Chatramongkol Day is another important day for Thai people because it commemorates the royal grace of the kings of the Chakri Dynasty. Originally, Chatramongkol Day was a ceremony held only within the royal palace, and His Majesty the King urged that the white umbrella should be celebrated to bring good fortune to the throne. Chatramongkol Day was considered the first royal event on May 15, 1850, which was also the year that King Mongkut (Rama IV) celebrated his white umbrella. Therefore, Chatramongkol Day has been recognized as an auspicious public holiday ever since.

Royal Ploughing Ceremony Day, May 9, 2025 (Friday)

The Royal Ploughing Ceremony is an annual traditional royal ceremony to mark the beginning of the traditional rice planting season. Royal Ploughing Ceremony Day is a public holiday, not a bank or private holiday. This festival is a ritual found in many Asian countries. In Thailand, the Royal Ploughing Ceremony, performed by the royal court, consists of two ceremonies, namely, the Royal Ploughing Ceremony, a Buddhist ceremony established during the reign of King Rama IV, and the Royal Ploughing Ceremony, a Brahmin ceremony that has been continued since the Sukhothai period. Currently, the first day of the Ploughing Ceremony is called the Royal Ploughing Ceremony Day, which is held differently every year depending on the determination of the Bureau of the Royal Household. Royal Ploughing Ceremony Day is also Thai Farmers' Day to commemorate the importance of agriculture in the Thai economy.

Visakha Bucha Day, also known as Buddhajayanti, Buddhapurnima, and Buddha Day, is an important Buddhist holiday for Buddhists of all sects worldwide. It encompasses numerous activities, including royal family members, monks, and the general public. Various ceremonies, such as offering alms, listening to sermons, and candlelight processions, are held to honor the Triple Gem and commemorate these three significant events. It is also regarded as the anniversary of the birth of Prince Siddhartha, who later attained enlightenment and became the Supreme Buddha, endowed with both purity and wisdom. He taught and proclaimed the truth of the world to all people through his great compassion, until his final attainment of nirvana. These three events, which occurred on the full moon day of the sixth lunar month, paved the way for the emergence and continued steadfastness of Buddhism to the present day.
