Tulum Weather Conditions - Why Air-Conditioned Hotels Matter

Tulum is hot. Summer highs often top 30°C, and humidity can be brutal. Rain comes often, especially in wet season, making everything muggy. Good temperature control in your room is a must.

AC cools and pulls out moisture, so your room stays dry even during downpours. It helps you sleep better, which matters when you’re jet‑lagged. For anyone sensitive to damp, it’s a steady comfort no matter the weather.

We’ve chosen Tulum hotels with solid AC in great spots: near the beach, the ruins, Tulum Pueblo, and the strip. After a day out, you can return to a cool room and recharge for tomorrow.

FAQs about Tulum hotels with AC

  • Why should I choose a hotel with air conditioning in Tulum?

Tulum is hot and humid year‑round. Air conditioning keeps your room dry, stops mould and musty smells, and helps you sleep through the tropical nights. It also keeps mosquitoes out because you can close the windows. Definitely worth it.

  • Which months have the hottest weather in Tulum?

Tulum’s hottest months are May through September, with highs often above 32°C. Humidity peaks too. A hotel with air conditioning becomes essential during this period, especially for good sleep and avoiding sticky rooms.

  • Are air-conditioned hotels more expensive in Tulum?

Not always. Some budget places have AC for a daily fee. Others include it in the room rate. Compare total costs. During peak heat, spending more on AC usually pays off.

  • What's the best neighbourhood for hotels with air conditioning in Tulum?

The hotel zone along the beach road has the most AC‑equipped options, especially newer resorts. But they’re pricey. For better value, look in Tulum Pueblo or Aldea Zama, where many modern boutique hotels include reliable AC.

  • How do I know if a hotel's air conditioning is good quality?

Check recent guest reviews for words like “cools well” or “quiet”. Also ask if the AC runs on solar power or has limited hours. Some eco‑hotels switch it off at night, so confirm that before booking.

I started out in my younger days staying at 3 star hotels working myself up to 5 star hotels these days. On this recent weekend trip i held back on my post xmas spending and got a great deal at Kore so I took a chance on it despite all the negative reviews. I think the 1 out 5 star ratings are ridiculously unfair. Rooms were big, clean, and comfy. Location was decent and had great views of the sea. I only had breakfast as I like to get out and explore, so I couldn't tell you much about the quality of food. The waiters were good, as soon as I sat down, my coffee was poured. After they recognized I tip, I never had to wait in line to get my omelets...lol. best part was the service from the front desk concierge (the Mexican soap opera looking guy) Victor. Dude was always so nice and helpful. Upon checkout, I had a late flight out, he knew that I love bike riding, so he let me keep my bracelet to have access until my shuttle arrived. I did not experience most of the issues on these reviews. English speaking staff was a challenge, but i found that was an issue everwhere I was in Tulum. Overall, if you were to go by the strict AAA guidelines, this hotel would probably recieve a 3-3.5 rating and closer to a 4 by the generous booking sites. This was no Hyatt, but a good value. Dont let those 1 star ratings discourage you. My rating does not include the quality of food...

The most cost-effective hotel in the Tulum Beach area, with a beautiful cliff sea view, welcome drink, and you can book a sea view for dinner, the view is beautiful… The hotel can't go directly to the sea, so the price is relatively beautiful, and it's not far away if you want to go to the sea. There is a white sand beach next door after a five-minute walk. The room is big, and hot tea is delivered every day. The service is very good, especially the price is half of that of many hotels in the beach area next door. It's perfect!

Beautiful hotel!! Spent an amazing week in a villa with my husband and we will never forget it. Our room was leaking a bit with the rain. Overall a wonderful experience. The museum was beautiful and the other location was well worth the drive to visit if you have a car.

Family of four (including 2 teens) stayed at the Conrad in room 3307 for one week. We had an ocean-view, 2 Queen room and opted for the Ceiba Club. The room was one of the better-sized and laid-out rooms we have enjoyed on vacation. The facilities were fantastic and we enjoyed the activities offered throughout our time here. The gym was never busy and the daily activities we found to be accessible. The bay in front offered very good snorkeling with several large reefs that held many schools of interesting fish. We also saw rays of various sizes out there too, which was exciting. Beach chairs were always available, which was a surprise, as we read that it could be problematic. Food and drink at the Ceiba Club were worth the extra cost. We lived out that the first several days that the resort wasn't busy, so Ceiba offered à la carte food from the restaurants. We also benefited from Hilton Gold status, so we were able to rotate two of our family through the amazing breakfast buffet at Arbolea. We had dinners at Marakea (Mediterranean) and Autor (Michelin Mexican restaurant). Both were good, but Autor stood out. Would return for sure.

The all-encompassing deciding factor is the number of restaurants, but here, in addition to various restaurants in Mexico, Italy, sushi, France, teppanyaki, buffet style, there are ice creams and smoothies, cafes, etc. I like it every day! !! There are a few souvenir shops, they are very good! The good thing is the evening event, where the souvenir stall opens from the square on the spot. It is nice to see something other than the souvenir shop without going out. Most importantly, the tequila store and the artists attracted on the spot are great! The resort also holds many activities every day. I am looking forward to participating in cooking classes, sports, etc.!

The room design is very high-end, and it feels like a renovated hotel. The swimming pool is beautiful and deep, making it more suitable for adults to swim and play. The corridors of the hotel are relatively old, and there is no elevator up and down. If you have large and heavy luggage, it will be a bit difficult. You can ask the hotel to provide a hotel on the underground floor, which will be more convenient. In addition, it is a little noisy at night because it is close to the bar, but I can still accept it. Overall, a good place for a good price.

Hotel Muare is one of the more popular hotels in the Tulum area. It is a perfect getaway if you want to have a quiet time from the hustle-and-bustle of the city to recharge. The rooms are designed to look like houses in the remote places but with all the modern amenities. It also is a great option for someone who cares about staying at an Instagrammable hotel/resort. There is one restaurant which provides good food. Negatives: -Getting to the hotel will require you to drive through really broken dirt road with several pits. -While the food options are good, if you’re someone with a dietary restrictions - e.g., vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, don’t eat red meat or raw fish, etc. you may run out of options quickly. The staff is flexible though, so they may customize few dishes for your suiting. -In general Tulum is expensive. However, Muare is up a notch. While it was a great place to stay, the price didn’t seem justifiable to me. Specially, since I don’t care as much about capturing Instagrammable photos. -While the staffs are helpful and friendly, their extreme focus on getting money out of you is just off putting. Examples: we planned to have food by the pool and it took them forever to get us the food. They missed certain items in the order. We also had issues with our food (fly in maple syrup) which was still fine (since bugs/insects can fall in your food when you live in the nature). However, when we reported and asked for a replacement, they never returned with the fresh maple syrup. Finally, I had to go to the restaurant and pick it up myself. However, when it came to asking you to pay, they would run behind you to get your sign. On top of that, there is a default tip amount included in the bill which some of them may not even care to mention to you. While checking out as well, they added a hefty service charge to the bill - this on top of the already expensive booking fee. Overall, my review is that it is a good place to stay. However, too expensive and the cost is not really justifiable. Plus for the good service they provide, it is really off putting when you see how focused they’re on getting more money out of you in any way possible.

The king bedroom we booked was a huge room. The bed as many other in the reviews point out was a bit hard but nothing to uncomfortable. We didn't use the air conditioner. Bathrooms were clean and the water pressure was good. They didn't want us to put the toilet paper in the bowel but in the trash, which was fine with us. Front desk people were helpful.

Our stay at Tago Tulum was simply outstanding! The hotel itself is a paradise – the rooms look even better than in the photos, with spacious layouts, beautiful decor, and that perfect blend of luxury and Tulum’s bohemian style. The beachfront view and peaceful ambiance made it the ideal place to unwind. What really made our experience unforgettable was the exceptional service, especially from Victor. He took care of everything we needed, going above and beyond to ensure our stay was seamless and enjoyable. Victor’s warmth and attention to detail made us feel right at home – a true gem!

Hotel location in the hotel area of Tulum, there is a restaurant by the sea, you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner with the sea breeze, the hotel service is very good, the staff will speak fluent English, the communication is super smooth, including the front desk and restaurant waiter service attitude is very good, Of course, the service fee of 15% is mandatory for hotel consumption, all of which are included in the bill. The hotel communicates with customers with whatapp. Any time there is any problem, the hotel staff will reply as soon as possible. This is quite comfortable. The hotel is relatively small, the facilities are just like the general, but you can recommend staying and enjoying the holiday house by the sea. The hotel is very close to Ahu Hotel, 5 minutes by bicycle, you can see Tulum's famous Sculpture Mother Nature , There is also a Starbucks next to it.

Our 6th trip to the Cancun area, first stay here - wonderful experience. Wonderful, attentive staff. Beautiful beach and reef. Snorkeling was good - beautiful fish, coral regrowing in the outer reefs. Food quality was better than hoped for - lunch seems to be the best option with dinner being a close 2nd. Appreciated the attention to the Turtles laying and hatching- had a specialist come in nightly to protect and clearly mark areas to keep them safe. Dive shop was great - needed a pair of socks to keep fins from rubbing blisters - they ordered them overnight for me. Restaurant staff are lovely. Room attendants are great - loved the towel art!!
