Had a really enjoyable staycation. The room was comfortable and just right for 4 people. Towels, iron, pillows, mineral water, coffee... all the basic amenities were fine. The bathtub and toilet were clean. However, upon checking in, as soon as I opened the door, the room had a stale smell. Perhaps it was because of showering in the room, making it a bit wet and damp. The hotel also gave a special warning about Charlie ants. The air conditioning was extremely cold. The TV channels were acceptable. The staff at the front desk were very friendly. Both check-in and check-out were smooth. I was able to check in 15 minutes early and check out an hour late, which was great. There were so many choices for breakfast, I was very happy. The famous Natrah Nasi Kandar is just a 2-minute walk away. Parking felt safe. Overall, it was excellent.

The room was great, and I particularly enjoyed the beautiful view overlooking Bukit Jambul. The location is another strong point, with plenty of popular restaurants nearby and easy access to food and other amenities. The swimming pool was also acceptable and a nice addition to the stay. The main downside is the basement parking. There is no lift directly from the basement parking area, so you need to use the stairs, which can be quite troublesome when carrying luggage. The parking system also still relies on a physical card that needs to be validated each time before exiting, rather than a more convenient ANPR system. Overall, a comfortable and enjoyable stay with a good location, refurbished rooms and a nice view. Improving the basement access and modernising the parking system would make the experience even better.

Raia Hotel Penang is an older property, and it shows in the room maintenance. During my stay, the curtains couldn't properly darken the room, letting in too much light. On top of that, there was loud operational noise early in the morning from the kitchen hood starting up. It made getting a good night’s rest very difficult. Needs improvement in room soundproofing and blackout curtains.

Everything was okay, but we got a room where the air conditioning was slow to cool down. We turned on the AC right after check-in, but it only started feeling cool when we returned to the room at 2 AM. Even then, we only felt the AC strongly when we were on the bed. The hotel staff checked the AC twice – once in the evening and once when we were out. When we came back at 2 AM, the hotel offered to switch us to another room. However, the AC in that other room also took a long time to cool, so we decided to just stay in the same room for our one-night stay.

Have booked last minute. The overall experience is good. Room is quite. But the corridors is a bit scary as total quite. It is a building for official space and room. Very basic facilities are provided by them but is enough for an overnight stay. Downstairs has some eating place and shop for u to buy drinks and food. The water provided are super tiny 2 bottles hence is not enough. If u are solo female and not too adventurous, u might feel unsafe. It is ok for me and I hv a good rest.

Pros: Decent Location: Centrally situated in George Town, making it relatively convenient to access nearby street food and local heritage sites. Cons: Terrible Soundproofing: The most frustrating part of the stay was the complete lack of noise isolation. You can hear virtually everything from adjacent rooms and the hallway—talking, TV noise, and doors slamming late into the night. Sleeping comfortably was nearly impossible. Cramped Rooms: The room size is extremely tight. There is barely enough space to open a large suitcase flat, and the layout feels restrictive and claustrophobic. Paid Parking: Unlike many hotels that offer complimentary guest parking, here you have to pay out of pocket for parking spaces, which adds unnecessary extra cost to an already underwhelming stay. Verdict: Unless you are on an extremely tight budget and plan to spend zero time resting in your room, it is hard to recommend. The lack of basic sleep quality and added parking hassle mean there are far better hotel choices nearby for the same price point.

It's totally unnecessary to be close to the airport. The suburban buses are unreliable. You can't cross the road in 10 minutes and it takes 1 hour to wait for the bus. You have to borrow a hair dryer from the front desk. A disposable cup costs 1 Malaysian ringgit, and you have to pay another 10 Malaysian ringgit when you arrive at the store.

I was very satisfied with my overall experience at this hotel! First and foremost, the most convenient aspect was the airport transfer service. The service is good but the Sound insulation no good. Can hear very noise sound in the early morning. Can the place is really narrow even the room or the toilet. That day we live got a towel it is wet in the toilet … maybe is no clean it or forget ? Not sure. The bed also got some stain but we just live one night so just ignore it. Hope to improve the sound insulation to let the customer sleep well and clean peoperly. Thanks

Overall, the stay was quite pleasant, and the owner was very responsive. The view from the balcony was excellent. However, there are several issues I would like to highlight regarding my stay. Pros: There are several kopitiams nearby, and the food was quite delicious, such as Sri Nibong Cafe, Wo Lai Yeh Cafe, and Dhoby Ghaut Cafe. Cons: On the first night, I found a small cockroach hiding near the bed headboard. On the second day and again on the day of check-out, I encountered a rove beetle, which is considered a harmful insect as its toxin can cause skin irritation upon contact with human skin. I also noticed that the dustbin inside the toilet had not been fully cleared, as there was still rubbish left behind by the previous guest. Please ensure that hygiene standards and pest control measures are properly maintained for future guests. In addition, the water dispenser did not provide cold water and only had hot and warm water available, which was quite inconvenient.

As we entered the unit at 9.00 pm due to last minute bookings, the unit was clean and tidy. Even though the hall's air conditioning is sweezing but well functioning. Overall, we are happy for the stay and very highly recommended for family or friends with 3-6 person as they provide 2 single beds, 1 double decker and 1 queen bed. Ample space at hall attached with the dining table. Further more, the unit located at the very next elevators, less worrying when we get in and out at night especially. Easy to get various foods and basic stuff and there are clinics and self-laundry down stairs. We will surely looking forward for the next visit.

The parking system also still relies on a physical card that needs to be validated each time before exiting, rather than a more convenient ANPR system. Overall, a comfortable and enjoyable stay with a good location, refurbished rooms and a nice view. Improving the basement access and modernising the parking system would make the experience even better.

Raia Hotel Penang is an older property, and it shows in the room maintenance. During my stay, the curtains couldn't properly darken the room, letting in too much light. On top of that, there was loud operational noise early in the morning from the kitchen hood starting up. It made getting a good night’s rest very difficult. Needs improvement in room soundproofing and blackout curtains.

Had a really enjoyable staycation. The room was comfortable and just right for 4 people. Towels, iron, pillows, mineral water, coffee... all the basic amenities were fine. The bathtub and toilet were clean. However, upon checking in, as soon as I opened the door, the room had a stale smell. Perhaps it was because of showering in the room, making it a bit wet and damp. The hotel also gave a special warning about Charlie ants. The air conditioning was extremely cold. The TV channels were acceptable. The staff at the front desk were very friendly. Both check-in and check-out were smooth. I was able to check in 15 minutes early and check out an hour late, which was great. There were so many choices for breakfast, I was very happy. The famous Natrah Nasi Kandar is just a 2-minute walk away. Parking felt safe. Overall, it was excellent.

Have booked last minute. The overall experience is good. Room is quite. But the corridors is a bit scary as total quite. It is a building for official space and room. Very basic facilities are provided by them but is enough for an overnight stay. Downstairs has some eating place and shop for u to buy drinks and food. The water provided are super tiny 2 bottles hence is not enough. If u are solo female and not too adventurous, u might feel unsafe. It is ok for me and I hv a good rest.

The service is good but the Sound insulation no good. Can hear very noise sound in the early morning. Can the place is really narrow even the room or the toilet. That day we live got a towel it is wet in the toilet … maybe is no clean it or forget ? Not sure. The bed also got some stain but we just live one night so just ignore it. Hope to improve the sound insulation to let the customer sleep well and clean peoperly. Thanks

Location is excellent with a lot of eateries nearby. However, the room is not properly cleaned, lots of dust and shampoo is not refilled. Soundproof very poor, can hear doors banging along the hallway.
