I've stayed at the Pepper Tree Inn several times in the last decade and was always pleased with my stay. However, I was super disappointed in my stay this past weekend. First of all, we couldn't check into our room until nearly 6 p.m., after being told the room would be ready by the promised check-in time of 4 p.m. I understand they are short-staffed, and I was promised a 50% refund on my room. Upon entering the room, it was stiflingly hot and I realized the Pepper Tree doesn't have any AC. I should have checked the website, but I guess I just assumed they would have this amenity. Basically, it was super hard to sleep because it was so stuffy and warm in the room. Overall, the property seemed tired and worn-out, and the pool filled with mulch is so depressing. Very sad - this hotel is not at all what I remember. I'm hoping it's just a Covid recovery situation and that it will improve over the coming months. I'd still come back and stay there in the winter, but unless they get AC, I wouldn't recommend it for a summer visit.From$109

Visited the hotel between Sept 17-18. The location is wonderful, along with the provided amenities. Josh at the front desk helped us check in smoothly and provided excellent service during our stay. Josh went above and beyond what would normally be expected from your typical guest services and did a fantastic job accommodating our requests. Would recommend a trip out to the Granlibakken if you ever get a chance.From$189

We stopped at this waterside restaurant for lunch after some hiking. We arrived on a busy Friday but still only had a 5 min wait for a table on the big shady outdoor deck just feet from the lake. While not a huge menu, we easily found something to peak our interests-fried fish tacos for me and strawberry goat cheese salad with salmon for my wife. The army of 20-something servers did a good job keeping things moving and we got our food pretty quick despite the place being pretty full. The deck is a great setting with nice views and plenty of colorful umbrellas providing shelter from the strong sun on a late July day. While certainly not gourmet, the food was good quality and reasonably priced.From$239

The hotel was great and the location was excellent. It is a converted 60’s motel that has been nicely updated. The rooms aren’t fancy, but the bed and showers are good. We ended up staying an extra day and had to switch rooms, and they were the same good quality. Out room faced the lake and had a gorgeous view without even getting out of the comfy bed. Along with a nice ambiance, the location is excellent. Walking distance to marina and boat trips, grocery store and CVS across the street, as well as numerous great restaurants within walking distance. We only needed to drive to go up to Palisade (formerly Squaw), so a great place to avoid traffic stress. Area was relaxing and quiet while we were there (early June). We had s’mores at the fire pit and walked to the farmers market and brought back breakfast on the deck surveying the lake. Loved it and will return.From$139

I've stayed at the Pepper Tree Inn several times in the last decade and was always pleased with my stay. However, I was super disappointed in my stay this past weekend. First of all, we couldn't check into our room until nearly 6 p.m., after being told the room would be ready by the promised check-in time of 4 p.m. I understand they are short-staffed, and I was promised a 50% refund on my room. Upon entering the room, it was stiflingly hot and I realized the Pepper Tree doesn't have any AC. I should have checked the website, but I guess I just assumed they would have this amenity. Basically, it was super hard to sleep because it was so stuffy and warm in the room. Overall, the property seemed tired and worn-out, and the pool filled with mulch is so depressing. Very sad - this hotel is not at all what I remember. I'm hoping it's just a Covid recovery situation and that it will improve over the coming months. I'd still come back and stay there in the winter, but unless they get AC, I wouldn't recommend it for a summer visit.From$109

Visited the hotel between Sept 17-18. The location is wonderful, along with the provided amenities. Josh at the front desk helped us check in smoothly and provided excellent service during our stay. Josh went above and beyond what would normally be expected from your typical guest services and did a fantastic job accommodating our requests. Would recommend a trip out to the Granlibakken if you ever get a chance.From$189

We stopped at this waterside restaurant for lunch after some hiking. We arrived on a busy Friday but still only had a 5 min wait for a table on the big shady outdoor deck just feet from the lake. While not a huge menu, we easily found something to peak our interests-fried fish tacos for me and strawberry goat cheese salad with salmon for my wife. The army of 20-something servers did a good job keeping things moving and we got our food pretty quick despite the place being pretty full. The deck is a great setting with nice views and plenty of colorful umbrellas providing shelter from the strong sun on a late July day. While certainly not gourmet, the food was good quality and reasonably priced.From$239

The hotel was great and the location was excellent. It is a converted 60’s motel that has been nicely updated. The rooms aren’t fancy, but the bed and showers are good. We ended up staying an extra day and had to switch rooms, and they were the same good quality. Out room faced the lake and had a gorgeous view without even getting out of the comfy bed. Along with a nice ambiance, the location is excellent. Walking distance to marina and boat trips, grocery store and CVS across the street, as well as numerous great restaurants within walking distance. We only needed to drive to go up to Palisade (formerly Squaw), so a great place to avoid traffic stress. Area was relaxing and quiet while we were there (early June). We had s’mores at the fire pit and walked to the farmers market and brought back breakfast on the deck surveying the lake. Loved it and will return.From$139
