Caribe Town Bungalows

This place is a jungle paradise! Cozy comfortable bungalow style rooms with King bed, private bath and sweet little front porch are surrounded by lush greenery. It’s a short walk to beach, several great restaurants and grocery stores. It’s a great place to head out for adventure (so many outdoor activities nearby) or just stick around the property enjoying the small pool, spa services, spotting wildlife or taking one of the fitness classes offered on the yoga deck. The included breakfast is a REAL meal including coffee, fresh fruit and juices, and either their breakfast special (which changes daily) or a classic eggs, toast and sausage breakfast. The family that owns it and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is awesome- a little out of the busy part of town so it’s a more relaxed vibe but it’s an easy bike or tuk tuk ride to get to the heart of town. Stay here, you won’t regret it!

We (Mom and daughter, age 12) did a three night stay at Caribe Town and really enjoyed our visit. There was great communication throughout our entire booking process from answering initial questions to pre-booking a snorkel trip. Once we had arrived our questions were always answered and felt very attended to. Our little bungalow was perfect for sleeping or hanging out on the porch. Rustic, clean and tucked into the green foliage. Breakfast each morning was delicious. We took advantage of the small pool for afternoon dips and the location is down a small road and across the main 'highway' from a beautiful beach. My daughter loved their two dogs. We liked that it wasn't a big property, quieter and attentive. There are some restaurants in walking distance otherwise to get most other places you'll want a bike or order a TukTuk (small taxi). We loved eating dinner at Spicy Cocount! If looking for a smaller inn/hotel around Puerto Viejo/Punta Uva, this should be on your list!

It’s pretty rare to find a place where from the moment you walk in you feel completely at home. Well that is exactly what happened when we pushed open the large castle like doors into Caribe Town Bungalows. Although it was late evening the compound was well lit and easy to find. After parking we found our little home with no problem. Surrounded by the peacefulness and serenity of the jungle we slept like stones on the beach. The next morning we awoke to the magical sounds of the stirring creatures that would be our roommates for the next 4 nights. From here the story takes a turn for worse for my wife! She became ill and was not able to enjoy the property in the way I did. I’ll have to say, she mentioned multiple times that if she was going to be sick she would rather be there in the comfort of our bungalow then at home. From that point my plans changed but I made the best out of it as much as I could. I got to know the local baby sloth that roams the trees at night but sleeps all day lol. The pool is perfect for a midday cool down siesta. The drinks are top notch and the distance to the beach is within walking. Mornings are my favorite and they did not disappoint here. The made to order breakfast with local ingredients was absolutely delicious. Unlimited coffee and conversations were abundant. A different style smoothie offering added to the morning ritual. Now the people that run this tight operation did not disappoint either. Starting from the ground up the details for a place in the jungle are well thought out. The simplistic nature met with all the comforts you’ll need to have a wonderful stay. Leticia who whips up the tasty morning treats and who artfully manages the bungalows did a outstanding job. Aline is the beautiful face you’ll see throughout the day helping and guiding sun seekers find what they need during their stay. She not only checks you in but checks on you regularly to ensure your stay is what you expected. And more! The owners Karilily and Joel are fabulous. A power couple from Northern California that found home on a different coast in Central America. With family in tow they came to Costa Rica and created a space that allows them to help serve others in their quest to the tropics. I hope this helps when trying to decide where to stay on your visit to the Caribbean side of CR. It was our first time here and we will be coming back. My husband and I stayed here last year around the same time (3 nights only) and as soon as we arrived I knew that if came back to the Puerto Vijeo area this is where we would stay. Well, we did come back and this time it was for 2 weeks! The ownership is the same (Joel, Karilily and their now 4 kids!) but the staff was different than last year however just as amazing (Jeff, Becka, and Aline) We were in Bungalow #5 (#4 last year) and was clean, large king bed, ceiling fan and air conditioning. The location can't be beat! Quiet and away from Puerto Vijeo but still easy to get to (try out the local tuk tuk!) and there are also plenty of beaches and restaurants down this quiet end in Cocles. We always feel safe in Costa Rica and this area is no different.

My wife and I had the pleasure of saying at Caribe Town for two glorious weeks. Owners Joel and Karilily and staff Jeff, Becka, and Aline were caring, responsive, authentic and knowledgeable. We were in Bungalow #1 which was clean, comfortable and cozy with the perfect Caribbean vibe. The location was perfect: head north and there are plenty of places offering a wide variety of dining and beach experiences with great energy. Head south and, while there is still lots to discover, the pace slows down with less developed areas and almost empty beaches. On a personal note (and maybe a bit selfish) we hope that this magical part of Costa Rica can maintain the laid-back, natural feel that makes it unique. The locals seem to want to keep it that way, too. Pura Vida!

Firstly, we loved this place so much that if we had the chance to stay longer we would probably stay forever! ＜3. Karilily and Joel have created such a lovely, welcoming and charming paradise. The bungalows are very cute, the breakfasts are exceptional (thank you Joel for always preparing for us the most delicious meals) and being always so helpful and warm-hearted. This beautiful family even took care of offering extra activities in the property such as Zumba, Yoga classes and more (thank you Karilily for such a great range of organised classes). Moreover, waking up to the sounds and colorus of the jungle every morning was beyond beautiful. This is a sum up of perfect place to relax and enjoy the Pura Vida lifestyle! Everything about this place is perfect for your Costa Rica Caribbean experience. Just a walk to the beach, great breakfast every morning, dance and yoga classes, walking distance to stores and restaurants, bicycle rental across the street And of course the great service and friendly vibe from our hosts and the people who work there. Even after a month we’re still reminiscing of our time spent here and the people we met. If you’re looking to get to know the community, and forge relationships with amazing people i highly recommend staying here. The owners of caribe town are incredible people. We had such a lovely time talking to them about the area, community, and places to eat over amazing Coco Loco’s. Thank you so much Karilily and Joel, we’ll be back very soon!

Caribe Town hotel was such a lovely place to stay. The owners and staff were so friendly and helpful with lots of ideas and recommendations for food and things to do. The room was clean and I loved the veranda and hammock. They even had candles and mosquito coils. You feel like you are in your own private jungle oasis and you can even see sloths on the property. The breakfasts were tasty with fruit and homemade tortillas. They even made me a takeaway breakfast when I had to leave early for my shuttle to San Jose. I would totally stay here again and recommend it to people travelling to Puerto Viejo. You feel very welcome there.
