Amazing view from the terrace on both Table Mountain and Lionshead, as well as looking at over the city center. We stayed in Onder Dorp which has a lot of nice little chilling area's and pools. Restaurant area is fantastic and has great boutique vibes. Personnel everywhere very friendly and helpful. Rooms cosy and clean. Had a great stay. Thank you, Salome & Thomas

Dorp is exceptional in every single way. It’s difficult to convey the atmosphere and welcome, but akin to visiting friends. I have never stayed somewhere so relaxed and felt so at ease. The hotel itself is stunning even better than the photographs (if that is possible !). The gardens and terraces provide breathtaking views over Cape Town and Table Mountain. Our room was magnificent, the bed was enormous and soooo comfortable. Early morning coffee on our private terrace gazing at Table Mountain was a highlight of the holiday. Breakfast was faultless. We would like to thank everyone at Dorp for such a wonderful stay and we will be back!

The Dorp is fabulous, superb views, superb location, endearing staff and has bags of character.  We absolutely loved our time here and we're not impacted by the regular power load shedding that is a feature of Cape Town life.  The staff (Lucy, Alief, Hussein, Tumi, Frank that I can remember) were lovely, warm, professional and conscious; the service, at all times, was on the money. The supposed continental breakfast was one of the best we've had, it had something for everyone's taste and filled us up for day. Top draw. As a result, we didn't need lunch and for someone who loves his food, that's unusual.  The evening food was equally good with attentive service with stunning views in a lounge that just makes the heart soar.  The private lounge in Arcadia was lovely, just chilling with a G&T (provided free) in front of a wood burner was a joy. I could go on and even the lack of alcohol (you can bring your own) did not lessen our experience.   We loved it here, will be back and are evangelical to friends about it.

If anyone is thinking of coming to Cape Town & looking for a place to stay , or even if you live in Cape Town & looking to treat yourself , I highly recommend this little Hotel in the Bo Kap. Dorp Hotel . It’s eclectic, full of character . The service is outstanding & beautifully decorated . The rooms are spacious & magnificent views of the City & Table mountain . The menu & dinner is simple , but food is delicious. I highly recommend the roast chicken . Breakfast buffet to die for,you must try the Shakshuka . Honestly a hidden little gem . The bed linen is beautiful & lovely large Bath sheets. They make excellent cocktails & staff are very attentive . We only booked for 1 night but needed more time to take in the beauty of the hotel & gardens .Book a room with a view. , but even the garden rooms looked lovely .

Het Dorp is amazing with it’s interior, location and views. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Can’t explain it, but the staff works so well together they understand what the people need staying at their hotel. But it’s not formal at all. I would definitely recommend Dorp if you are staying in Cape Town.

Leaving Dorp Hotel with mixed feelings… Location, atmosphere and decor 10/10 But I agree with other reviewers on the treatment/hierarchy of guests. I cannot reiterate the friendliness and helpfulness of staff and any uncomfortable moments are clearly due to instructions from above. The moment I stepped into the lounge area taking a pic (with no other guests in view) I was pounced on by a waiter telling me no photographs. This was while my husband was checking us in! Clearly I expressed my annoyance as I have seen MANY Dorp hotel guests’ photos on instagram. Another staff member came to apologise. I tried to ignore the incident and make the best of my time in such a beautiful setting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and dinner was delicious … after dinner we meandered to the outside patio /casual eating section and a lovely fire was burning in fireplace. We decided to sit for a few moments. There was 1 other couple (foreign) sitting at a far outside table. The husband stood up and spoke to waiter who came over asking us to leave as the other guests have asked to sit there. To avoid any embarrassment we left. There is a DEFINITE difference in treatment between local South African guests and foreigners without a doubt … this is uncomfortable and disappointing. We stay at many exclusive establishments as local residents and this is a 1st. The constant ‘little reminders’ on how you should behave in the establishment is far too Colonial and not sure of its place in the current South Africa .. or does the owner discriminate against the patrons whose money she takes?

Welcome to the old day in the heart of Cape Town. Asked for my vaccination card when checking in. Nothing outwardly displayed when booking online. Super small print clause at the bottom of the booking page. You will be on the wrong side of history and remembered for this. Virtue signaling at its finest. Disgusting.

The setting, atmosphere and general appointment of the Dorp is second to none. We were excited to stay, as when we arrived it did feel like ‘a home from home’ as a few reviews had remarked. We could not fault the staff, the quality of the rooms, the style, location and the breakfasts. However, at times it felt like we were intruding on other guests stay, there were many guests that knew each other and got special treatment- regulars are important to every business, however, one should not assume that a first timer will not become a regular. There was somehow a snobbery amongst the guests, of who gets to mingle with one another and who doesn’t. I can totally see that if you stay here regularly, it’s fabulous. But beware if you book into this hotel and it’s your first, and potentially only visit, as a paying customer, you can feel like you’re intruding into the other guests space who have visited many times, it was an odd feeling I’ve never had before. We have stayed in many places where there are regulars, it’s a nice thing. But here it feels like the regulars are family and it’s actually the other guests that make you feel like you somehow don’t belong. I cannot reiterate enough the professionalism and kindness of the staff but there seems to be some sort of heirachy here which is not what you look for in a hotel but perhaps expect from a private members club.

I really wanted to see this place and so booked a table for 4 for a Sunday lunch. The view was pleasant, I hadn't seen the view of my home town from that height and angle before, so that was nice. As for the rest, apart from the lady at the front desk, the service was lame, it's as if we were disturbing their quiet Sunday, so much so that the staff played pool in front of us while we dined. No manager or senior staff member came by to ask if we were enjoying our visit and a 'thanks for joining us today'. The food was average and for what it was, over priced. The veg curry was surprisingly bland considering the location in the BoKaap, the home of spicy food. I really wanted to see this establishment and was hoping to find a gem that was off the beaten track of trendy Cape Town eateries, sadly it was a huge disappointment. Maybe the actual hotel is great, but rather go back to the original idea of restaurant for hotel patrons only where one expects that kind of service/food dining at a hotel while travelling.
