I get to my room and the digital key doesn't work, but a little pop-up on the app says ”You need a new Digital Key to open this door” with an option to click ”OK” or ”Call”. By pressing the ”Call” option you're sent to a recording telling you to go to the front desk. Very handy. SMH At the Front Desk: Me: My Digital Key doesn't work. Desk: Yeah, Hilton's been having problems with that. Me: Really? I've never seen that before. Is it system wide? Desk: ? 2) There's no hair conditioner in the rooms. At the Front Desk: Me: You guys don't have hair conditioner in the rooms? Desk: ”No. Hilton gave us the option of being eco-friendly so we don't”. Me: How is that eco-friendly? Desk: Well, we don't have plastic bottles. Me: Do you consider the large bottles on the wall of the shower containing shampoo and body wash to be ”eco-friendly”? Desk: Yes. Me: So you're just choosing not to have conditioner in the rooms. Desk: (smile) The owner made the decision not to have it in the rooms. Morale of the story: You shouldn't have to call a HILTON and ask if they supply hair conditioner before you make a reservation. 3) The local Internet tried connecting to my computer without me ever opening a browser. BUT, it wouldn't let you connect. It just kept opening more and more log-in pages once every 2 seconds, never allowing you to connect or disconnect. Almost like malware. VERY frustrating because your computer is virtually unusable until you shut off the WiFi. I showed this to the to front desk staff.

The loose nature of the state which is enhanced by the governor's stupidity, has made it persona non gratis. However, some friends I hadn't seen in over 10 years were vacationing in the Destin area, so I took a chance and made a quick trip down there. Passing through Destin a few months ago, I noticed a lot of new hotels. The Hilton garden inn as well as the la Quinta, are very new. However I chose to stay at the Holiday inn Express, because of my familiarity with the place, and it's more economical price than the other two hotels mentioned. Location-the hotel is located near a popular intersection that has an outback steakhouse, a cracker barrel, a Publix supermarket, a first watch restaurant for breakfast, and an entertainment complex with the movie theater. There's even a bass pro shop nearby should you need Beach equipment. One good thing about its location is that you can walk to the beach which is about three short blocks away. So you don't even have to move your car. Hotel-the hotel itself was clean, and rather basic, but quite comfortable. The parking lot is kind of small, but there seems to be space in the strip mall next door.

This one is definitely the “ beach vacationers “ model. Overall, it was good and did the trick, but there were some slight differences in quality and conveniences. You have to request housekeeping if you want it. It’s not assumed at all. Not a big deal, but again, when you’ve stayed at other Hampton Inns, this was odd. We had a loose toilet seat and a warped door frame leading out of the room. Just little irritations that needed a refresh. Overall, seemed like they were trying to cut corners to save money - but it’s 2022. Who isn’t at this point.

The room was clean and the location was good. It took less than five minutes to walk to the beach. When I went to this beach, I can see the sunrise and sunset. There are many parking spaces. There are not many types of breakfast but it is delicious. Generally speaking, I will book this hotel when I go there again.

The price is reasonable for the location. Area is well lit at night so you feel safe walking about at night. Talking about breakfast. The place looked as though it was built in the 1960s and was never updated. The staff was nonexistent and the staff that did exist were adolescent teenagers that didn’t offer any kind of assistance. The security was really bad because at midnight often times hooligans would come in and jump off of platforms into the pool and scream. The air conditioner was awful and hardly worked so it was a sweatyExperience, the refrigerator was awful but keeping things cold, basically just the bare minimum of a hotel that you will ever experience. Totally not worth the price when you could easily go somewhere else. I guess the only cool thing because the pool films and things like that but the pool was COLD for September. In addition to the staff review upon complaining about the pubic hair they never came and got the pillow and all they did was offer to give me another pillow and the hardly apologize. |1.43km from city centerWe arrived Monday after Thanksgiving to a friendly check-in by Carlos. We were quickly directed to our oceanfront king suite which was unfortunately on the lowest floor with a view of the pool below and the dunes straight ahead. Beyond the dunes was a view of a strip of the ocean. We had hoped for a higher floor, but the room was clean and comfortable, and we had plans for many hours strolling the beach; so, we took a walk, unpacked, and settled in. We had previously booked king suites at other Fairfield Inns and knew that the accommodation would not be a true suite. The large space is visually divided by two partial walls, but the bedroom space and the sitting space are open to each other. This is fine for a couple who do not expect to use both TVs at the same time; it is not great for parents planning to have privacy from the children on the sofa bed. The king suite would be better if the opening between the sitting and bed areas was smaller with two pocket doors to provide privacy or operation of both TVs at the same time. We slept well on the comfortable bed, and we appreciated the sofa, small tables, work desk on rollers, task chair, 2 TVs (bed area and sitting area), mini-frig, small microwave, 2 chairs, space for suitcase, 4 drawers, and small cabinet. The very small closet needs twice as much space for guests planning to stay several days. All in all, we found the oceanfront king suite to be a nice space for a couple spending several days at the beach. Our biggest complaint is probably that the TV had less than 40 channels -- need more. Freddie and Alexis provided breakfast with a cheerful attitude each morning. We count on the complimentary breakfast to start the day. Unfortunately, Fairfield Inn is still operating breakfast in pandemic mode: packaged breakfast sandwiches and waffles, 3 cold cereals, pork sausage on 2 of 4 mornings, oatmeal with a good variety of toppings, scones, packaged muffins, bagels, and yogurt. The orange juice was weak, and the coffee was too bold (please bring back regular roast); other beverages included milk and apple juice. Freddie and Alexis provided breakfast with smiles and kept a very clean eating room. The hotel is built with ground-level, open-air parking below the rooms and in a lot next to the building. We appreciated the complimentary covered parking.

|3.45km from city centerDo not stay here. The worst Marriott property in North America. Outdated, dirty, unsafe and their staff is unfriendly. As a Platinum Marriott loyal customer for over 25 years, we have never experienced such a lack of customer service level from the front desk team. We got the worst rooms at the hotel, overlooking the construction site at $450 per night. When we checked in the beds looked like someone slept on them. We told the front desk but there was no reaction. Dirty carpets. Trash in hallways. Empty hair conditioner dispenser. Broken hairdryer. Missing light bulbs. No enhanced room available, as the front desk team simply does not care to recognize their Platinum members and make arrangements in advance. It was a struggle to get two rooms near each other despite calling the hotel in advance and being put on hold twice for about 30 minutes. They were trying to put us and our kids in two separate buildings. Basic things like: “good morning” , “welcome to Four Points”, “thank you for being the Marriott Bonvoy member”, “Welcome back”, “Can we help with anything else?” do not exist. However, they mastered saying “no, we do not have, sorry” (Lucy and the male Assistant Manager were consistently unpleasant and unaccommodating). They even suggested that we check out after trying to figure out our room arrangements. WOW! We would if the hotels were not sold out that weekend. Here are our suggestions for travelers: right next door there are two great hotels, Holiday Inn and Hilton. Both of these hotels are newer, have a lazy river, a Tiki bar, a vibrant resort like atmosphere and friendly staff who showed us their facility for our next stay. My family did not feel welcomed at Four Points by Sheraton in Fort Walton. We asked to speak to the GM three time and the team refuses to connect us with him or her. I think that the GM should look into hiring the right team that is customer service oriented and provide training on Marriott loyalty programs. The facility is also not safe. Both of our guest room doors were not locking properly. The person who delivered fresh towels to our room left the door unlocked for hours on Saturday (room 283). We asked for someone to come and check on it, but it was never taken care of. The beach access board walk has worn out slip preventing strips and we saw several guests slipping. It is uneven and one may trip easily. For a property that has a direct beach access they have no recreational activities. We went to the Hilton next door and enjoyed their vibrant guest program, meals, and drinks. Again, we will not be back and it used to be a decent hotel. How is this property able to maintain the Marriott license is hard to understand. We have already notified Marriott about our subpar experience at this facility. Marriott’s values: “To enhance the lives of our customers by creating and enabling unsurpassed vacation and leisure experiences” are not followed here.

Desk, desk chair, easy chair and room in general well laid out. Internet in room 308 was very good all evening. HVAC worked well. Hot water very hot. Location good, easy to find, near the interstate, fast food, Walmart, gas, etc. Parking plentiful. Price was right. The motel seems to have been renovated recently, and construction may still be going on, but it was quiet and clean when I was there. Cons: one major gaffe - breakfast was poor. Variety was minimal, with almost nothing they offered left at 7:30, and the juice machine didn’t work. General: When I checked in, at 1PM, the desk clerk said that the cleaning staff didn’t come in until 2PM. She said they worked quickly once they started. I’ve never heard of that before. Despite the almost non-existent breakfast, this is one of the better motels I’ve stayed in in quite some time. Probably the breakfast thing is due to understaffing. Just go to one of the many breakfast options all around the motel.

The Extended Stay America Destin is your GO TO when you want a home away from home. They offer a gym, laundry facilities, a pool area, and a bite to eat. Let's dig in! It's clean, VERY CLEAN. House service works almost 24/7 to ensure it's clean and sanitized. That's really important during a Covid crisis! I'd swear the carpets were shampooed daily! It's quiet and also private here! People come/go and I never hear a thing! The property is surrounded by beautiful trees. I'd swear I'm in the middle of nowhere! The opposite is true! World-renowned Crab Island is right up the street! Clubs like AJ's (where I've been tipsy a few times), the Rotten Apple, and The Boat House, are there also. And there's plenty for the kids too! Do you want to pet an alligator? Seriously, do you? Well, you can do that before or after you head to the arcade. SHOPPING!!!! Destin Commons is literally within walking Distance! Rent a boat for a small fee to brave the gulf? Where is the beach, EVERYWHERE! Right there on the property are plenty of places to just hang out and enjoy the sun's rays! You can BBQ and walk the dogs in the open grass areas! And the grounds are well kept! THEY EVEN HAVE A CAR WASH HERE! WOW! Hungry? The Front Desk staff are knowledgeable. A special Shout Out to Jessica! She's professional and pleasant. What more could you ask for!

|1.74km from city centerVery easy check-in & out. Very nice breakfast included (cereal, muffins, bagels, waffles, eggs, sausage, coffee & juices. They have a designated dog walk area and although it is not fully fenced in, it is a nice gesture. They provide poop sacks and a shaded area to sit - if only others would clean up after their own pets! Hotel is close to restaurants, the pier, & short drive to Destin. There did seem to be some homeless people and a bit of a rougher crowd in the area but we did not experience any problems during our stay.

|2.8km from city centerGenerally, this EconoLodge is pretty good. Generally clean and and well maintained. It's the minor problems that downgrade the experience. Just a very few small roaches - kept baggage zipped up - don't want any of these souvenirs at home. Fridge was good but not adjusted to sit level - opening the door throws it and everything inside off balance - needs adjustment. Microwave have piece broken that allows glass tray to rotate for more even heating - glass doesn't turn at all. The worst problem is the super cheap toilet seat! AWFUL! It slips and slides around with any movement. The cheap plastic seat is the very lowest grade imaginable - between a somewhat high water level in the toilet and the super-thin seat this presents a unique male problem where certain anatomical parts get wet hitting the water below. Obviously, this doesn't make for a sanitary experience and is VERY UNCOMFORTABLE to try to use as well as possible. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.
