When i arrived I was asked to sign a document which stated the valuables should not be left in the room and brought to reception. They also state that if you go out, you leave the key with them, it all felt very unsettling for me and 9 year old daughter. When we walked up the stairs, due to the lift being very old and frightening, and not working correctly, the cleanliness of this hotel was attrocious. All of the carpets were dirty and coming away from the floor, the windows were smashed, it was awful!! When i got into the room, it was a tiny bedroom, not the one of the picture they used at booking and they had stapled the bed sheet to the bed to keep it on the base! Staples!! the place smelt, it was incredibly dirty!! Rusty bin in the bathroom, plug sockets of, you name it there was something wrong with it! The whole place felt very unsafe! We had a booking at the i360 in Brighton so had to go back out, when we went to leave, the door would not lock!! As i was spinning the key, the door was not responding. When i went down to speak with the receptionist he was incredibly rude and patronising towards me, telling me that i did not know how to use a door and that it needed locking from the inside. I explained that i was not happy with this as we would have to leave the door unlocked and that I felt there was a security problem with the hotel. he was very argumentative and did nothing to reassure me about the security of the hotel or the room because lets face it a door that doesnt lock! there is an issue there. I took the keys back to the reception after the i360 and we had to stay at a different hotel in Brighton, we stayed at the travelodge which was obviously an additional cost which i could have done without! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!
