Friendly atmosphere. Price is reasonable. You can coom and do your laundry. Staff (Max) is very friendly and helpful if need assistance and can speak English a little, which good enough. Google translate will do the reat of the job. Additional english signs or staff would help a lot. All in all, ULA is a budget hostel, near to almost all of the tourist spots, coffee shops, restos and near the bus stops. Mostly you will feel comfortable.

Dear Hotel Team, During our four days staying, the staff made very positive impression. Location of the hotel is also very convinient. Howewer, there are a plenty room for improvement as well. We were in apartment 35. The large, four rooms apartment, with two bathrooms, even sauna. But not very clean and with smell of dust and dirtyness . It looks like it has not been cleaned for a months. This applays for all rooms and kitchen within apartment, but for coridors and stairs as well. Marks of wather leaking on the ceiling and walls could be seen. As a first aid, a fairly detailed cleaning would help, at least for apartment 35. But, investing in renovation would be even better option. Apart of that, pretty old and uncomfortable beds and worse furniture made our stay even less pleasant. In summary, we would not come, if we knew about all mentioned above. I hope you will not consider this feedback as a criticism, but as a well-intentioned suggestion for improvement

This was our first trip to St-Petersburg, and to Russia for that matter. Their website pictures do not pay this hotel justice. My wife and I were overwhelmingly surprised by the size and appointment of the room. The decor, furniture placement, the attention to detail, this was human factors engineering at its finest. The service was impeccable and their sense of anticipation at our needs were well beyond our expectations. As an example, we had to check-out early morning to meet our flight schedule. They immediately volunteered to provide us with a breakfast on the go, and offered to call us a taxi for that morning. The hotel location allowed us to walk to most important venues such as the Hermitage, Nikolai palace, Sacred Blood cathedral et al... We were in the heart of the heritage district. We don't usually write reviews, however Big Marine hotel is a credit to St-Petersburg and Russian hospitality. Our stay was too short, and because of our positive experience, we do intend on returning to St-Petersburg, and most definatly lodge at the Big Marine hotel.

Look at Ctrip's five-star rating (high praise) and book it. In fact, it is not a five-star hotel, it is equivalent to a boutique hotel. The door is very small, I booked a superior room (including breakfast), because the Eastern Airlines bastard canceled the flight at will, causing me to change the sign and postpone the day, resulting in the first night of the scheduled room can not be accommodated, wasting a night, although I want to Ctrip Notify the hotel in advance, I will not be able to stay on the first night, can I postpone the day? The hotel did not agree to the order, so I placed another order before the trip and added one night. After arriving at the hotel, I asked the front desk to upgrade to the river view room. The reason was that I paid for 6 nights and only stayed for 5 nights. The front desk manager is resolute and unwilling to change money. I feel that this hotel is not very atmospheric, small family, breakfast is very very general, the quality is very small, even the automatic coffee machine is not, there is only one kind of cheese, fried eggs are good to take the initiative to ask for service, do not take the initiative to provide guests with The list of hot meals is far from the five-star rating of the logo. After staying for 5 days, there is almost no food to eat the next day. The linen in the room is still good, the decoration is relatively new, and overall it is quite comfortable. Seriously do not like the color of the hotel room, and the inner court room that does not like the outside (river view, there are external windows), it feels like the dark room in the domestic hotel industry. The air conditioning is very good. The attitude of the front desk and the breakfast room staff was very warm.

Location is great, 10 minutes walk from Peters church. Area is fine. Very clean apart hotel and staff was very friendly. They answered my e-mail superfast. Also they really were interested that everything is ok for us. Price was amazing for this location and super clean hotel. Breakfast was not so good, even they really tried. You can choose from list what to eat and they bring it to your room. Pancakes and porrige were ok. I would go again for this place if it is same price. I think it is also good for longer stay. Also very safe by the way, outdoor is always locked and they give key for you. Restaurants near by and nice small cafe also.Nice aparthotel!

Don’t be put off by the outside of this hotel- it is in a traditional old St Petersburg building and the outside reflects that. Inside it is warm, bright and clean with lovely exposed brickwork and a splendid old staircase. Staff were unfailingly helpful, from sorting out our airport taxis to giving us extra pillows. The room had obviously been recently refurbished and was a good size for two people. The beds were comfortable and the safe was a useful addition. We were not troubled by noise as we overlooked a small courtyard. Heating is a radiator- we ended up turning this off during the night as it was very warm. My only complaint is that, about the time we got up (8ish?) there was no hot water, although slightly later and in the evenings there was plenty. For breakfast there was ample choice (I never saw warm cheesecake for breakfast before- I had to stop myself from having it every day!) of cereal, meats, cheese, eggs and bread. As vegetarians, we always found plenty to eat, although I will agree with other reviewers that some items looked a little stale. We always toasted our bread but I don’t think I would have liked it otherwise. The location of the hotel couldn’t be better- it is a two minutes’ walk from St Isaac’s Cathedral and you can follow the street all the way to Palace Square- great for people like me with no sense of direction. If we return to St Petersburg, we would certainly want to stay here again and have recommended this hotel to our friends and family.

The hotel is just across the street from St. Isaac's church and is very easy to find. There is a bronze statue of Peter I, and the Neva and Nevsky Straits are within walking distance. Hotel hardware facilities can not be compared with the domestic Renaissance, but the maintenance is not bad, the service is also very good, there are slippers, toiletries and kettle. At the time of check-out, the fee of 100 rubles per day is added. It seems to be a tax or something forgotten. The breakfast is Western-style, with a wide variety and fresh food. The restaurant on the 6th floor can directly see the street view and the church. The view is good. There are coupons in the room, it is worth a try.

Agree with all daggle’s comments. Had the same initial problem wth keys and courtyard door but staff very helpful even late at night. Made our own way from airport via bus and metro but can phone/email hotel in advance if need a taxi ( French couple charged exhorbinate price for airport taxi when the receptionist would have booked one to meet them at a much reduced cost). Bright airy room cleaned daily and had everything we needed. Ok the gated area, stairs and lift are not 3star but similar to those in any other Russian apartment block.Great value. Look out for good restaurant Toscana on the corner of the street and use as guide to find hotel for the first time. Enjoy your stay we certainly did.

I stayed at the Karelinn hotel with my wife and 9 month old son. We had a room with a kitchenette which was a big plus because we had a place to wash his bottles and warm up food before and after each touring day. The service was excellent. The receptionist helped with finding a taxi with a baby seat, getting a crib for the room and small things like ordering a pizza etc. The room was relatively big which was nice for my son as he had a space to crawl around in. The location was pretty good too with Cafe's and restaurants at walking distance and a grocery store right next door. A bus stop right outside the hotel helped us to get to the main attraction in the city. The room was clean and on the first floor so getting into the room with a baby stroller was only 5 steps away. The hotel rooms are inside a gated area that requires a code to enter which gives a feeling of security.

A friend and I recently stayed for 2 nights. Our room was small, but comfortable and very clean. We appreciated the heated bathroom floor for our January visit. Breakfast was included and it was excellent. You can order a main course and type of coffee from the menu and then add from the small buffet (croissants, breads, granola, yogurt, cottage cheese, butter and jams, salad fixings). We loved the fresh squeezed orange juice. Faces is located just steps away from the Hermitage end of Nevsky Prospekt street, close to St. Isaacs Cathedral and the Hermitage. We had ordered twin beds, and they were on the small side (not what we North Americans would call a twin) but rather more cot-sized. For us not a problem, but for someone with a large build, a bit small. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this hotel based on value, location and cleanliness.

We have stayed here many times. It is actually a Bible College and Conference Center that serves a dual purpose as hotel. It is gated and fenced with round the clock security guards. The rooms are simple but adequate. Small sove, microwave, fridge, much as you would expect in married student housing at a small university. Very quiet. It is in within walking distance of one of the main metro/subway lines, shopping and restaurants .

It was not the first time we chose this hotel for a few days off in St. Petersburg. The staff is super nice, always ready to help any time of the day! The service is amazing. They have a delicious restaurant and room service is fast and convenient. We had breakfast there every day and enjoyed it so much! It’s always delicious with a wide range of food to choose from! Also, during the pandemic the hotel feels extremely safe to stay in! All the necessary recommendations are being followed. It’s very clean. The hotel is also extremely stylish: starting from the modern hall with amazing lighting and comfortable beautiful chairs, ending with bathrooms and rooms that are beautiful! The place is located in the city center, so you can walk around most beautiful streets of SPB. Near the hotel you’ll find a Summer Garden. Because of the good location of the hotel - the taxi everywhere is rather cheap. And you can avoid most of the traffic! Highly recommend!

The hotel is very nicely located close to the main avenue Nevsky Prospect and to a couple of metro stations. It is also located on the Fontana river although not overlooking it. The walk from the riverside to the hotel (2min) leaves an impression that you’re entering a not so nice area and the door to the hotel is tucked away with a small sign on the door. The set of steps also confirms that same impression. Don’t be fooled by that however, once you enter, the hotel the room are nice and spacious with all the facilities you need and a recently renovated bathroom of excellent quality. The room she confirm the hotel’s 3 stars rating.. with its location, it’s an excellent place to stay. Breakfast is modest but is sufficient to start your day. By far the best thing about the hotel I stayed the service of the various receptionists who rotate on a 24 hours basis. They are friendly, helpful and will do anything to make your stay a comfortable one.

If you take the time to read all of the details about this apartment in the center of St. Petersburg then there is absolutely no way you could be disappointed! I read the negative review about this property on TripAdvisor and I felt that she was unnecessarily negative. The home is literally in the center of the city on a busy street, so you should expect some street noise from time to time. The outside of the building does not seem very impressive, but once you walk into your living space you’ll find that it is exactly as photographed. The kitchen area has a washer and dryer for clothes, a stove top with four burners for cooking plus a microwave. There are basic pans, utensils and culinary for you to use but you will be washing the dirty dishes yourself. This should not be a surprise if you read all of the details provided in the advertisement. This is more like living in an apartment then sleeping at a hotel. I honestly can’t find a negative thing to say about this cute living space which is meticulously maintained. I am within walking distance of more than 100 restaurants and some of the best sites Peter has to offer. I encourage you to give this a try if you’re here to visit and live amongst the people versus vacationing as a pampered princess at some hotel 30 miles away. To me, this is the better deal all the way around.

Located in a very convenient spot for sightseeing either on foot or by metro, this was one of the best accommodations we ever had worldwidely. Pros: location, absolutely. Rooms are clean, furniture cheap but new. Excellent breakfast. Cons: The hotel is located inside a business centre: there is no lobby, no lobbybar, no rest area. The reception ladies are not trained to be customer-oriented. They seem to be fired from a soviet theatre and hired at this hotel, all of them. Talking to customers as if we are a disturbance to their vacation. Never told me there is a minibar in the room: I never even imagined there was one but they asked if I used it at checkout. Keys get demagnetized, customer is to blaim, of course. Unfriendly attitude in general. Aircon never gets cleaned: you can feel strange odor every time you switch it on. Complained, was told that a technician ''will see it on Monday" but I left on Sunday. Amenities really cheap. Toilet paper: two rolls for three days for two people. Bedside lamp burnt out: complained by email, email receives by reception (they confirmed), never got a reply, never fixed.

The apartment hotel was very large with a large living room with TV and open kitchen with cooker, fridge, oven and toaster. The living room has two sofas where someone could easily fit onto, they are both very comfortable. The bedroom has a large double bed with clean sheets that get changed daily. The bathroom had a fancy power shower unit that is multifunctional and can give you a 'jungle shower' experience ie water from all sides. The apartment also includes a modern washing machine! In addition, it has a balcony AND two air conditioners, one for each room. Locationwise its about 7 min walk from the nearest tube station. However, because taxis are so cheap (use the 'yandex taxi app' which is the uber russia joint venture) just call taxis to go anywhere! This place is HIGHLY recommended! You won't find anything even close to this quality at this price. We paid approximately £45 per night.

You could not get more helpful staff, in particular Alexandra and Anna. They managed to find out all kinds of practical information, very useful hints, taxis, transfers, tickets to the Mariinsky etc., much better than the Tourist Office. Breakfast is served in a large corner room that used to be the grand old restaurant where the litterati met. Books, photos, music instruments etc attest to the hotel's artistic associations. NOTE: Although the official address is Malaya Morskaya 13, the entrance is round the corner, a wooden door with a bronze plaque and a keypad. Don't be put off by the smelly entrance hall. The hotel is on the first floor on your left. There is a cosy restaurant round the corner, MESTECHKO, well worth the visit, and Sicaffé also nearby serves light meals, cakes and home-made ice cream.

My husband and I stayed at the apartment at the end of May. This turned out to be a very good choice. The apartment is well located, about 10 minutes’ walk to Moscow railway station (very convenient if you’ve come from Moscow, or are going there). 10 minutes also to the metro and just 5 minutes to the bus stop for buses which will take you to Nevsky Prospect. Very near a nice the bakery, several grocery stores for daily necessities, and the Gallery shopping centre. The apartments themselves are very high-quality – very nice bedding, towels, bathrobes slippers etc, just like an upmarket hotel, and spotlessly clean. The apartments are located on three floors above each other in the house, which is located in the courtyard. To be precise, in the 2nd courtyard. From the street you enter through the gate under the arch into the 1st courtyard, then through another gate to the 2nd courtyard. The gates are kept closed, as is common practice for St Petersburg courtyards of this type (only the inhabitants know the gate codes), Both courtyards are clean. In the 2nd courtyard, where the apartments are we saw lilac flowers and blossom. Once in the flat you cannot hear noise from the street. The entrance is clean. There is no elevator, but I didn’t notice the inconvenience, the manager who met us helped us upstairs with our suitcase. The two managers we met both spoke good English, are friendly, and always ready to help. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay in St. Petersburg. If we go again, we’ll certainly stay there.

Like Moscow its cheaper to not stay in the centre of town and enjoy a vibrant local neighbourhood. Its an easy walk across the bridge to the main tourist attractions or stroll to the metro. We had the only room with a balcony overlooking what is aquiet street and park. Room wwas spacious and clean and bathroom had a heated towel rail. There are no english channels on the tv. If you have mobility issues this hotel is not a good choice as there is not lift and all rooms are upstairs. Breakfast is on the ground floor in the Mary restaurant and is ok for a hotel of this size. We ate at the restaurant for other meals a couple of times. Food is excellent but expensive. We are not big eaters and russian portion sizes are not generous but they were shrunk too much here. Got hungry later in the evening and had some instant noodles. A first. By contrast the portions at the georgian next door are gargantuan. A cute place that we woild stay at again because we love the feel of the neighbourhood.
