What a little gem of a place right beside the River Avon on the outskirts of Bath. A beautiful old house next to the stand up paddle board club. We had a delicious dinner - with free bottle of house white - before sitting out on the terrace overlooking the water. The bedrooms were delightful - all different to each other and not feeling like a hotel more like someone’s lovely home. very comfy and welcoming

We had such a lovely stay here. Us and two kids stayed in a beautiful bedroom with a great balcony. Such a pleasure to wake up and have tea whilst watching the row boats go past. Great breakfast and convenient for the park and ride so you can have a drink in town and not worry about driving. Sarah was particularly helpful with recommendations. Nothing was too much trouble definitely recommend. 🙂

Arrived and parked, (struggled over a massive speed hump) Was shown to our room by a nice young lad who was very pleasant. On a first scan of the room we noticed a very dirty carpet which had not been vacuumed for quite a while. Toe nail clippings, plastic clothes tags, hair, fluff and general very obvious dirt. Seat by window was stained with general dirt build up. Bathroom had a pile of dust,*****, hair etc around the skirting and a traffic dirt build up on the tiles floor in the centre, along with mould and scum on tiles and sink. Stains on curtains and cobwebs and dirt everywhere. Also greeted with someone's skid mark in the toilet I reported the dirt and they promised to go up and clean while we were at dinner. In their defence they did a quick vac and wipe in Bathroom but was still not up to any standard for a hotel room, let alone a £160 per night room Bed was ok and view of river nice, viewing the river was unfortunately ruined by the stinking smoking area for the pub directly underneath. The room doors and the fire doors in the corridor slammed very loudly everytime other guests past through and I got woken quite a few times. Water bottle by bed was filthy with sediment and top didn't seal. Tea cups dirty like they had just been swilled in tje Bathroom sink and kettle filthy with limescale Can't comment on breakfast as I didn't want to risk dirty practices with my food too, so skipped that even though I'd paid for it Staff were disinterested and offered a small £60 room reduction but it still wasn't of 100 quid quality. Shame really as it could be lovely If management would like to contact for apology and we stayed in room 2 on 9thto 10th feb See pics for filth

We hoped for a luxury weekend for our wedding anniversary. It cost plenty, but didn't live up to expectations. There was only a bedside table and lamp on one side of the bed - what was the other person supposed to do? There was a wardrobe, but no shelves or drawers, so nowhere to unpack underwear/teeshirts/jumpers etc. The bathroom was primitive - very poor lighting so impossible to shave/put on makeup. One tiny shelf over the basin, which only had room for two toothbrushes. Where do you put the rest of your toiletries? On the floor? Thanks a lot! And instead of a proper shower there was an old free-standing bath with a hand-held shower attachment. The shower curtains were too short, so our first attempt at showering had the entire bathroom flooded. The chambermaid said this was a regular occurrance. After that I showered kneeling down in the bath and bent right over to try to keep the water contained - not exactly the pinnacle of luxury, is it? Downstairs we had a reasonable breakfast the first day, but the second day we waited 25 minutes to be served, and then they brought the wrong dishes. Dinner on the Saturday night was adequate, but not wonderful. What a pity they have spent so much money on the decor and not nearly enough on actually making people comfortable. It was all show and no substance.

The bedroom was very dated. The bathroom had a very stained zinc bath and a hand held shower. Impossible to take a proper shower. The curtains did not fit so the water went everywhere. No shelves to put toiletries on. Lighting poor. Bedroom very dark. Low wattage bulbs and only 1 bedside light. Impossible to read in room. No drawers for clothes. Very poor value for £180 a night! Dinner food very poor. On the plus side - all of the staff were very pleasant.

We had pre booked a table for 2pm, arrived a little early at about 1:35. Promptly seated and told we would have to go to the bar to order. Weirdly, the large rable near us had someone come and take their order. When I went to order they were out of one od the mains we wanted so had to change that. Our shared starter arrived after about 40 minutes - baked camambert which was very nice. We then waited another 30 minutes and still no one had taken the starter dishes away. At this point we decided to leave as we had other places to be. I went to the bar and the staff member apologised repeatedly and wouldn't take payment for the starter and said it was on them due to the poor service - she didn't have to so this as I eas quite prepared to pay for what we had eaten, but she insisted which redeemed our experience some what. We weren't the only ones with an issue, the large table next to us waited over an hour and a half for the mains they ordered (they didn't have starters) - they complained repeatedly and the server apologised repeatedly but they literally had to stuff the food down as quick as they could as they had a train to catch. Not sure what had gone wrong but not a good experience.

Went for lunch just before Christmas and ordered roast turkey, expecting a freshly cooked festive meal. What arrived was pre-prepared, probably frozen vegetables, sprouts the size of peas, rock hard Yorkshire pudding, small amount of gravy. Very disappointing and not cheap at £18. A good chef is needed to prepare decent food. I've given two stars because the waitress was friendly.

A disappointing meal. Had the roast beef. Roast potatoes were hard the Yorkshire pudding leathery. Meal was luke warm. I asked for English mustard and was presented with an empty jar. Waiter came back with French mustard. 2 of our party asked for more gravy it never appeared! Certainly not value for money. Had we been on our own I’d have sent it back. But didn’t want to create a fuss when we hadn’t seen our friends for several months
