangshuo. The hotel's public areas offer a rich experience. The infinity pool seamlessly blends with the pastoral mountain scenery, and the Sky Mirror on the rooftop is a fantastic spot for photos. The complimentary buffet breakfast offers a wide variety, and you can also enjoy an exquisite afternoon tea. The butler service is meticulous and thoughtful, and electric scooters are available for rent, making it incredibly convenient to explore the Ten-Mile Gallery. Whether you're a couple on a romantic getaway or friends enjoying a vacation together, this place is perfect. If you're looking for a secluded, idyllic retreat in Yangshuo, this hotel is an excellent choice.

My impression of this place: breathtaking mountain and river scenery, perfectly blended with a clever mix of old and new architecture. Everything is beautifully presented, thanks to the vision of architect Dong Gong. The hotel facilities and room functionalities are well-designed, and the service is warm and attentive. You can truly relax here. Both the Chinese and Western restaurants on-site offer excellent cuisine. The outdoor pool (with its stunning views) is a highlight of the outdoor areas. You can easily arrange a bamboo raft tour of the Li River by simply walking down a few steps. The impressive 'Impression Sanjie Liu' show is just a 10-minute drive away. The buildings are scattered among the mountains, intertwined with reflective water features, showcasing rich and thoughtful details that are exquisite day and night, making it well worth a thorough appreciation.

Wubu Town/Yangshuo Bus Station Yangshuo|1.53km from city center
We stayed at New West Street International Hotel for total of 10 nights as we accompanied our child at a nearby Chinese school in the summer. This extended time gave us the opportunity to really got to experience the hotel facilities, the food, and the service.  First the location. The actual location is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the actual West Street. To us, the distance is actually a good thing. Food, shops, and amenities at West Street are overly tailored for tourists. The hotel location is quiet and peaceful. Nearby are many local restaurants and shops that we much preferred. In fact, we found ourselves walking away from the West Street direction to get some great local foods everyday of our stay. That said, the hotel offers an excellent shuttle service beginning at 3:30pm until late at night if that's what you are into.  Second, the hotel building itself is in excellent condition. It appears many of the facilities and rooms were recently renovated. The lobby is open and airy and makes a comfortable gathering spot for us to meet our friends before heading out. The hotel sometimes accommodates tour groups. Even when we see as many as three tour buses parked in the back, the hotel does not feel congested nor noisy. The room itself is tastefully updated with a large flat screen TV, USB-C chargers, and automated curtains. The beds were comfortable and our balcony room faced a beautiful karst mountain and a nearby pond. The room appears to have great noisy insulation. We did not hear our neighbors like we did in other Chinese hotels. Third, the place is always clean. We see staff cleaning public areas all the time, wiping down handrails, elevator buttons, countertops. etc. As for our room, the home keeper always kept it clean and orderly. We had some problems with smell the first day. A housekeeper came and troubleshoot the problem to durian smell in the mini-fridge. Not only did she wipe it down, but even without us asking, the later came back with another mini-fridge to make sure no smell was left. That really made an impression on us. Next, the staff. Everyone we encountered was always friendly and greeted us. From the cleaning staff to the front desk reception to the restaurant waiters. Everyone was friendly. We can only speak limited mandarin but the staff still talked to us best they could in English. Rachel, the manager on site, was especially friendly to make sure we got everything we needed. She understands we were staying for an extended period of time so she was always asking what can be improved for our long stay. The hotel added us to WeChat where they respond quickly to all the typical requests like room service to sending us extra water. I wish more hotels do this.  Finally, the facilities. We used the laundry room daily. There are 5 washers and 3 dryers by my count. Most of the time, I can find an empty machine to wash my laundry. Mornings are best for doing laundry. After dinner time is the busiest time. We occasionally had to take out other people's laundry that were just sitting there but it's rare. The pool is large, warm, and clean. The shallow end is perfect for kids or just wading around. The deep end is 1.7M deep so it's plenty for actual swimming. We also used the on-site travel agent to book a private transfer to the Guilin high speed station. Rachel happened to be nearby when we did this and she helped with some translation with the agent and it was very appreciated. The restaurant was large and there was always space for us to sit even when there are large tour groups. It offers mainly Chinese options but also have some Western items. Food was abundant and delicious. The Guilin rice noodles in the back is tasty and the broth is excellent. The only thing is the coffee could be a little bit better! We loved our stay at the New West Street International Hotel and would not hesitate to go back next time we visit Yangshuo.

I booked a three-day, two-night stay at the Heart-Calming Villa during a promotion. The room wasn't huge, but it had its own private courtyard, was very quiet, and had a unique charm. The large ducks and peacocks roamed freely around the hotel, and I was surprised to see no droppings on the paths – the cleaning staff must work incredibly hard! I tried the Master Spa, and afterwards, I felt completely relaxed. The 1588 price was definitely worth it; I highly recommend everyone experience the Banyan Tree signature spa. Our personal butler, Vicky, was super responsive, answered all our questions, and even helped us arrange a late check-out and a discount for mountain climbing, which was very thoughtful. Although the Banyan Tree is about a 30-minute drive from the main scenic area, if you're looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway, the facilities and services here are definitely superior to many new trendy hotels.

We had a lovely two-night stay at Xitang river hotel. The view from the hotel is really nice and great location beside the river and West street. Breakfast was good for a small boutique hotel. Reception was exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable. We needed help to book the bamboo rafting experience and they advised on booking the Jima route via Wechat the night before. They let us use their hotel mobile number to complete the booking too (we didn't have a China mobile number). If I have to nitpick, the room we stayed at was quite small and shower wasn't the most clean on the first day we arrived. The corridor carpet is also due for a refresh soon.

Yangshuo Scenery Family Hotel ✨ Enjoying the Yulong River Landscape from Your Bed Stumbled upon a hidden gem of a family hotel in Yangshuo while traveling with the kids. The location is absolutely amazing, with layered mountain views to the left and direct access to the Yulong River on the right – the natural scenery is just breathtaking. The first floor has an indoor children's play area and a huge lawn, so much fun that the kids didn't want to leave. The infinity pool on the second floor is perfect for kids to splash around and play, totally enhancing the vacation vibe. The rooftop observation deck is incredibly photogenic! We chose Shengdi Hotel because we could see the bamboo rafts floating on the Yulong River right from our balcony. The panoramic suite, at 80 square meters, was spacious with double balconies, which was a great value. We arranged breakfast with the butler in advance, and they set it up in the garden. When we arrived, the food was already served. The weather was lovely, and dining outdoors while watching the Yulong River rafts was truly worthwhile.

This time, my friend and I came to Yangshuo for a vacation, and we blindly picked this hotel, which turned out to be full of surprises! The location is right by the Li River, and it's just a 300-meter walk to West Street. In the evening, you can even stroll along the river, which creates a fantastic atmosphere. The breakfast on the first floor offers a wide variety of options, and there's also a wonderfully atmospheric Western restaurant on the fourth floor. Ordering a couple of drinks there at night, while enjoying the night view of the Li River, is incredibly relaxing. Overall, our stay was very comfortable, and I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit Yangshuo!

The hotel's location is excellent, right at the entrance of Yangshuo Park. It's much more convenient for taxis compared to staying inside West Street, and there are plenty of dining options nearby. It's also very close to West Street and has a vibrant atmosphere. The room was spacious, and we even got a free upgrade! The internet speed was fast. Although it faces the street, it was very quiet at night, and we couldn't hear any traffic noise.

A Resort Hotel Near the Li River in Yangshuo 🌿 - A Former Shipyard, Framing Mountains and Rivers into the Room Looking for a place in Yangshuo that truly blends with the mountains and rivers, I was deeply moved by the Ruoli Shipyard Hotel 🌊. Located next to the old shipyard site, it exudes a vintage vibe, preserving the unique traces of time from the shipyard. Surrounded by green mountains and the Li River, the natural environment is incredibly immersive. The rooms feature panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, directly facing the vast karst peaks and waters of Yangshuo. Here, humans and nature merge. In the morning, open the curtains to find the Li River and continuous mountain ranges directly entering your view. Sitting inside, quietly watching boats slowly glide across the river, you truly experience the poetic scene of 'boats floating on emerald waves, people touring through a painting.' No need to rush to scenic spots; you can immerse yourself in the Li River's landscape right at the hotel. Far from the hustle and bustle of West Street, it's quiet and relaxing. Lying in bed, watching the clouds drift by with mountains and rivers as your companions, the vacation feeling is absolutely complete. #YangshuoRuoliShipyardHotel #YangshuoRiverViewHotel #YangshuoAccommodation #LiRiverB&B #YangshuoTravel #GuilinScenery

Bringing my whole family, including seniors and kids, to Yangshuo for summer vacation, choosing the FaDai Hotel was an excellent decision! The transportation is convenient, and getting around to nearby attractions is smooth. The room's view is absolutely fantastic; my kids spent every day glued to the window, watching the mountains and rivers. The breakfast is well-balanced and nutritious, with light options suitable for both elderly guests and children. The butler service is very attentive and proactively offered suggestions for family-friendly activities. The free travel photoshoot was a huge bonus; the photographer was great at entertaining the kids, making it easy to capture natural and warm family photos. It allowed us to relax while keeping the kids entertained. We'll definitely be back!

I'm not a shill, and the hotel didn't ask me to write a good review. I'm a Trip.com Black Diamond member, and I average 50-70 nights in hotels each year. My good reviews are always written willingly, hahaha~ Alright, now that you've read my first sentence, you can check out my objective review. This trip was just my husband and I, no kids, but I'm really looking forward to bringing our son next time~ The hotel is incredibly kid-friendly~ They have a starry sky pool, a kids' play area, and the restaurant food is very clean. Right outside is the Shui'erdi Pier, which is where the bamboo raft drift for the Yulong River's essence section departs. The hotel's hardware, software, decor, and cleanliness are all five-star, absolutely nothing to complain about. The service attitude is incredibly good, truly up to five-star hotel standards, I'm not kidding, especially since I've stayed at Lux and can compare~ The rooftop cafe is perfect for photos~ The afternoon tea 🫖 is nice! Every time we returned to the hotel, the front desk would warmly greet us, asking if we were tired or where we'd been. The front desk小姐姐 (young lady) even gave me mosquito repellent spray, a small bag, and a souvenir, I was so touched. We slept wonderfully at night, the hotel's soundproofing is excellent. Compared to the Muyu we stayed at the day before, across from the Romance Park, for a similar price, Mengyuan is heavenly, and Muyu is on the ground. Muyu's 1000+ yuan room only offered a view of a massive construction site, which was truly speechless. The hotel can help book tickets, and they're much cheaper. The hotel also offers electric scooter rentals 🛵 which is very convenient~ It's lovely to ride to West Street or Kang Kang Tangshui Shop for some dessert in the evening. Yangshuo's beautiful scenery was made even more special by the hotel. A perfect trip heals all stress and anxiety~ Thank you, Mengyuan, for giving my husband and me a perfect romantic getaway. We will definitely bring our child next time~ I'll recommend it to all my friends. ♥️ If I had to mention one small area for improvement, it would be the breakfast; it could be slightly better.

★★★★★ I had an excellent stay at Li River Resort and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Yangshuo. The location is fantastic if you are looking for a peaceful and scenic retreat. The resort is situated about 1.6 km from West Street, far enough away from the crowds and noise to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, yet still close enough to reach the town easily. One of the highlights of my stay was the swimming pool. The view of the surrounding karst mountains is absolutely stunning and creates a truly relaxing atmosphere. It is the perfect place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and very reasonably priced. I also appreciated the traditional Chinese design and style of the property, which gave the resort a unique character and sense of place. What impressed me most, however, was the staff. Their English was excellent, which made communication effortless. They were always friendly, professional and extremely helpful when it came to planning excursions and activities. What I particularly appreciated was that I never felt pressured into booking anything through the hotel. The staff were happy to explain different options, recommend attractions and suggest where to book activities such as bamboo raft trips, but it felt like genuine travel advice rather than a sales pitch. This honest and personalised approach was refreshing and greatly appreciated. As an independent traveller who is comfortable using local apps such as Alipay and Didi, I found this hotel to be the perfect base for exploring Yangshuo and the surrounding area. Excellent value for money, beautiful surroundings, wonderful staff and a truly relaxing atmosphere. A well-deserved five-star review.

After comparing several hotels, I finally chose this one and was very satisfied with my stay. The room's cleanliness was impeccable, the facilities were in excellent condition, and it had great natural light. The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices, and the rice noodles were absolutely delicious – the lady who prepared them was an amazing cook. The staff were friendly and responsive to any issues. The location is excellent, making it very convenient for sightseeing. I genuinely recommend this hotel.

This hotel is a hidden gem, conveniently located near the Yulong River and easily accessible to attractions like the Ten-Mile Gallery. It's also very close to the pier, and I heard you can even arrange for the boatman to drop you off directly at the hotel's private pier. The hotel service is excellent, and they even offer butler service. While the hotel is a bit older and some of the facilities could use an upgrade, overall it's a great stay. One suggestion for the pool area: it would be beneficial to have an additional staff member besides the lifeguard. This way, the lifeguard can focus solely on safety rather than having to assist guests with other requests, which could lead to a lapse in their primary duty. The breakfast, however, doesn't quite live up to the hotel's standard. Since our room included breakfast, it wasn't too bad, but if we had to pay extra, the quality and value of the food would be seriously mismatched.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Five-star review! Highly recommend Banyan Tree Yangshuo for family trips! This time, I traveled to Yangshuo with my two children and elders. Initially, I booked another hotel. On the way to West Street, I stumbled upon this hotel. I stopped by the lobby for a break and was instantly amazed. As one of the few five-star hotels in Yangshuo, the lobby is grand and luxurious, and it's rare to find such a spacious area in a prime location. I immediately decided to switch hotels and moved here from my previous accommodation for two consecutive nights. The overall experience exceeded my expectations. The hotel's facilities are perfect for family travel: there's a kids' club where children can play freely; a self-service laundry room makes washing clothes during the trip very convenient. The hotel grounds offer many picturesque spots, like the 'Sky Mirror' overlooking the Li River and the riverside dining corridor – every shot turns out great. The location is excellent, making getting around easy. The room rates offer great value for money. It's perfect for both elders taking a leisurely stroll and children playing. This hotel was an unexpected gem of our trip, and I will definitely choose it again next time I visit Yangshuo!

I loved my stay at this hotel! Firstly the room is just so gorgeous and very spacious. It had so many mini details that made it a 5/5; the pool was always the perfect temperature, they have a pretty big fridge in the room stocked with waters and fizzy drinks/sodas, the had a mosquito plug in to help with bugs, the had rose petals I could use for the bath and loads more it was just beautiful. There is no lift unfortunately and I think my room is one of the only ones with a pool so you will be climbing 6 flights of stairs BUT it’s worth it and they have 2 AC’s in the room (one in the bathroom, one by the bed). You also get breakfast every morning which I was a bit scare about but I had these amazing noodles every morning, they also give you some buns and a local porridge but the noodles was enough to fill me up. The service was amazing they would message me via the trip.com message platform if I needed my room clean etc and gave me a goodie bag with loads of snacks as I checked out! 10/10!!! Support a local boutique hotel :)

Cleanliness: This homestay was exceptionally clean, the cleanest of my entire trip. Facilities: The first floor offers picture books, board games, complimentary tea and fruit, and a dryer. Our room also provided a variety of pillows to choose from, a laundry basin, and disinfectant wipes. Service: The service was top-notch, and they even offered delicious red bean soup in the evening. We chose to stay near the pier because we were participating in a night fishing excursion, and it was only a few minutes away. There's a Meiyijia convenience store next door, and we also had dinner at the homestay by making a reservation a day in advance. The homestay is a bit far from the old town center, and it might be difficult to get a taxi during the day due to traffic. Renting an e-scooter would be a better option.

This is a very cozy hotel, quiet and clean, with warm service. When I arrived, I thought it was far from West Street in Yangshuo, but it's actually just across the Li River. There's a ferry boat for 4 yuan, and you can reach the lively West Street in minutes. There are parking lots both above and below ground, making it very car-friendly. The hotel's back entrance is just a few steps from the Li River, perfect for a walk or enjoying the scenery. Although the pool isn't open this season, the pool and lawn are great for photos. After arriving, I immediately decided to extend my stay. One day it rained heavily and I didn't go out, and Manager Mo at the front desk even gave me a complimentary staff meal. I'll definitely choose this place again next time.

Stayed in Yangshuo for two nights, and the B&B experience was quite good, offering excellent value for money. The staff were incredibly friendly and gentle. The hotel looks nice and clean. The front desk clerks are helpful and polite. There's a play area for the kids in the lobby, big enough for a few kids to play at the same time. There's also plenty of traditional outfits that you can try on. Our room was comfortable for the four of us, with two big, comfy beds and enough space for our luggage. The facilities were clean. There were toiletries in the room. I think that towels and toiletries are changed daily. There's a swimming pool on the rooftop, it's shallow so it's good for kids. The view from the rooftop is amazing. Breakfast buffet was okay, but it could be better. The West Street is just a few meters away from the hotel and you can find many restaurants and shops there. I absolutely loved Yue Tian Life Hotel. The receptionist was incredibly friendly, the restaurant staff were all very attentive, and the food was exquisite—the quality and taste were top-notch. The rooms were spacious, clean, and a very comfortable experience. Opening the hotel window reveals a breathtaking panorama of green mountains and clear waters; you're immersed in a painting, and even time seems to slow down. I looked at so many guesthouses on Trip.com and Xiaohongshu, and this one clearly stood out with its excellent facilities, both inside and out! It's a huge property, and even though it's in a village, it feels like a key development project for the area. The hotel has a pool, lawn, gym, kids' play area, small animals, and a cafe. The room facilities are also comprehensive, covering all the basics, and they even provide disposable liners for the bathtub. Best of all, the hairdryer is super powerful! The only minor drawback is the absence of a mini-fridge – that would be a great addition. The service was excellent. There are many staff members around the estate. They offer complimentary bamboo tube rice in the afternoon and free sweet soup in the evening. Our stay also included a complimentary travel photoshoot and DIY experience, which were a lot of fun and very enriching. The room looked exactly as pictured – a beautiful and sophisticated French style with dark wood accents. I'll definitely be back! (There were also many foreigners, and seeing handsome foreign guys playing volleyball downstairs instantly made the place feel even more upscale and chill 😂)
