This hotel is conveniently located near Kyoto Station, about a 500-meter walk. It has many rooms and great facilities, especially the spacious common areas perfect for chatting and dining with friends. If you enjoy meeting new people, I highly recommend this place as guests come from all over the world. I stayed here for four days during Kyoto's Gion Matsuri, which was bustling every day. Even though I was exhausted from sightseeing, it was always relaxing to return to the hotel and chat with friends.

The room was clean and tidy, and the bathroom had a separate wet and dry area. The common areas were also very cozy. However, the room itself was quite small, making it difficult to open luggage, and there were no chairs, which I had to request from the front desk. I definitely wouldn't recommend the bunk beds for two people; the ladder for the top bunk was almost vertical, making it incredibly hard to climb, especially when getting down.

The front desk staff spoke English, so daily communication was smooth. Check-in involved filling out a form on my phone, which was a minor inconvenience, but check-out was quick, and luggage storage was available. The front desk sold toiletries like toothbrushes and toothpaste, as well as bottled water. There were also washing machines and dryers.

The location was good, close to the shopping street and bus stops, but quite a distance from the subway! Plus, dragging luggage on the ground in Kyoto can be quite a struggle, and I was pretty tired from doing so.

I originally went there because of the wall of books.
But I didn't expect the self-service kitchen to be an even bigger plus. I bought salmon from the supermarket below Yodobashi and sliced it myself in the kitchen. I got a salad from the convenience store, went back, and plated it myself – it was really good.
The self-service laundry was also convenient, just remember to set the dryer to a higher temperature. I used the default medium heat for ten minutes and it wasn't completely dry, so I had to spend another 100 yen to run it again.
There's a chain restaurant right next door, which is very convenient.
I'd definitely consider staying here again next time.

This was the best hotel I've ever stayed at.

Everything, from the service upon arrival to the room's decor and the facilities, was impeccable.

I especially loved the record player in the room and the complimentary drinks and snacks in the lounge.

I'm so glad I chose this hotel! I would love to stay here again.

Had a great time at 22 Pieces. Staff were friendly and helpful. Basically all were good. Room is spacious and taps, basin etc are clean and look new (no water or rust stains). Water pressure for bath is good. Always enjoy a good bath after a long tiring day. Love the table in the room - great size and sturdy. Hope to have one in my house. We spent every morning, enjoying our breakfast with the coffee/tea (free at counter) and some breads. A great kick start of the day.
Reason for giving a 4 to location is that there are many other hotels near or at Kyoto station though I am doubtful any of the hotels can beat the room size at 22 Pieces. Abit challenging to find the entrance.
As for the facilities, would be great to have washing machine and dryer within the building. However, there is a coin operated washing machine and dryer round the corner if you don't mind carrying your laundry to/fro.
Appreciated all the help and efforts from the staff. Thank you so much for making my trip at Kyoto a memorable and enjoyable one. Definitely will be back when I am at Kyoto.

📍Location
It's not right in front of Kyoto Station, but it's about a 6-7 minute walk. If you use the bus a lot for sightseeing, you can get off at Karasumananajo bus stop and walk to the accommodation in 2-3 minutes. There's a Family Mart and Lawson nearby, and Kyoto Yodobashi Camera is a 5 minute walk away, which was nice.

📍Cleanliness and service
When checking in, an English-speaking staff member explained everything in detail. My companion smoked, and there were no separate smoking facilities, but they lent me a small portable ashtray and told me I could smoke outside. There was a washing machine and dryer on the first floor, and they explained it to me when I checked in, and the rental service for necessary items was good. I only stayed for one night, so I didn't rent anything, but I could rent an air wrap, and there was an LP player inside the accommodation, so I could rent LPs in front of the front desk.

📍Facilities
The facility itself was very clean and spacious. It had cooking facilities and a stove for a fire. There were also two sinks, so it was convenient for many people to use. The hair dryer in the bathroom was Dyson, which was really nice. By the way, this was a password, not a card key. You just had to press the room number and the password they gave you, but I think they made the password the last four digits of your phone number for convenience. It was a double bunk bed, and all four beds were so wide that two people could share one bed. There was a charging port next to every bed.

We were travelling as a family of 5 and found their family room really useful and it was spacious by japanese standard eg. Having double sink helps and a hang out area for everyone inside the room. Would recommend family to consider this hotel as location is also perfect. Bed and shower are comfortable too.
