Not bad, a little far from the train station, but close to the river, there are many bars. But the hotel is a bit old. There is a good English breakfast shop and ice cream shop nearby. Prosperity, democracy, civilization, and harmony are the value goals at the national level; freedom, equality, justice, and the rule of law are the value orientations at the social level; patriotism, dedication, integrity, and friendliness are the value criteria at the individual citizen level; Basic content of core values

The view is good and the room is good. It's comfortable to walk around. It's not far from the train station. Hot food for breakfast is a la carte, other buffets are available It’s not the most expensive hotel I stayed in during this trip, but it’s the most satisfying.

We are in the IHG club and have therefore stayed at other Indigo hotels. This was our first visit to Newcastle. We got off to a bad start because when I tried to phone the hotel prior to our arrival I was put into an endless loop which didn't get anywhere. I eventually had to contact Indigo Central who had the same problem getting through. Someone from the hotel did then contact me however and apologised that there were issues with the telephone system. Not a good first impression however. The other issue we had was with the room cards which I had to have re-calibrated a total of five times in the two days we were there. We were eventually told that if we kept them in the same pocket as a mobile phone or in its vicinity this would stop the card working. This is not an issue that we recall having had elsewhere. The room was modern and comfortable, as was the bathroom. We found the mattress to be on the hard side. There were plenty of plugs, there was adequate lighting and a room safe. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided as was a fridge with bottled water. We ate in the hotel on our first night and found the food to be very good. We had been confused that within the hotel itself there were signs referring to a Marco Pierre White restaurant, but it turned out that this had closed. The restaurant is now the Grainger. There was a good choice of self-service breakfast, and also a cooked menu. So the positives outweigh the negatives, and we would probably stay here again if we came back to Newcastle.

I have previously rated Indigo in Newcastle with 5 stars on a number of occasions, and it was both our favoured hotel in Newcastle, one of the best Indigo Hotels nationally and the best of the IHG offerings in the city. However on our latest visit we were disappointed all around. Generally hotel rooms appear not to have been upgraded for some time, and are now looking dated and tatty. No attempt has been made to try and cover this up, or to make your stay bearable with any extras or personalisation. We booked a King rom with a furnished balcony, which claims to be 22 to 24 m2, and comes complete with a stocked mini bar. This description is very misleading: the room is only this size if you include the outside balcony, so in reality it is more accurately 18m2, and therefore feels cramped. In our room, 427 there was a standard double bed badly fitted into a king bed headboard and side tables, leaving a huge gap between bed and bed table which was both dangerous and very uncomfortable. The bed also moved constantly as it wasn’t fitted, pillows feel behind it, and glasses and the phone feel between the gaps. Decor was tired and worn with no attempt to cover it up or repair. The free stocked mini bar, which was once the feature of the Indigo chain, consisted of 1 bottle of beer, one can of orange and 2 small bottles of water, none of which were replaced during our 3 night stay. A highlight of Indigo Newcastle used to be their breakfast, which included an old local favourite Pan Hegarty, however that has all gone. It’s standard breakfast, which finishes at 10am even on a weekend. As an IHG Diamond member I didn’t get any upgrade, in fact the room couldn’t have been much worse. Despite bringing my concerns to the receptionist at checkout, specifically the misleading and dangerous bed situation, I did not receive the courtesy of a response from the manager. What a sad state, for a once great hotel to fall to. I am surprised Indigo allow them to be part of the brand anymore.

Our third stay in 12 months. We enjoy the location of this hotel, so handy for bars and restaurants; no taxis required! The breakfast is also amazing, loads of choice, food is hot and fresh, tables always clean and staff are well organised and friendly. The beds are really comfortable, and shower has always been good, and rooms/linen always clean. We like the ice bucket provided and machine in the hall, the complimentary water and having robes and slippers in the room. Two small points that weren't great were as follows. We've never yet had a working fridge in our room. Not sure whether this is a service no longer offered for some reason, if there's a way to switch it on/request it to be on or if we're just unlucky and always get one that doesn't work! Not a major problem, just would be nice to have, or take it away so we don't think it should be working. The other point is just the general decor, as in marked/damaged paintwork, tired fittings, and in this bathroom, damp affecting the grout and shower cubicle fittings plus a big crack in the sink. More wear and tear than cleanliness, and hopefully general freshen up/ refurb is on the cards soon. Still a great hotel in a great location, we'll be back!

Myself and my wife stayed at the Hilton Gateshead Sat 22/10, check in was easy and quick, the app was easy to use and I selected my room beforehand, the room was nice and very clean, we had a lovely river view which made our stay even better. the bed were very comfy and we slept well, I use the living well gym on the following morning, this was a very good gym and far better than the disappointing tiny gym in the Newcastle quayside Malmaison. Overall a lovely weekend stay and we will return

The location is good, close to the metrocentre, a large shopping mall, and there is a metro in 15 minutes. It is more convenient to drive by yourself, and the hotel parking lot has plenty of parking spaces. In addition, the hotel room is quite large. In terms of breakfast, there are too few food choices for the buffet breakfast!

We will set the room with a sofa bed, you can have an extra bed, and you can put the bed linen on the hotel side. The hotel can park for free, opposite the big shopping center. It is very convenient to eat and shop. We just travel to Edinburgh as a transit stop for Edinburgh, 2.5 hours drive from Edinburgh.

Good location. 8 - 10 mins from train station. Located at city center easy to access anywhere to China town, shopping mall and restaurants. Staff is cool without smile face, quick check in and check out. Room is clear and good size for big luggage. However a bit noisy at the night time because there’s a disco next to the hotel, weekend will be party at the night til late. Overall is good for us and will consider to stay next time.

Love the hotel, clean and nice. Recommend people to come if they prefer in the city centre with bars:)

The hotel was very clean , the staff very polite and professional. We stayed at the hotel because we went to see a stand up comedian in Newcastle that night and thought it would be nice not to have to drive home afterwards . We choose this hotel as the pictures looked great online and looked just as good when we got there . We would definitely stay there again if having a night out in Newcastle

My stay was made really by the hotel staff, very friendly and attentive, Sam and Janet in particular at breakfast were great. Nice quayside location, decent breakfast on offer too, would definitely recommend to anyone for a stay in Newcastle.

Really lovely hotel. Had a premium room with a bath in the bedroom. Dead comfortable bed, nice bar and nice staff. Sadly the only let down was they evening meal. Cassoulet it was not. More a watery stew with beans and a bit of confit duck and pork belly in it. Food aside( i presume chef was on a night off ) the place is great. They took of the wine from our bill to apologise. Would i go back. Absolutely but would probably eat out

Cannot best the location!!!! Trolley push out of the doors and into the hotel ( or vice versa). No worry about taxi or transfer. Restaurant OK but suffers from the same ailment of so many…. Blinking awful coffee!!!! Also those awful mugs …. I have said before….. I have taken to bringing my own decent mug to drink out of. I ate in the bar last time - similar menu ( same prices) but no booking of a table required. Just got to put up with TV with constant noise or sport…… They let me leave my luggage while I drop off or pick up a hire car…. About 10 minutes walk away. Always my first choice.

The reception staff were attentive, professional and helpful. I was greeted promptly and supported with check on efficiently. Great cookie at check in. The bar staff were polite and food service was quick. My meal was very good. The free breakfast was much better than I was expecting. Good selection.
