We were a group of 16 pilgrims walking the Portuguese Camino. We finished our Camino in this albergue for its tranquility. It is up a hill which could be tuff for injured pilgrims but worth it. Out of the chaos of Santiago. We had a meeting in the yard to wrap up our Camino. It was lovely. We had single room which comes with a sink. There is a market downstairs with a cafeteria, lundry and full kitchen.

We would have rated this hotel a 4 but for the location. It is situated a 12 minute walk from the old town, too far to be going backwards and forwards to the town and there is a feeling of being out of things. As it is on the busy N550 this also is a drawback. Having said all that the hotel itself is fine. The rooms are perfectly clean and comfortable. The breakfast was also all you could wish for.

Firstly can I just say the Receptionists, Susi, Andrea and Juan were so friendly and helpful. They are a complete asset to this hotel as there is no bar or lounge area, so their attentiveness is a must. The hotel itself is in a shopping centre on the outskirts of Santiago. The walk to the Cathedral and centre is probably about 30 minutes and a lot of that is uphill. If you don't think you can manage the walk, there are regular buses outside hotel and also a taxi rank. The room we were allocated was a suite ( thank you for upgrade). It was very large and had a sofa area and there was a jacuzzi bath too. The shower head which was in the bath pointed towards the opposite end of the bath so bracket could do with being changed but that said, the water was always hot. The heating in the room was on a hotel timer and the radiators only came on at about 7.45pm, so the room was cold if you were showering before then. Maybe the management can look into changing this in winter/ spring months to an earlier time? The housekeeping was great with fresh towels and cleaning daily. The breakfast was Continental style with a good selection. My only problem was that the lady who worked on service etc had a very unfriendly manner about her. I arrived at 10.25 am on Monday morning for a cup of tea and just to have a Danish.(Breakfast served until 10.30 am)She rudely informed me that they were closed and when I asked could I take a cup of tea to my room( in my own mug) she told me it would cost me €2!! Considering there are no hospitality trays in the rooms I found that to be ridiculous. She was the only member of staff that let this hotel down. Otherwise it's a very affordable, clean hotel to stay in when in Santiago de Campostela.

I arrived on the night of November 5 after I was released from the hospital. An international flight made an emergency landing to take me off and hospitalize me. The front desk staff could not have been better. Accommodating, generous and sweet. The room was very comfortable, pillows perfect, and the toiletries I needed (luggage not make it) were all I needed. Pilar at front desk the best!!

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Alda San Carlos upon completing the Camino de Santiago. The room was clean and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised that our room, which was next to the elevator and facing the street, was very quiet. Lots of hot water in the shower. The hotel is an easy walk to the Cathedral. The staff were gracious, welcoming, helpful and responsive. Added bonuses: the bus to the airport has a stop just across the street from the hotel and the Victoria Market just up the block has delicious fresh produce, chocolates and pastries!

We were booked into this hotel by Santiago Ways tour company. This was the final night of our Pilgrimage on the Coastal Portuguese Camino. It was by far the worst place we stayed! The room was tiny and faced onto the street; at night a street light shown into the room even with the metal privacy shutters down which constantly rattled with street traffic or even the wind; there was also a lot of street noise from vehicles and people. The walls were apparently thin as we heard people in the hallway (somewhat drunk and/or loud) in the early hours of the morning. The front desk was not manned 24hrs; after 8-9pm (I forget exact hour), the desk person left. The Wifi signal was horrible which made taking our ”guided COVID 19 test” very difficult. You had to squeeze around the toilet to close the door of the bathroom it was so small. Finally, we were supposed to receive a breakfast from this hotel but got nothing! The only positive was that we didn't find any obvious bugs or mold! If you want a low budget option with more privacy than a hostel, I suppose it's ok but for what we paid Santiago Ways for accommodations and meals, this was a total rip-off and a very disappointing way to end to our Pilgrimage.

I’m afraid I cannot understand some of the negative comments about this hotel. We’ve just returned from staying 4 nights for a wedding in the city. We had a superior room with a balcony in the old part, which was spacious. Our daughter had a double room, not so spacious but this an old historic hotel, not a Travel Lodge! The hotel is for sleeping, the town with its hundreds of restaurants within a 10 minute walk away is for exploring. Aviaries are not my thing but my husband loved it and it was cleaned as we were there. There’s a free internet room and little salons for resting if you want to read quietly and stay in from the gear for a while. Breakfast was a massive choice of fresh fruit, cereal, hot and cold buffet, cakes and pastries - self service whilst seated inside or out. We choose outside overlooking the lawn. Served helpfully from 7.30am till 11am. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Late checkout is 12pm. Kept our bags whilst we went for lunch and booked us a taxi to the hotel. If you are a foodie, the market is 2 mins away across the road. Amazing seafood of all types. Luckily customs didn’t check our bags and find all the chorizo and Serrano ham packets stored in there 🤣 I would certainly recommend this hotel and stay again.

I’ve had economy cruise ship cabins that were larger! Seriously, no place to unfold my bag except for the floor where I had to step in or over it to get to the postage stamp bathroom. The sink was the size of a soup bowl and I couldn’t even get a small water bottle under to fill it. Take your headphones for sleep; the walls are thin. Three stars are for the wonderful reception area people who provided outstanding service

It cost us to communicate to know when they sent us the code to enter and that made us nervous because we arrived after midnight. Finally they sent it but it was wrong. Fortunately there's a phone at the door and in a second they resolved it. There is a parking place. Very close to the center and the cathedral. There is very comfortable, modern, touched us the disabled in PB No air conditioning, only heating, as we were in March we noticed the lack, perhaps in summer he feels. We were very comfortable, very comfortable beds, good wifi, no pawn but have a pay-off coffee machine in the room. We were only one night, it was very good.

Bad ,, Bad .. Bad.. What a piece of junk this hotel is. The receptionists were great but then things go downhill from that point on. Then I want to use the bathroom in the lobby but it is under service. It is cordoned for but no one is working there for hours. And when it is working, it is only for 1 person at a time. There is no urinal. They gave me room 115. I walked in and felt the floor buckle. There is a bubble and not even. In my opinion, this room shouldn’t be rented out to anyone. Then the wifi didn’t work. Then the shower head fixture is loose and water is spraying all over the place. The door slams shut and you can hear door slamming at any time. The hotel is a bit far from central. The breakfast has ham and cheese so it is quite adequate. For what I got , it can’t charge anyone more than 30 Euros a night because of the above. The most annoying is the WiFi. When I told the receptionist, he said it is working now which is Bull S _ _ _. It never worked and if when it did, it worked sporadically. I would say don’t stay there , unless the only other option is sleep on a park bench. What a way to end my Camino. A pension in Pedrouzo which cost much less but a magnitude better in service.

I mostly enjoyed my two nights at this hotel. The staff was professional, the room was clean, and breakfast was a beautiful spread. The only thing I wish my ground floor room had was a little more privacy. I wanted to read in my room during one afternoon but the curtains made it too dark and the only other option was the black-out curtains. I wish there had been a sheer curtain option because when I left the doors with no curtain, the gardeners walked by and could see into my room. Not relaxing at all. I did like that the hotel was close enough to walk to the cathedral and the city center but was far enough away to not hear a lot of noise.

Having completed the Camino, we thought that we should stay for several days to relish the experience! What an excellent choice of hotel! The very friendly and helpful staff made our stay delightful. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels supplied. Good amount of space and storage. The location is very central indeed. The cathedral and airport buses were very close to the hotel. The breakfast was plentiful and very good value. However, this hotel may not be for the light sleeper as there are bars etc in close proximity, some of which do not close until the early hours. This did not effect us as we enjoyed the atmosphere and ambience. Once again, the excellect staff made our stay very enjoyable.

Limpieza perfecto tb. We were lucky to stay in this hotel for three nights and could highly recommend it. The room we had was with the direct view on the main square. That is, just a couple of steps away from the Cathedral. The room and the whole hotel felt very new and modern, with great isolation and very clean. The breakfast was standard, but fresh and very affordable (9 euros/person). If you’re staying in Santiago de Compostela - look no further!

First, the good points: the staff are all friendly and helpful, the hotel is clean, and the location is good--within walking distance of the important historic sites. Breakfast was adequate. The bad: the free WiFi was mainly useless in our room on the 4th floor. When we arrived, it didn't work at all. After one of the staff did some tinkering, it worked, though it was very slow and unreliable. To do anything that required a solid connection, it was necessary to go downstairs to the lounge area, and even there, the speed was not great. Our room was ample in size, but seemed to be designed by a mad person. There were sliding doors that opened to reveal...blank walls. Several of the light switches were hidden so we had to have a staff person come up and help us find them (she had difficulty, too--they turned out to be on the sides of the bed platform, almost at floor level). Much of the floor space was occupied by an absurd hot tub, which was too small for a normal-sized adult to sit with legs extended. Note that being close to the cathedral has its downsides: they start ringing bells at 7AM.

We stayed 3 nights in one of the ”atico” rooms on the 4th floor. The location of this hotel is excellent. The staff is very friendly. We had a nice time here overall. I'm not a fan of slanted ceilings and did bump my head a couple times. The hotel room was very clean and daily housekeeping did a nice job. It was very nice of them to provide daily bottled water. The room was pretty spacious but not all areas were useful due to the slanted ceiling. I would have liked to have an extra chair or bench in the room, in the slanted areas, and also bathroom, to place personal items. Just a suggestion for improvement that would be fairly easy for the hotel. I would stay here again if I'm ever in Santiago again.
