The room and bathroom are of medium size and clean, the windows can be opened, the bed is comfortable, and the wifi is good. There is a hair dryer, only 1 clothes hanger, and no shampoo, body soap, or TV. Five rooms share a kitchen, which is fully equipped with stoves, microwaves, refrigerators, dining tables, large and small pots, etc. There is a Lidl supermarket nearby, making life convenient. Close to the city center, only a 10-minute walk away. It's a bit far from Newport train station, and it takes about 20 minutes to walk to the hotel.

I have been staying at the Newport Student Village on a weekly basis for over 5 years now. I have always found the staff to be helpful, the room clean, bed comfortable & warm in the winter. The kitchen is excellent, has all you need & means that i am not either eating pub food or takeaways. Above all i have always felt safe staying here. I have & would highly recommend.

Unfortunately on arrival the person in charge of the desk was busy socialising with fellow students and got oneself locked out of the office. It took quite a while and a polite nudge to be able getting into the room after travelling all the way from Edinburgh down to Newport in Wales. Having stated at similar campuses, this should offer more value for money. Also, next door was a very inconsiderate mature student with loud noises if various media until midnight and beyind, then at 6.40am playing loud music.Rested?

Check-in was easy. The personnel were always nice and helpful. However, when I checked in, the room I was assigned was dirty, and had never been made by housekeeping. That was messy, but easily solved. It seemed like a smaller room that the one I was re-assigned. There's a lobby area and laundry access but you have to download an app and create an account in order to use the washer and dryer. It's an okay area at night but super safe during the day. Love that there is a water refill and hot water station with coffee and tea products in the lobby. I was able to leave my luggage for a few hours after checking out. And it feels super safe inside the building because I needed to scan my fob in any area I accessed (usually about 5 fob areas on the way to your room). The shared kitchen area is big and there's mugs and some utensils your can use, but mine didn't have a knife so there went my plans to cut up some fruits. There's a microwave and a big refrigerator you can use. The main issues I had were the following: no safe in the room. The shower was a horrible experience since the curtain was too short and there was no barrier separating it from the bathroom floor so the water flooded all over the place while the shower curtain kept sticking to me as I showered AND I could hear any snore or movement from my neighbor at night. And I'm sure he could hear me breathing too.

It’s a student dorm, so I had no expectations of grandeur. That said, I have stayed in my fair share if them. The treatment you get from their staff, who I expect are students, is dismissive. The floors are nasty and the shower and toilet are a compartment setup. The shower drain was so plugged that the who compartment flooded. The area is dodgy, and in transition. It is an area where the British government is depositing enormous numbers of recent migrants, mainly African and South Asian, mostly men. If you are going to experience Welsh culture then Newport is not the place to go. Actually South Wales is not very Welsh. Demographically it looks like any other large North American city.

Stayed here to visit Comic Con Wales 2022. Check in went smoothly, keys picked up from reception. Vending machines at reception and told about nearby Lidl and Asda. On arrival to the room I found the room very hotel. Room was pleasant for the price with a large double bed, desk and wardrobe. En suite bathroom pod which contained toilet, shower, mirror, bathroom shelf and sink. Mentioned at reception I needed a fan that night. Receptionist seemed to be in the process of being trained up by other receptionist. He was quite distant. Had to email reception a few hours later as no fan had been provided and another receptionist brought the fan up. Shared kitchen/TV room very clean with lots of facilities. Building very safe as key fob used around 4 times in the building to get to room. The walls are paper thin and I could hear the room next door's conversation from 7am on the Saturday which was very irritating as I didn't have to be up for my event until later. The room next door were stomping around and slamming doors. Even for the price, I would expect a shower I could get washed properly in. It was difficult as the shower pressure was very low and only a small trickle of water came out. Toiletries provided. Sheets were not changed during my 3 night stay nor were the bins emptied. There was no toilet brush which is basic hygiene. Top shelf of desk had not been cleaned and was very dusty. Apart from that, room very clean. Location excellent for local supermarkets, bingo Hall across the road and only a 5-10 taxi ride from the city centre and train station. A hairdryer was provided. All in all, excellent value for money and low price but a shower that enables proper washing is a basic human right and the very low water pressure needs to be addressed. The rooms and building need air conditioning due to the extreme heat in the summer.

Located next to a major road bridge if, as we were, allocated a third floor room, the same level as the road it is very difficult to get a good nights sleep. In addition the walls are paper thin. Staff very nice and tried to help but due to limited rooms were unable to move us to the other side of the building.

Only stay here if you have no other options. I would compare it to similar conditions as prison! When I arrived to my room, the door was open so that was concerning! The kitchen is barely stocked, there is an oven but no oven gloves and all the dials had the text rubbed off! The bed is awful, I could count the springs in it through my back! The hallway stinks like 200 curries have been cooked here and what sort of hotel room doesn't have a TV. I get its £35 a night but so many of the basics were missing! Awful

Great value for money close to all amenities could do with a bit of updating in rooms bed not very comfortable mattress was to soft. Shower curtain was broken didn’t go all the way round but didn’t affect having a shower other than water going everywhere other than that still a great stay for the money paid would definitely use again if I go that way again
