|6.38km from city centerThe hotel is in a good location, located at the entrance of Khaola town. There is a restaurant and a small supermarket in the hotel. The room is my favorite large, wooden structure with Thai characteristics. Breakfast was just average, not many varieties, but you can find surprises. Papaya and mango are too sweet. Rice noodles are delicious. Soy beans and rice are everyone's favorite. The hotel's plants are very good, and the garden layout is exquisite. Wild water lizard squirrels are found everywhere. There are two swimming pools next to each other, the deepest in the front is 1.2 meters and the deepest in the back is 1.6 meters, the advantage is that the field of vision is wide and it can be illuminated. The hotel has a parking lot, and some room types can be booked directly for 3 people, which is cheaper than booking 2 + 1. I went around the hotel and still love Laguna.

We stayed in the orchid wing of the hotel and again the room was spotless and very well maintained like everything else here. A compact hotel on even ground so makes it very easy if you have mobility problems.the on site beach front restaurant is very good and no more expensive than eating out at the limited number of restaurants in the area. On site is also an outside sala for massages which again were comparable with those outside the resort price wise and executed very well. There is also in reception a tour desk with a lovely and knowledgeable lady who can sort trips out for you. All the staff here from the gardeners to management are very polite with a happy disposition. If you want a bit of peace and quiet on a lovely stretch of beach and the town and markets within a 10 minute ride away this hotel should be in your thoughts.

|7.17km from city centerWe stayed one night at Morning Hotel. The hotel style reminds me of a Thai Holiday Inn Express, looking so new and super clean and with a similar layout and look. Our room was spartan but decor was really nice with wood look floor and a nice floor lamp to add coziness. The shelving arrangement affords lots of storage space for luggage and to arrange your clothes. Fridge with free water There is no safe. The bed is quite firm and only afterwards did I see another reviewer mentions that staff provided a comforter to make the bed softer. No hot water making in the room, however there is a kitchen for the guests to use downstairs with complimentary tea, coffee, toast, and a micro wave. The owner’s daughter was very kind and helpful to us. She gave us 2 great restaurant recommendations that we loved and are within 1km of the hotel. Currently both these restaurants are not listed on TripAdvisor, but the are clearly popular with locals - thus hidden gems and we did not see foreigners at these restaurants which added to the experience! Lunch - Phan Thai Jai Yen Yen Very famous restaurant chef in the area. Many foreign chefs visit his restaurant - Only open till 16:00hrs so best for lunch Dinner - Krua Nong Michelin award restaurant famous for soft shell crab - Open till around 21:00 or so

Subsequently we asked to stay longer (at the last minute) because we felt really good there, the boss literally took great care of us. The atmosphere is calm but quite nice, so the room can create a zen, friendly and close atmosphere with the other guests. Also well positioned on both sides of the areas sought for tourism. Eventhough the hotel was still in a soft opening (at that time, not so sure about when it's gonna be full operate) but there are so many things than very nice. The room are very nice, clean and fluffy comforatble bed. Also have so many interesting detials about it. The food at the restaurant are DIVINE!! You must try PrumPra!! The food was so delicious yet there are stories in each dish. Breakfast also very nice, stay for 2 night the food are different on each morning, love it. The main pool are next to the beach so my kids can enjoy both at the same time. The pool bar also very nice as well. There's the rock pool next to the beach in the evening you can walk along the coast and enjoy witn the sunset view. The staff are very helpful and ready to help you :) Highly recommend!

|5.1km from city centerFabulous little resort. We have been travelling Thailand for 5 months and this resort is in my top 2 as everything was perfect. Stayed in a pool villa. The pool is really for sitting however very good for cooling off with a drink. The room was spotless and big. The bed and pillows were so comfortable and clean. Bathroom had everything and was spacious with huge shower. The main pool is very clean and modern looking. Staff super friendly. You will need a car or taxi or scooter. We had a car so no problem. The resort is at the north end of the area. Was a little tricky to find but turn left at the road sign and drive down the track you come into the back of the resort. Plenty of parking. Breakfast was served to you. Great coffee! Standard Thai Brekky eggs toast fruit etc enough to start your day.

|5.95km from city centerWords cannot describe how disappointed and disgusted I am with Wandee Bed and Breakfast. In my entire life I have never had such a horrific experience at an accommodation. When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly owner. We were informed the air con in our room didn’t work which we were really upset by seeming as we were in 37 degree heat. On arrival to our room we found animal faeces on our bed and pillow case. The wifi wasn’t very strong and the room was very basic which is expected for the price. My boyfriend managed to manually turn on the air con which we were really happy about as the room was so hot. The owner then came knocking on the door and started shouting and arguing with my boyfriend saying that we weren’t allowed to use the air con and that we had to pack our things within 5 minutes and leave the room to go to another room which only had a fan in as she didn’t trust us. It was unnecessarily aggressive and a complete change in the friendly owner we met initially. Me and my boyfriend were so shocked and upset at the way she spoke to us that we decided we wanted to check out and not stay the 3 nights as we didn’t feel comfortable or happy there. She told us we couldn’t get a refund and after more arguing about getting a refund we contacted booking.com to help. She then black mailed us saying she’d only give us a refund if we wrote on paper that we faked our complaint and story to booking.com so she could take a photo and send it to them to get herself out of trouble?! She insulted my boyfriend saying he talked too much and shouted loudly at us. She even threatened she’d call the police as that’s what she’s done to past people who’ve complained. She said she didn’t care if we left a bad review. Her attitude towards us as guests was disgusting and I wouldn’t recommend wasting your money here on someone who shouldn’t even have the licence to run a bed and breakfast business in the first place! We booked our stay here as a lot of the past reviews were very positive even about the owner. But it’s all an act! Her true colours really came out and if you’re a backpacker like myself and my boyfriend there are plenty of other cheap hotels with NICE owners, better wifi and rooms with both a fan and air con you can use to book! Oh and no faeces on your bed (that’s a plus!) You’re in Thailand to enjoy your stay, feel comfortable and happy…this place is the last place in Thailand that will make you feel this way. The owner is a malicious, rude and blackmailing woman who I wouldn’t even dare leave my dog with at her appalling excuse for accommodation.

The owner was great, really helpful and we enjoyed our breakfast every morning. Rooms were clean and there's a small swimming pool which we made use of a few times to cool down in the afternoons. The nearby resort areas are within walking distance, or you can hire a moped. We hired a moped for a few days--fair price and no messing about with condition or anything like that. If we go back to khao lak we would definitely stay there again.

Unpretentious, clean, affordable, well located rooms. The beach is little more than 5 mins walk. Plenty of decent restaurants around (though many closed during current covid times). Comfy bed, new AC machines, towels, a perfectly sassy front of house host. Good stuff - would stay again, would recommend to a friend. It ain’t fancy, but the value for money is on point. The place was a little difficult to spot. Maybe they normally have a big sign but the current road expansion going on has moved it? Dunno.. anyway.. it’s where it says on maps so rely on that rather than looking for a sign.

Over the road 7 leven and the market (works 3 times a week). The prices on the market are slightly more expensive than in Phuket. The initial price for strips and souvenirs is more in 2-3 than the final. Cafes of all different lots, starting from 60 bates per dish in cheap. Staff at the hotel is just wonderful, especially the girl on the recipes. In the room safe (on the key), refrigerator, TV (without Russian channels), air conditioner, extract with a fan. Wonderful balcony (we had 3 floors). Very delicious breakfast (in a nearby hotel) with views of a small river and mountain. There is a thick raisins)))) In the toilet half the concrete floor, so the esthetes are not here)))) But there is a stream heater. They give up 0.5 water every day and beach towels. Almost every day in the bar (comfortable) live music. There are some two bars separated by the entrance. In one table and shelves with books ... There you can eat if you want. In general, the feeling as if you finally returned home ... In step-by-step availability a couple of Buddhist temples (there is still, but a little further), the museum of tsunami. The near frame is still being built, in the second impressive Buddha statue. The road traffic is small, so the bike can be taken boldly. 6 km from the hotel, on the road behind the second 7 leven, there is a river with waterfalls (input 200 baths from a person). Prices are slightly lower than the tour operators. There are no noisy disco bars in this part of Kao Laka. It is a quiet beach holiday. It is also good for beach runners.

|5.03km from city centerI stayed in a standard room . This spatious , very clean AC-room with kingsize bed has a private bathroom ( with all the ammennities you need ) . Tv with some English spoken channels , a fridge and good Wi-Fi . Outside my room , two chairs and a small table where i could relax after a refreshing jump into the clean swimming pool , which was 5 meters from my frontdoor . The very friendly and helpfull staff cleaned my room everyday . Tasty breakfast ( toast , little club- sandwiches , eggs , coffee , orange juice ,..... ). This resort is very well located near many restaurants and shops . About 15 minutes to walk to beautifull Nang Thong Beach . If you have any question of problem during your stay , just go see MUAY . She will do her very best to make sure you can enjoy your stay and have a relaxing holiday . Thanks Muay 😉

|4.16km from city centerWe stayed for 4 nights with 2 young children (1 and 7 years old). We arrived after a very long trip flying into Phuket from Amsterdam. We were the only guests staying before they closed for the season, but we never felt not welcome. On the contrary ;-)Mr Aom and his family took excellent care of us. We stayed in the family house on the ground floor which with our kids was great. Really really comfortable beds. They did not have a baby bed but provided us with a small matras that we put of the floor of the second bedroom. On our request they made us a daily breakfast that was simple but homemade and more than enough to start our day. You will need transport to get around Khao Lak as everything is spread out. We rented scooter from the resort. We really enjoyed Memories Beach bar, could easily have spend a day there. Best food we had was at Krua Thai restaurant, probably best in all our holiday, so do make the effort to go there. Also easy to spend a whole afternoon as the beach is gorgeous. We took the jungle trail to Small Sandy Beach, which was challenging with the kids but the beach itself is absolutely worth it. You can also take the easy 400mtr dirt road (we didn't know that...) A couple meters from the resort is Happy Snapper, a lovely restaurant with a great garden to explore. We tried the night market in Khoa Lak but were a bit disappointed by the quality of the food. All in all we truly enjoyed our stay at Grandfather Resort and Khao Lak was a good choice for us. Mr Aom arranged our transport to our next stop Khao Sok which was all well taken care of. Thank you Mr Aom and your family and cat Gucci. Will recommend.

The terrace rooms are very good in a great location and have a priceless view of the sea. The massage on the beach is fantastically beautiful. the breakfast is ala card at the moment because there are few guests. But that's completely ok because you don't have to rely on buffet times and everyone only orders what they eat. we will return there again as it has become a home for us in Khaolak. everyone was so grateful that we were there as guests. it was a wonderful time here. 2 weeks unforgettable! Die Terrassenzimmer sind sehr gut in toller Lage und haben einen unbezahlbaren Meerblick. Die Massage am Strand ist traumhaft schön. Das Frühstück ist im Moment ala Karte, weil nur wenige Gäste da sind. Das ist aber völlig ok, da man sich nicht auf Buffetzeiten verlassen muss und jeder nur das bestellt, was er isst. Wir werden wieder dorthin zurückkehren, da es in Khaolak zu einem Zuhause für uns geworden ist. Alle waren so dankbar, dass wir als Gäste da waren. Pros:

In addition, while this company operates only Balniang Market and Kiolak Center, it operates by setting a time only for going back and forth between the first market and the two centers, so if you go to the center from the market or go to the center from the market, you will be the first Because the return point is changed, they receive an additional 100 baht per person.
I had experience using jw Marriott Kiolak Resort several years ago. Je Marriott provided a free service from the hotel itself to the market or center by resort vehicle, but Robin Khao Lak Resort is very regrettable in this respect.
Unfortunately, the service mind of the employees of the consignment company is quite disappointing, and in the case of returning to the resort after switching centers and markets, it is necessary to correct the additional cost of 100 baht per person.
For example, for a round trip to the center, two people have to pay 400 baht for a round trip, but if you move from the center to the market on your own and take the return vehicle from the market, you will have to pay an additional 200 baht.
Although it may not provide the service for free like Jw Marriott, just changing the return location from the market to the center and paying extra for riding a vehicle only makes the image of the resort bad.
Every time I travel to Thailand, I can't erase the feeling that the image of Thailand is getting worse. It needs to be improved every time, but the image is getting worse and worse, so it seems that next time I will have to change my travel destination to Vietnam.
It was a bit of a disappointing trip.

From the minute we arrived to the minute we left the service was outstanding. Maria, Bas and Wen are so attentive and friendly, they were always smiling and want you to have the best time. The eggs were cooked perfectly every day and always with a smile.(Thank you Wen :)) The bungalows are lovely and always cleaned to perfection. The towels are changed daily.. Fab air con too. The pool is lovely, warm and very clean with sun beds and parasols. We were offered to go on a trip with Maria, Bas and Wen to a market which was amazing. I cannot fault anything during our 13 night visit...Staying at the Oasis made our holiday even more special. But it was Maria, Bas and Wen that did it for us they are truly loving,caring, happy people who make you feel so much at home. This place is priceless.. We’ve already booked next year.WOW WOW WOW

|4.58km from city centerWas so impressed with this hotel 5 years ago that we returned again in October 2023 and they gave us the same room we occupied before. This was a water pool access room which is a must if you stay here. The rooms are large with a massive bed and has all the facilities you could wish for. Although we did no eat our main meals in the Italian restaurant we had breakfast which covers all variety of foods and freshly cooked eggs and bacon on request. All the staff are very pleasant and helpful. A particular mention to Tounchai the barman who served us daily at the pool bar during Happy hour with delicious cocktails. Also to the maid (sorry can't remember her name) who cleaned our room 1123 and left wonderful creations on our bed. The hotel is situated within 5 minutes walk from the beach and close to many bars and restaurants. Bang Niang Market which is 2 mins walk is open every Mon, Weds, Thur and Sat which does street food and has many stalls. The Waters is highly recommended.

Last night and this morning - because the walls of this hotel are so thin, my children were subjected to hours of rampant sex cries , moans & skin slapping noises, with the bed banging and squeaking for hours up until 1.30am last night and then again this morning it woke us up at 9am as they were at it again My 9 year old daughter was so uncomfortable with this she was in tears and very confused - the walls are so thin you could hear intimate details , skin slapping and heavy breathing with sex talk , it was embarrassing and scary for both my children we could hear everything through the paper thin walls. It was extremely awkward, very uncomfortable and an unpleasant experience . Just as that stopped last night at 1.30, a noisy family came back to the room on the other side, loud talking, baby crying and they put the TV on at volume- again, because the walls are so thin, there was no escape from it. Finally we managed to fall asleep only to be woken again at 4am by the baby screaming. We tried to talk to 2 different people about it at reception but they just shrugged there’s shoulders didn’t offer to move our room or a refund no help whatsoever . We have tried to raise it with agoda repeatedly but they are not interested and just offered me a £40 credit on our next booking and have still charged us £455 as we left the hotel early and said it’s the hotels policy not there’s even though we paid agoda in full before hand . To top it off the extra bed my son had been given ( which cost £13 a day ) was literally so hard it was like a block of concrete and the blanket had several holes in it. This was a terrible night of sleep as we were trapped in the room between the loud sex and the screaming baby. I understand these things go on in private, but the walls are so thin, you cannot get away from what is going on next door and children (nor adults!) should not have to be subjected to someone else’s intimate sex noises . It meant the holiday had started with a unpleasant experience that made it feel more like torture than a holiday and there is no way I would let my children stay in that environment again ( surely any decent parent would agree with me ? ) . None of us wanted to return to that hotel as things that should be private cannot be private in that hotel because the walls are obviously so thin . On top of this the hotel is in a very poor state and needs to be refurbished throughout . The rooms are dark & dingy and the mattresses are like solid planks . The shower is very poor and makes the whole bathroom wet and the floor like a ice rink . The pool has so much chemicals in it after swimming for half an hour my throat went totally dry and I had trouble swallowing and my sons as well ( we have never had this before at any pool ) - throat was fine as soon as we left the pool . Only minus is breakfast and the food of the restaurants, it is more delicious outside the resort. Not much variety for breakfast, and restaurants for dinner are at restaurant overpriced, you expect more for this price.

|8.85km from city centerWe travelled with 3 families (6 adults and 4 kids 8-12) and stayed for 2 weeks. This was our second visit to Mai Khao Lak and we were equally as happy. Stayed in the top section (pool access jacuzzi suite). Modern, clean room with a separate living room, which doubles as a kid's room. Walk off the balcony into private spa area which joins massive swimming pool. There are no shortage of wet options with 5 pools from the beachfront area to the peaceful adults only pool area at the top of the resort. Loads of choices for bars and food. The new Thai restaurant by the beach is very comfortable with great food. At the kids pool area there is another kitchen and bar with great lunch options. The staff are always friendly and helpful. There is an hourly free shuttle bus from reception to town which is convenient, otherwise walk to the beachfront and you can get a tuk tuk (if you order through reception it will cost more!). Breakfast buffet is easy to navigate, with a huge selection of coffee / tea, fresh fruits / yoghurts, cooked food, cereal, pastries, cakes and sweets, loads of bread choices and cold cuts & cheeses. This was a big highlight for the kids and great way for us to all gather and catch up to start the day together. The beach and ocean are very nice, and the many options of beachfront bars, restaurants, laundry services and massage places are all within a 1-5 minute walk from the resort. We visited most of these during our stay and never had a bad experience. Kids club is awesome with plenty of fun and varied activities to engage the kids. If I had to fault something - the internet inside our room was poor, but in most other areas of the resort it was fine. So the 2 big questions... would we go back (a third time)? YES! and would we recommend it to friends? YES! Thanks to everyone at Mai Khao Lak for another memorable experience! See you next time!
