I’ve been to Cuba three times now, twice at Sanctuary and once in Varadero. I cannot wait to go back to Sanctuary. The staff are so very friendly, it is safe and clean. There was plenty of food both times I went and lots of variety. As long as you are aware of the shortages and challenges Cuba faces and you have a positive attitude you will love it. The beach is beautiful, the food is good, the people are so kind and welcoming. I took condiments and snacks as these items are very limited not just at Sanctuary but in Cuba. I leave water I don’t use for the staff and their families.

First thing I am going to say is a big shout out to Dyanna Cervedaria. She was not even the butler for any of our floors or buildings (we had 7 rooms altogether). I knew Dyanna from my last visit (she was our most excellent butler last visit) and she was the only person who recognized me as a returning guest and gave me any kind of service. She arranged for us an a la carte and a special dinner for my family. She checked on us everyday that she was there working (every other day schedule). Our actual butlers were polite and friendly when or if we saw them but were not helpful at all. When asking about a la cartes we were told try tomorrow every time. I also heard there was a special dinner for returning guests from other guests but not from anyone at the hotel. I mentioned that I had been there previously both in my email and at check in. We were very disappointed in the check in process. I had written in advance two times with no response but hopes that out request was being taking care of. Travelling with my dad who can not do more than a few stairs, I had requested a main floor room for him. They checked in the first two rooms of our party into main floors (which we did not know at the time) but when they got to my dad they had none, supposedly. I was told that my only request was rooms close together. I showed my emails but was ignored. They wanted to change his room the next day and did want to comprehend that he was not able to do the stairs physically. it caused us to hold up the line and was very embarrassing for my dad. Not cool at all. Not a great way to start our vacation. It was nice to chat with the entertainment crew I remembered from my last visit, mainly Abrahan and Jordanis. I expect shortages, food, drink, even towels and such and packed accordingly. The food was ok. I always found something to enjoy. What was a bit less acceptable was the state of the public bathrooms. Toilet paper shortages, okay, I packed for that too, but to have only lobby bathrooms and pool bathrooms and both in high need of repairs. That was less acceptable. The men's bathroom in the lobby was completely closed and locked off. All genders shared the three or so of 6 working toilets in the female bathroom. The floors were often flooded and rarely any paper. The general feeling was that the management or "the company" was not taking the priority of repair seriously. As always the Cuban people are lovely and gracious, and so welcoming. The beach is stunning and we had perfect weather. We had a great outing with Nexxus Tours and the rep was very great. Highly recommend renting an exclusive half day charter for 6 people. Despite the minor inconveniences listed above and the ordeal of check in, we had a super vacation. It would have been nice to have not had to deal with the horrible check in and to have had some repair to el banos. If you go, go with the right mindset and pack some extras for comfort. The nightlife is lim

My girlfriends and I were planning a down south trip for four years and one of them suggested the Sanctuary Grand Memories as they had a wonderful experience the last time they visited. This was my first time in Cuba and it won’t be my last, the beaches are breath taking, the food is good (even tho they are struggling they make the best that they can, we also brought snacks) but the staff is exceptional, we were extremely lucky to have Carlos and Delvis as our butler in building 57, they were amazing, friendly, informative and always there when you needed them no matter what time - i.e I locked myself in my room with a travel lock the first day and at 6:45am Carlos came to my rescue and never complained once and understood when I told him I get anxious (you were able to be yourself and not feel any judgement at all) in which he reassured me that I had nothing to worry about and that we were safe. They would even answer me when I had the smallest request. They would check in, come by to see how our day was going, booking out a la carte. Even ensuring that I watch my sunburn. Even tho this may sounds like the smallest things to me it meant a lot, they made me feel at home. I worked in retail and customer services throughout the years and they really makes your experience a memorable one which is also important. Not only are butlers amazing but also the bartenders at the pool Delvis, Armando and Gilberto make your experience memorable, always smiling, chatting, remembering your drink, taking the time to see how your day is going and in the buffet area Yanaidys would welcome us with open arms, take good care of us and smiling and Pinto to at the bar area near the buffet was amazing! I highly recommend staying at the Sanctuary Grand Memories resort when visiting Cuba, if you want to have an unforgettable trip with amazing staff that make you feel like family. This will not be my last time I visit Cuba, especially this resort, I never felt sad leaving a place before the way I was sad leaving my home away from home for the week. I left a part of my heart in Cuba and I look forward to seeing Carlos and Delvis again in the future!

We had a wonderful visit at Sanctuary. The beach is beautiful, great water. The food is actually quite good, especially if you find the right spots around the hotel. We want to give a special shout out to Leivi, Analay, Jorge, Ulysses and Inubis! Amazing people who made our stay all the more memorable. The only reason I took down one star is because they no longer do dance parties after the theatre show. If only that could be changed, our stay would have been perfect.
