The Riverside Inn

A lovely, old-fashioned pub with rooms that have been renovated with care. Ideally situated for the station and city centre. We had dinner in the pub and the food, and beer, was excellent. Comfortable bed and free WiFi. Highly recommended.

It was a good restaurant a good place to go nice food staff are fantastic harry and emma are the best and its right next to a cute river and theres free wifi i love the place would recommend it nice hotel as well nice stake nice desert all together 😁

Very nice restaurant, the staff are really helpful and they have a huge selection of drinks. The food is lovely and we will definitely be visiting again. The building looks very modern and is very close to the centre of town with a lovely view near by

We chose the Riverside Inn for its proximity to the Leisure Centre and just away from the bustle of the main shopping Centre. We were welcomed immediately and menus brought to our table. Our two grand children had tap water and unfortunately after ordering our food one managed to tip the entire contents over himself! Soaking himself, no spare clothes so I had to head off and buy replacements. Lovely member of staff (sorry I should have got your name) mopped the floor, dried the table, replaced the wet chair and held our meal until my return. Meals arrived and they were delicious. Can highly recommend the fish and chips.

Room was OK, but very expensive given no breakfast.....£95! Few grumbles about the room/hotel made to the establishment : 1/ Mould in bathroom 2/ TV poorly positioned so it could not be watched from the seating area 3/ No staff on duty 4/ Insufficient power sockets at bedside and part refund requested as we were not satisfied. Got a disinterested response and refund request rejected. Will definitely NOT be staying again and have told family/friends to avoid. Shame.....very few hotels in Chelmsford, which probably explains the pricing policy but this could be so much better!

Me and my other half came here for lunch, we both were pleasantly surprised at how lovely the decor is inside as I don’t think the exterior gives this place the credit it deserves! We sat outside in the gorgeous beer garden and both ordered wraps from the lunch menu! The service was efficient and nothing was too much trouble! The food was delicious and we have Denice recommended the crispy chilli beef wraps to friends of ours! We will definitely be returning to try more of the menu!

I have booked this hotel a few times for friends the rooms are nice and the outdoor area is lovely but what let’s this place down in the service which I can only describe as terrible! As I booked this for friends who were getting married on Saturday I turned up to pay for the room on Friday and was told “You can’t pay until Saturday” I explained that I’m unable to be there Saturday and reluctantly she allowed me to pay then ! My guests turned up on Saturday afternoon both in wedding dresses and were left waiting a long time with no help with luggage etc it was obvious they needed help , I was embarrassed when I was told how they were treated and for that I would not recommend this hotel , although if management bother to read reviews and reply and retrain their staff this place could be a real gem. Customer service is everything in hospitality!

Not as good as the photographs on the website suggest. My photos dont lie, image attached shows the entrance to my room, damp carpet piled up at the door. As you leave the hotel part the exit is at the toilets, again photographed. Careful which door you take or youll end up the loo. Worst hotel I have seen for access. At nearly £100 without breakfast and no staff on site at night its very poor
