We live in the heart of Chinatown and although it is very vibrant, fantastic, and safe you will see homeless people and people in active addiction in the neighborhood. For the most part, these folks are harmless, but it can be sad and heartbreaking to see. There are multiple reasons for this - far too many to delve into here; all three levels of government are working on making it better. While our suite is several blocks south of the epicenter you are likely to encounter homelessness or addiction issues. Please note this is prevalent throughout downtown Vancouver, and if you are uncomfortable with these encounters you may prefer to stay at a high-end hotel or choose a property outside of downtown. We have lived in the neighborhood for over 12 years and have never experienced any violence or problems and neither have any of our guests. We loved this place, very friendly and caring owner and manager who made sure we were taken care of before we moved in and after check out. The condo is very strategically located in Vancouver, easy access to all areas by public transport or walking. Good view from the condo. There is a very big oriental supermarket and Costco nearby. Great for grocery shopping; we had everything in the kitchen for home cooked meals too. Chinatown is within walking distance, plenty of food in the area from all international cuisines.

I am happy to have stayed here. The location is very vibrant — thanks in large part to the hostel’s bar and its ridiculously good happy hour — and the rooms are cozy. It is enjoyable to be in such a historic hostel. The exorbitant charge for a towel is my only major gripe, but the place gets bonus points for having two cool cats! Would gladly stay again.

The staff that I interacted with gave subpar service. No eye contact, just wanted to get rid of you all the time, etc. I was satisfied with the facilities especially the free breakfast which were good. I did not enjoy the noise and vibration past 10am which came from the first floor. Staying at the second floor was too close to all the noise.

Very convenient location if your sim is to be right in the city center. The two subway train lines are within a couple of minutes walk ,as is the main high street. The Canada line provides a direct route to the train station (tip: buy a day ticket and it will cost less that the ticket to cross zones plus the additional airport surcharge). The Canada line is so convenient that if you did not care about being in the city center then staying somewhere else along the line further out may be cheaper. Hostel was clean and well organized. There is a strict no eating in the room policy, though there are kitchen facilities to be used. Hire a towel. Rooms and front entrance has key card access. Room has no Aircon so can be warm, though there is a small electric fan. The room with two beds has bunk bed, cages under the bed and a stool….that is it. There are no privacy curtains, individual dockets or lights for each bed, only the main room light so make sure you have a touch/light, though as the curtains do not block all street light the room feels as it has a nightlight on and does not ever get really dark. I stayed Saturday and Sunday night. Sunday was quiet , though the hostel is above a bar and do Saturday had music playing for many hours while trying to get to sleep not the place for light sleepers.

Jennifer is a nice host, the first day I stepped into her house, she was welcoming me with passion, and she explained things that I needed to know. At the time of staying, I had couple times chatting with her, she was a nice lady that willing to give suggestions and advice on lives. The room is clean and tidy, it's bright and comfortable, even the bathroom is clean and neat. It is a nice experience and I really love staying here and hanging out with the host.

Staying at this place during my Vancouver trip was absolutely the right and fortunate choice! I truly hope to have the chance to return. The **location is incredibly convenient**, situated very close to both the airport and downtown tourist attractions. A public transit station is just 1.5km away, and there's a bus stop only 400 meters from the property, making getting around a breeze. What truly set this stay apart was the **host's exceptional guidance and warmth**. From the moment I confirmed my booking until just before my arrival, they promptly emailed me detailed directions tailored to my estimated arrival time, including clear instructions on how and where to access the property. What was especially heartwarming was that I arrived past 10 PM when it was completely dark, yet the host had already turned on the warm yellow lights in the living room and backyard for me. It was like a welcoming beacon in the dark, instantly making me feel comfortable and at home. The **room itself was well-equipped, spotless, and incredibly tidy**. The bedroom linens were pristine, and it came with a handy wardrobe, a private bathroom, and reliable WiFi. The dominant white color scheme made everything feel bright and airy, but more importantly, every single item was meticulously cleaned, which truly enhanced my overall mood and stay. Beyond the private space, the **shared amenities were excellent**. On the ground floor, guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable living room, and a washing machine, making the facilities truly comprehensive and convenient. Finally, the **surrounding environment and air quality were superb**. The house is nestled in a residential area surrounded by other homes and plenty of trees. Being off the main road, there was absolutely no noise, allowing us to fully appreciate the fresh air and tranquility of this lovely garden-like setting within the city. Overall, this stay was truly a highlight of my Vancouver trip!

I stayed Saturday and Sunday night. Sunday was quiet , though the hostel is above a bar and do Saturday had music playing for many hours while trying to get to sleep not the place for light sleepers.

We loved this place, very friendly and caring owner and manager who made sure we were taken care of before we moved in and after check out. The condo is very strategically located in Vancouver, easy access to all areas by public transport or walking. Good view from the condo. There is a very big oriental supermarket and Costco nearby. Great for grocery shopping; we had everything in the kitchen for home cooked meals too. Chinatown is within walking distance, plenty of food in the area from all international cuisines.

The staff that I interacted with gave subpar service. No eye contact, just wanted to get rid of you all the time, etc. I was satisfied with the facilities especially the free breakfast which were good. I did not enjoy the noise and vibration past 10am which came from the first floor. Staying at the second floor was too close to all the noise.

Beautiful huge house suitable for travelers who don't mind staying in a shared house. Wifi is excellent everywhere. Also has a Laundry room. The host is very helpful since their family lives in the house. Location wise, it's easy to travel by bus to metro transit. Bus typically get you to downtown in 30 mins. Otherwise you can just rent a car and park it outside the house. There's food and stores about 5 mins walk down the road, there's also a sports center if you wanna go for a run on their tracks.

I am happy to have stayed here. The location is very vibrant — thanks in large part to the hostel’s bar and its ridiculously good happy hour — and the rooms are cozy. It is enjoyable to be in such a historic hostel. The exorbitant charge for a towel is my only major gripe, but the place gets bonus points for having two cool cats! Would gladly stay again.

We had a comfortable stay in a clean room that was even cuter than it looked in the photos! Each room has a number lock, so you can rest assured about security. The hosts were all very warm and kind! They were happy to store our luggage before check-in, introduced us to their two cats, and had a lot of fun talking to us! The nearest station is just under a 20-minute walk, or less than 10 minutes if you take a bus from the nearby bus stop. It's close to the airport and tourist spots, so it's easy to get around. I'd definitely like to stay here again if I go to Vancouver!
