When I arrived at the Mariners, after a very long 5 hours train from London to Falmouth, Cornwall, the hotel's door was closed :=( I couldn't call the phone number written on the door because I had no wi-fi connection in my mobile phone. A nice person saw how disappointed I am, and he kindly called the hotel staff and they opened the door. There's no elevator at the Mariners but merely a staircase. The room facing the back of the hotel is spacious but it views an unappealing backyard (not a fascinating garden). The water stream was too weak. The hot water wasn't hot enough. The seagulls woke me up at 4.30 am and even at 2.30 pm(!). The room wasn't clean at the day after my arrival, and even in the day after (see "the managers'" letter) although the small trash can was overload and the toilet had to be cleaned. Devastating. Only a day before my checking out, the room was thankfully cleaned and the bed was made (I thanked the staff for it) and this miracle apparently happened after I spoke to Kai, one of the staff members; she promised me to make sure that the room will be cleaned and said, "If you were telling me about it before, I was making sure it will be cleaned" but I didn't see her before but only met her two coworkers, Jason and Luigiana). All "the manager" agreed to do, according to Luigiana, is "to refund your breakfasts, you can talk to him" (I didn't wish to bargain with him) as the "continental breakfast" hardly included any vegan options (bread and marmalade are definitely not enough for a hungry vegan, sorry, and even the added vegan butter added, in my last day at the Mariners, was not enough, sorry). I didn't get any refund despite the horrible experience I had at the Mariners hotel that included about 2-3 days of unemptied trash can, uncleaned toilet, and unmade bed. I didn't get a full refund although I believed and I still believe it is the least this hotel should do, in this case). I'll never stay at the Mariners again, and my only advice to my colleagues is to look for another, better hotel (perhaps the adjacent Grove Hotel?).
