What a nice bed and breakfast, located across the road from the Pavilion Gardens and a 10 minute stroll to the Opera House. Check in was easy, the room was clean and warm. For breakfast you could book a time slot, what you wanted to eat and it was all very organised. The owners and all the staff who we met; were fantastic, welcoming, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.

When we arrived we were greeted by Sam who was lovely and could not do more for us, however that’s where it stopped being nice, we changed rooms as the shower was broken and were moved to another room which was ok only to discover that the shower was also broken and we had minimal hot water with absolutely no pressure and the heating in the room hardly worked so my husband went to see the Manager who came to the room and was extremely rude saying well if you don’t like it find somewhere else to stay (at 7pm) and that he didn’t need this, he was really unprofessional and made our stay awful and it’s safe to say we definitely will not return, the rooms are very tired with damp and mouldy window frames and very old furniture.

Lovely cosy little hotel. Large room with very comfortable bed. Fabulous breakfast, with well-run choice of time slots to pre-book, so that your cooked breakfast always comes hot and freshly cooked. Small bar open in the evenings, with a wonderful old style tv lounge to sit in and chat with other guests. The staff are friendly and the manager was extremely helpful and fair when we had to go home a day early. This lovely, proper old-fashioned hotel would be no good for anyone who likes modern, Premier Inn-type places, but it was perfect for us - we loved it!

The day before we where due to stay , the manager called me and explained that the room we normally have had but the hotel had no hot water or heating so he would have to move us , we didn’t mind , the room we were given he had put electric heaters in it had a power shower so all good , the breakfast the next morning was as always superb, local produce cooked really well , even with the change in rooms it’s still one of the best places to stay in buxton

Came here over the weekend and had a good stay. Its situated in a great location, especially for walkers to get out and about into the rest of the peak district. The gentleman on reception was helpful and offered us a choice of breakfast and time slots to help both us and his team in the morning. The pros to the B&B were the price and good value for money. The beds were comfortable and we both slept well although I did have earplugs because of the thin walls and hearing the TV of next doors room. The breakfast was good and included in the price which is rare. Good WiFi too for planning routes the next day. There was also plenty of hot water for us both in the morning and soap is provided along with towels. The cons of the stay were the thin walls so could hear a lot of noises going on throughout the floor we were staying on. The shower needs a bit more power behind it as doesn't get you feeling warm warm before you get out. The breakfast could do with some beans or to are juice as was quite dry although still filling. And the room we was in did feel a little tired with carpet cuttings on the floor and a updo needed in the bathroom etc. But all in all for a night or two I'd recommend for sure. It's perfect and great value for what you get and I'd certainly come back for another weekend. However, for any longer I'd certainly look elsewhere just because of the cons in my review. Overall great for a night or two though.

Me and the hubby stayed for 1 night as a birthday celebration. The location is fantastic as buxton town centre is only a short walk plus most things to do are also a short walk. When we arrived straight away we were impressed with the staff. Fantastic customer service. The room was OK. It just looked old and tired. I know they are currently renovating so I think we were in one the rooms still yet to be decorated. Saying that we had a lovely stay. Hot water, comfy beds, helpful staff and good breakfast. Word of warning though. At night cars and lorries go past very fast and loud so I would suggest ear plugs. Would I stay here again? In a heartbeat. Just don't stay here if you're very picky. Luckily I'm easily pleased 😄

Depressing dark bedroom. Blood stained bedding. Rotten mouldy windows. Filthy skirting boards. We took the duvet out and slept in the torn cover. Carpet stained. Old worn and scratched furniture. I didn’t know places like this existed and shouldn’t be let out to the public, doesn’t anyone check these rooms . Decor was old and tatty. We stayed in Room 20 and it should be condemned.

A bit out dated but beds were very comfy . Breakfast average . Although claimed to be dog friendly they didn’t welcome dogs . Staff very friendly . Manager very miserable and also lied about things .Parking not very good . Lovely park opposite for the dogs
