0.51km from Paddington LibraryI stayed at Wedgewood Hotel for a week in January and I was pleasantly surprised! The reception staff were all friendly and mostly helpful, in particular the lady who works evening shifts most nights, who was extremely friendly and helpful throughout my stay. My single room was small, but well organised with ample storage space and bright with high ceilings, it wasn't at all claustrophobic. The bathroom was well equipped, the shower had good pressure and was plenty warm. The complementary hand soap and shampoo were of excellent quality. The walls were thin meaning that loud guests could often be heard in other rooms. In any other city in the UK, this wouldn't be an issue, but in a city as international as London where people operate on different time zones, it can be a problem. The single bed was comfortable enough, but nothing to write home about! The complementary breakfast I was offered during my stay was basic but welcome in a budget hotel in London. A buffet of two cereals and white or brown toast with fruit juice tea and coffee. There was a wide variety of jams for the toast which were all good quality The breakfast room is well laid out and offered plenty of seating space, although I'd get in when breakfast starts at 0730, particularly on the weekends. I did have a couple of issues with my stay. The first was the cleanliness of the rooms. Whilst none of the horror stories of other reviews came to fruition in my stay, there were still hairs and marks on the bedding and furniture that showed a lack of care, even in a budget London room. If I were the hotel owner, I would take the time to deep clean the rooms and assess the condition of the furnishings. Second, a hotel guest decided to smoke in their room a couple of nights during my stay. The smell travelled through the ventilation system in the bathroom and caused my entire room to smell of cigarettes. I understand this was unavoidable but the receptionist was extremely helpful, forthright and apologetic and did all they could to help. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Wedgewood Hotel again. It's a perfectly reasonable budget hotel in a great location in London that could be made even better with a slight up on the cleaning.
