Hotel front desk staffs were very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed talking to them. Hotel room is just perfect for a Solo traveller in terms of room size, facilities, lighting, etc. I love the room interior. It looks bright and motivating. Lighting is bright which I always prefer and I have the option to switch off some lights if I want it a bit darker before sleeping. Toilet looks compact but there is certainly enough space to take shower and do other stuff. There is a sofa which makes the room look more classy. The bed, pillow and sofa are very comfortable. I was able to adjust the Aircon and keep myself warm and comfortable. In room dining service was excellent. I ordered a vegetarian dish and it was tasty. Hotel is conveniently situated within CBD and I am able to walk over to wherever I want or take tram and travel around the city. I love this hotel and I will stay in this hotel again when I revisit Melbourne in the coming months.FromPLN 343

The hotel's location is quite convenient; it's about a 10-minute walk to shopping areas, and Chinatown isn't too far either. It's especially suitable for families with children, as they offer family rooms. The two-bedroom, one-living room layout is excellent, with bedrooms on either side of the living room, which helps maintain privacy. This room type also includes breakfast, so there's no need to book an additional breakfast package.FromPLN 615

Novotel Melbourne on Collins was a fantastic base for our family trip! The location truly is perfect – having multiple free city tram stops within 100 meters made exploring effortless. We easily walked to major spots like Flinders Street Station and the stunning State Library Victoria. Food options were plentiful nearby, making ”food hunting” a breeze.
A major plus for us was the onsite parking. Renting a car was stress-free knowing we had a guaranteed, convenient spot each night (parking fee applicable, refer to hotel front desk).
The room was impressively spacious, comfortably accommodating our family of two adults and a kid. Having two queen-size beds was ideal – everyone had plenty of room to sleep well.
**Things that could elevate the experience further:**
1. Breakfast Variety: While the breakfast was good, a wider selection of hot and cold options would be appreciated, especially for a longer stay.
2. TV Upgrade: The current TV channel is very limited. Upgrading to Smart TVs with access to streaming platforms like Netflix and YouTube would be a huge improvement for in-room entertainment, especially for families with young kids / toddler.
3. Shaving Kit Quality:The provided shaving kit's ”cream” (which was a soap) and blade weren't great. Offering a slightly higher quality kit with proper shaving cream would be a noticeable touch.
**Overall:** We had a very comfortable and convenient stay thanks to the unbeatable location, easy parking, and spacious family room. Addressing the breakfast variety, TV upgrade, and shaving kit quality would easily push this towards a perfect 5-star experience. Highly recommended, especially for families needing space and city access.FromPLN 524

Check-in was smooth and the staff were genuinely friendly, creating a great first impression. The hotel’s location is ideal—nestled between two major roads within the CBD’s free tram zone.
My room was on the 9/F and top floor, spacious and well-appointed. Though the hotel is surrounded by buildings and doesn’t offer any view, it’s peaceful and practical. coin-operated laundry and dryer are available onsite, with laundry powder sold at reception for $1 AUD, which is quite handy for extended stays.
The television doesn’t support direct login to streaming platforms like Netflix, but I easily mirrored content from my personal device. This workaround worked well for casual viewing during my downtime.
There were a few downsides. One pillow had a visible mold stain, which raised a hygiene concern. I had my Do Not Disturb sign displayed throughout my stay, yet housekeeping entered and cleaned the room on my final day. It was an unexpected breach of privacy, and I hope the hotel takes note and reinforces respect for guest preferences.
Despite these minor issues, the overall experience was highly satisfying. The combination of its prime location, spacious rooms, thoughtful amenities, and friendly service makes this hotel a dependable and comfortable choice.FromPLN 397

If you’re looking for a hotel with high-rise city views, this may not be the one for you. But if you appreciate heritage architecture, this is a fantastic choice. Housed in a beautifully restored former equity building, the hotel blends classic charm with modern comfort. I especially liked the historic elevator features and the Luci restaurant, whose vintage design adds a unique touch to the breakfast experience. Speaking of which, breakfast was lovely - THOUGH I do wish barista-made coffee was included, considering the price point.
Service throughout the hotel was consistently excellent. The front desk staff were warm and welcoming, creating a human and heartfelt atmosphere right from check-in. Room service was impressively responsive. One time our in-room dining order arrived a bit late, but the kitchen made up for it with a thoughtful gesture, which really enhanced the overall experience.
The bathroom had a semi-open shower design, but water didn’t splash out much, so it wasn’t an issue. I also really appreciated the full set of Hunter Lab toiletries. It’s a great touch to feature high-end Australian products that reflect the local character.
All in all, I’d recommend this hotel for its service and comfortable, well-thought-out experience.FromPLN 592

The breakfast was probably the worst I had in a 5-star hotel. The variety was limited and the quality was bad, e.g. only 3 kinds of fresh fruits and the water melon looked pale. The bathroom was big but the shower place was so tiny. I tried to use the top shelf of the wardrobe. Luckily I used my hand to test if there was any dust. The dust flied right into my eyes when I used my hand to feel the cleaniness! The heat was so insufficient. Their house keeping staff was poor trained. I asked not to clean my room by hanging a sign on the room and turning on the Do the Disturb light. To my surprise, I went back to the room in the afternoon. The staff came in the room. Drew open the curtain. Turned off the Do not disturb. Did not do any cleaning but left me a note that they already cleaned my room according to the instructions! The hotel was also poor in maintenance. I finished breakfast (in the basement) and tried to go back to the room by the lift. The lift came but could not close the door. There was also a staff there and she advised me to take the steps to ground floor. I went to ground floor and only found another lift was out of service. They only had 3 lifts going to the rooms. Beisdes the location which is very central, I cannot thnk of anything to appreciate the experience.FromPLN 753

The hotel was easy to find and offered 24-hour free parking, though it cost $80 a day. However, street parking in front and behind the hotel was free from 6:30 PM to 7:30 AM. After 7:30 AM, you had to pay, with rates of $4 per hour on weekdays and $2 on weekends. You might need to search a bit for a spot.
The room was spacious and came with slippers. They provided four bottles of mineral water daily, and if that wasn't enough, they'd send more upon request – room service was super fast! The room was also very clean.
The breakfast selection wasn't huge, but it was very refined. The buffet restaurant had a unique tiered design. Since I had a stroller, they set me up on a separate level with plenty of space, so it didn't bother anyone. The only minor inconvenience was needing help carrying the stroller up and down the stairs, but the staff were always willing to assist.
I loved the convenient yet quiet location. It was a 12-15 minute walk to Chinatown and just a 2-minute walk to the tram stop. There's also a large park right outside for a relaxing stroll.FromPLN 792

Prices were quite high due to the holiday, and I chose this hotel mainly for its location. The staff were friendly, but the facilities are *extremely* basic, so please be prepared. The hand soap was watered down, and there were no tissues, so bring your own. The exhaust fan is centrally controlled and cannot be turned off. The AC was incredibly loud and kept rattling, making it impossible to sleep if it wasn't turned off. Also, the building is very old; you'll hear creaking noises from people walking around, even if they're not close to your room. This can be quite unsettling in the middle of the night or wake you up in the morning. If you're a light sleeper, I'd advise caution! However, if the price is normal and very good value, it might be worth considering. The location is indeed very convenient.FromPLN 259

We had a lovely trip in all until the last day. We decided to use the washer and dryer in the room over night before our checkout only to wake up in the morning to find it had malfunctioned. We had a “late” checkout of 10.30 and upon letting the manager on duty know of the issue around 9am we were only given until 11 to check out. A maintenance man came to look at the machine and was just told it was broken. We were told to use the communal dryers but because the machine had malfunctioned the clothes were dripping wet and after a wasted 2 hours of our final day in Melbourne we reluctantly threw away some clothes and packed the remainder damp. The manager did nothing to assist us or actually show any concern except for us leaving the room. We had also minor issues with the room and hair balls every where and not being able to get our room serviced on a Sunday for some reason. Although we picked this apartment stay for a hotel like feel we were left disappointed in the service and amenities of the place.FromPLN 646

The location is fantastic. Most major city attractions are within walking distance, and the free tram stop is just around the corner. Australia's two main supermarkets, Coles and Woolworths, are also only a short walk away, and it's right next to the library.
The room I booked came with amenities like a microwave and a kettle, which made it very convenient for heating up groceries. The room was perfectly adequate for two people. For those booking a small group tour to the Great Ocean Road via Ctrip, hotel pick-up is available.

I was so happy because I really needed to catch up on sleep after a long flight. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant, and since it was my birthday, they brought us wine and a small cake! It was truly a perfect experience. The hotel offers great value for money, the room was very spacious, and the view was fantastic. I'll definitely be back!FromPLN 766

The Pullman Melbourne Albert Park was a beautiful place to stay! 10/10 would recommend and would stay again. Concierge staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Room service food was excellent, cocktails were fresh and well presented, breakfast was to die for! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, it had everything we needed! Parking on site was affordable, safe and easily accessible, shared amenities such as the pool and gym were well maintained. Definitely a great option for accommodation!FromPLN 499

The Savoy Hotel was a jewel find after much searching for a convenient accommodation near the Southern Cross Station. It was just across the road!
The staff were friendly and efficient. The room was spacious and clean. We had to request for slippers as some amenities are provided on request.

The location is right on the edge of the city center, lively and quiet, the environment is good. However, the front desk is not in the same place as the apartment and needs to be found, so it is best to know some English. In addition, the house is separated by a partition, the sound insulation effect is not very good, the party is opened next door, and it is very loud.FromPLN 659

📍 Prime Location
Quay West’s address on Flinders Lane puts you right in the heart of everything. A few steps takes you to the iconic Yarra River, Federation Square, and Melbourne’s best shopping and café districts. Whether you’re in town for business, arts, or dining, having public transport, laneways, and nightlife within easy walking distance is a huge convenience.
✨ Impeccable Cleanliness
From the moment you enter the foyer, the high standard of cleanliness across public areas and suites is clear. Plush carpets, sparkling bathrooms, and neatly made beds—everything felt fresh and immaculate throughout my stay. Housekeeping did a flawless job refreshing the room each day without ever interrupting my schedule.
👨💼 Friendly, Attentive Service
Customer service here is both professional and warm. Front desk staff greeted me by name and were quick to offer directions, recommend hidden-gem eateries, and help with luggage. Room service was punctual, meals were presented beautifully, and every staff interaction made me feel genuinely welcome—not just another guest.
🧭 Thoughtful Facilities
It’s the little things at Quay West that stand out:
• A well-equipped kitchenette in each suite––perfect for a relaxing breakfast or a quick late-night snack.
• In-room laundry facilities saved me from hunting down laundromats mid-trip.
• The comfortable lounge and communal spaces offer a quiet place to work or unwind.
• Gym and heated indoor pool, both kept spotless and perfect for a post-city exploration cooldown.FromPLN 663

Upon first checking in, I found the hotel to be quite ordinary. However, after staying for a few days, I realized how convenient and comfortable it truly was. The hotel breakfast was also delicious! A special shout-out goes to a Chinese waitress in the restaurant who was incredibly polite and provided exceptional service – absolutely 10/10! Unfortunately, she was off on my check-out day, so I didn't get a chance to say goodbye.FromPLN 432

Booked a Deluxe Room with Spa. I like the jacuzzi, the nespresso and T2 Tea, and the Appelles shampoo, body wash and hair conditione. Fitness centre is small but good enough for my purpose. Overall very nice for a holiday stay.FromPLN 606

I loved the Lyall!
It’s tucked away on a quiet street in a quiet area. The hotel is peaceful, clean and smelled amazing! The room felt extremely comfortable. It was spacious and gorgeously clean. The balcony was so charming. We loved having the option of taking a bath with the bath tub. Sheets were extremely crisp and comfortable too. Special shoutout to the black out curtains. Had 2 very restful nights here. Came home early from dinner just to spend more time in the room, we loved it!

We had multiple issues with our 7 nights stay. Which some has been addressed and fixed immediately. One thing we do recommend to confirm check upon arrival or when booking.
Lack of view - we’ve booked the 1 bedroom premium room. From the pictures it looked like floor to ceiling big windows with open view but we were assigned to a room situated in the heritage floors (2nd) which the windows are 1.5m high so have to tippy toes to see the view. Limited sunlight also, bathroom has no window.
Issues we encountered
1) hall way light - wasn’t working on the first night when we checked in at 11pm. We couldn’t even find our room number cause it was so dark, we used the torch on our phone. Wasn’t a nice first impression if you are scared of dark hallways. The sensor was fixed the next day.
2) phone wasn’t working - so we couldn’t contact the front desk. We got in late with a toddler, so we put on ‘do not disturb’ sign but someone banged the door at 8am, to reach us to ‘fix the issues’. Not sure why can’t they just slip us a note under the door.
3) so many flies - the breakfast restaurant have serious pest issues. There were more than 10 flies flying around the buffet and the tables. We didn’t feel comfortable eating there after one visit. The whole duration of the meal, we were waiving off the fly. Major hygiene concern!
4) housekeeping was very average, barely cleaned the room daily. Only made the bed.
5) overall the staff were all friendly, special appreciation to the male staff at the breakfast room. The lady duty manager didn’t seem friendly, carries an attitude and likes to talk over you.
Location is great, round the corner from the tram line.
Will I stay again, most likely not. Feels more like a 4 star hotel, definitely not 5 star.FromPLN 638

Good: Great location near china town, trams, and attractions. Very friendly staff that is happy to help you. Easy to get to and from the airport. Breakfast was good with decent variety.
Not so good: The shower open design makes it difficult to have a pleasant warm shower. Everything will get wet so make sure to get extra towels.

Rydges is a great hotel and the location is perfect. This is my second time staying here. The first time, I booked a Deluxe King Corner Room with the church view, that room is absolutely gorgeous. This time we stayed in a Twin King Suite. The view isn’t as nice, but having the beds separated from the sitting area is perfect, especially for the kids bedtime.
A couple of downsides: the pool isn’t very kid-friendly if your children aren’t strong swimmers, or if you’re shorter and need to supervise them closely. The shallow end is still 1.2 metres deep. The couch in the room is also not very comfortable, honestly, the floor felt like a better option. We also had trouble getting through to reception from the room phone. We tried calling four times with no answer and ended up walking down, which was fine, but a bit inconvenient. Room service picked up quickly though, so I’m not sure if there’s an issue with their reception line.
Overall, still a lovely stay, just a few things to be aware of.

This is definitely a hotel I'd want to stay at again; check-in was super smooth. The room and bed were really small, but it's newly renovated and has everything you need, plus a nice city view from the window. The price was fantastic, and the location is super convenient – you can walk everywhere you want to go in the city. The only downside is that it's a bit close to the train tracks, so light sleepers might want to bring earplugs. The air conditioning kept showing errors and wasn't working very well.

The SkyBus is right downstairs, a direct 30-minute ride to the airport. It's super convenient as Southern Cross Station is also downstairs, making it easy to get anywhere. The CBD is close by, and there are plenty of dining options. It's perfect for business travel.

The location is indeed very convenient.

The location is great—close to the CBD, so no issues there. However, the bathroom layout was disappointing. There was no holder for essentials inside the shower, and the towel rack was placed far from the shower area. I'm not sure how they came up with such an impractical design.
Overall, I’d say the hotel deserves an average rating.
