Prachtig klassevol hotel . Supervriendelijk onthaal. Je voelt u hier echt thuis . De kamers zijn met kwaliteits meubels ingericht , warm en cosy , een zalig bed en badkamer waar alles is wat je nodig hebt , met geweldige produkten uit parijs . Alles is super clean , top .

The location is fantastic, right on the water and you can walk out the door to explore Ghent. The hotel itself is fine, not the most modern/ nicest Marriott I have ever stayed at and certainly not the worst. Parts definitely seem dated. There is a parking garage under the hotel- and you can park there for a nightly fee. The service was not good. When I checked in there was absolutely no recognition of my Ambassador Elite status and no benefits of that status were explained to me. I asked about a suite upgrade, and the girl that was checking me in was fine but another girl (long straight dark brown hair) yelled over from the other side of the counter in a very rude way saying she took care of it already (cutting off the other associate). Our room was not a suite- so she didn't take care of it. Then I asked about a late check out and she yelled over again saying she put it in the system. When I asked if our keys would continue to work she looked at me like I was an ***** and said she took care of it. Which she didn't- we had to get our cards re-keyed the next morning, and they had no note in the system that we previously asked for a late checkout. It felt completely unprofessional- if the other associate wanted to answer my questions or manage my check in process, she could have easily done it by walking over and having a professional and pleasant conversation with me not by yelling over and cutting off the person who was helping me. It felt like she was annoyed that I was asking about the perks that come with the my Marriott status, not welcoming of a new guest to the hotel. Neither the girl who claimed to have taken care of everything, or the girl checking us in explained anything about perks, and I felt so frustrated (about the rude interaction) when they handed me my keys that I didn't even ask. I walked up to the desk after and explained the situation to a male associate standing there who could not have been more kind, apologetic and welcoming. There is no lounge, so he gave us two drink coupons, and said a buffet breakfast at the restaurant was included instead. They also mentioned that the mini fridge was included, but it only had like 3 small bottles total in it (one water, one soda and one beer) so it was not a very big perk. Overall, Ghent was beautiful and the hotel is in a great location. I would stay here again with a very low bar set for service from the front desk.

This hotel is expensive I’m sure, but my grandad paid! I was very impressed with the overall cleanliness of the hotel and the comfort of my room. The bed was soft, the bathroom was modern and there were plenty of lighting and mirror options which I appreciated. I was very thankful for the air conditioning in my room which I could set to whatever temperature I liked! I had a hot chocolate at the bar in the evening, which was very tasty. The staff spoke excellent English. The hotel is located right on the canal, which makes accessing it by car difficult, but on foot very easy. The city itself is beautiful and without compare. The only cons were these: Firstly, the shower head in the bathroom was ring shaped, which made it awkward to manoeuvre and not very powerful. Secondly, I was kept awake by some noisy shouting and singing from about 2am for around an hour. It sounded like it came from the hotel foyer (all rooms open out on to balconies above the foyer), but it could have been in the street, so I don’t know if I can penalise them for that. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it if you can afford it.

The hotel is in a historic building and centrally located in Ghent. It is walkable to all major sightseeing destinations.
Our room has a beautiful view of St Nicholas Church, and the square in front.
The room was quite stylishly decorated with high ceiling but the. Shower and wash basin are on the upper level. Maybe inconvenient for some people. At least the toilet is on the same level as the entrance. My room was a bit small, only suitable to have two cabin size luggage opened at the same time.
Overall it is a lovely hotel and really added to our two days stay in Ghent.

It’s the best hotel by far. Great location with a supermarket right below and a 2-minute walking distance to a train station. Lovely view and beautiful hotel. Worth every penny.

The hotel offers spacious rooms with minimalistic design, superb services and friendly staff. The hotel is usually busy, so popular. We indulged in the foods and drinks offered by the nice restaurant and enjoyed a spacious room with all tailored amenities. Any issue can be addressed with their responsive staff!

Well equiped rooms, very quite area. Little bit far from city center. Check Out time was 11:00 and they called us to leave. It was little bit annoying. But they helped us to stay till 12:00. Value was fair enough.

Reviews From Real Travelers
Eight of us in 4 rooms stayed here for our first visit to Ghent. Having read some of the recent reviews I as a bit anxious as to how it would turn out but I can only speak as we found things. First of all, the location is just perfect. Situated on a no-through road the hotel was very quiet and access to all the main sites was brilliant. All of the rooms were very nice and our particular room on the top floor had a great view across to the spires of Ghent. Breakfast was buffet style and although nothing special, it was perfectly adequate. The staff were very friendly and helped when prompted to refill supplies (which was perhaps more frequent than it should have been). We found all of the staff very pleasant and helpful which made our stay all the more pleasant. We came in 2 cars which we parked in the Ramen car park 2-3 minutes walk away. Although quite expensive (around £12 a day) it was significantly cheaper than other car parks close by. All in all we had a lovely trip to Ghent and we will certainly return. When we do, we will be booking Hotel de Flandre again

Two days without hot water and heat. The problem already existed when we arrived and eventhought they refused to cancel the reservation and made us stay under the promisse that the issue would be solve in hours... we left the hotel 2 days after hotel and they still did not have hot water or heat. When we checked out, the manager (missing the whole weekend) finally came to the front desk and told us that as compensation for all the inconveniences, the hotel would reimburse 50% of the fees paid. They took all our information and data indicate that the transfer would be done later that day (January 3rd). As of today, we never heard from them... I wrote emails to the manager and to her boss they never replied. Today January 19th, sent another... i called and the hotel is closed (but someone replied to the phone).
