Tenuta Pianirossi

Location: reachable through a dirt road of approx 3 km from the main road, badly sign-posted or not at all...not lit at night etc... a real "challenge" in the daytime let alone at night. The room was OK, but lacked both Air-Con and TV. ( this seems to be a choice made by the Proprietors to reach a ECO-Sustainable place! My take is that is done in order to save monies in TV Licences(one licence is required x room where the TV is installed and in Energy costs of the AC...Good idea, but this should be specified in the brochure/adverts etc...)..This in a rather remote place where the heat of the day is brutal and there is no night breeze; where the floors are made of raw red bricks not covered by carpets or any other sort of floor covering,( not possible to walk in the room without foot protection...) where is not possible to keep the French windows open due to the fact that people and animals can walk (and crawl) right to it and in it, the heat and the lack of fresh air is truly unbearable! The bathroom lacked places where to hang towels or clothes and there was precious little spaces where to put toiletries etc... The shower's "niche" could be dated to the '60's!...Badly designed in general and very uncomfortable. I feel that 120.Eu x night in this location is truly excessive and not really worth it. The Host is very nice and accommodating as are the rest of the Staff, the food is average to not very well prepared, in fact one evening they completely "destroyed" our "Fiorentina's Steaks"! The wine produced here is mediocre, rather impersonal, lacking real body and aroma...shame, because the location and the premises for making excellent wine are there. The "ratio" Quality-Price is really non existent! The price is way too high for what is offered.

I’m writing in English language because I would like to send to- not only Italian tourists - but even others future foreign guests, my personal opinion about Tenuta Piani Rossi. To be honest, I wasn’t been there because I reserved with my wife a room and when we reached the place, two very strange woman told us that our reservation was deleted, but it’s so curios because booking never informed us. Anyway, in a first moment one of two woman’s talk us back in a rude way without any reason. But after that, she started looking for an alternative for us… Guilty conscience? So, 1 minute after she offered us a room in an other structure close to Tenuta Piani Rossi, price 90euro. Arrived to the new place we remained shocked: no hot water for washing, no water for drinking, no coffe, nothing of nothing at all! In the middle of “desert”, without wi fi, connection, breakfast. In short words, a inactive farmhouse, never open and not ready for it. We tell our story because you have to know the totally unprofessionally of Tenuta Piani Rossi. We speak about owners ready to “stole” you everything for 100euro. You will find a very modest place, mosquitos and will stay an empty stomach.
