This hotel is in serious need of an update, I am sorry to say I have no good comments to make, it started with a very unwelcoming and unclean entrance, to then see all the covid signs still around the reception! The bathroom radiator was hanging of the wall and the flooring in one part felt as if it would collapse at any moment, this was reported to staff who did not seem to care, the prices for food and drink are laughable for the quality and the breakfast was shocking to say the least!!

I booked this place in a bit of a rush before I'd had the chance to read reviews on it. I would probably have bypassed it based on those reviews but I'm so glad I've been to experience the hotel for myself. My room was really spacious, warm, comfortable and clean. Bed was massive and so comfy, had a brilliant night's sleep. The hotel had character but to say it was "tired looking" is overly critical in my view. Food was excellent, breakfast was of similar standard to most. Staff were friendly, though typical of Highlanders, reserved - if you're looking for staff to gush over you, you're in the wrong part of the world. It was so good I decided to stay another night and wouldn't hesitate to come back again. I only review places if they're either terrible or excellent and Morangie is definitely the latter. I can only imagine that things have greatly improved here or that previous negative reviews have come from a bunch of Karens.

Our stay was extremely disappointing. The room was in serious need of some TLC. Mould in bathroom, problems with the cistern, unclean walls, ill fitting tired old curtains, the list could go on. Worst breakfast ever - pot of dry beans, overcooked snd burnt haggis snd sausages, hard cold bacon and the poached egg was rock hard. Service was slow and needed to ask for everything. Our meal the previous evening was very nice sadly, but very overpriced for the surroundings. I gave feedback at the reception when checking out but no genuine acknowledgment was given and any compensation was refused despite how much we’d spent during our stay. Would never recommend staying here.

We had originally made a reservation to stay at Mansfield Castle in Tain on a recent tour around Scotland. However, a week or so before we left to begine our trip, they contacted us and advised that their bolier was currently undergoing repairs. They rebooked us at an "affiliate property" (Morangie House) at no extra charge and even upgraded the room for us! EXCELLENT customer service and they stayed in touch with us as well. A somewhat older property but one with a TON of character and history. Well-maintained and room was large and well-appointed. Excellent, attentive staff. Great free breakfast, lovely paid dinner in the downstairs dining room / bar. While there are some stairs to negotiate (no lift), they are fairly shallow and easy to navigate. Lots of free on-site parking and fairly accessible from nearest major roadway. Good WiFi.

The Morangie Hotel is a dump. We got bumped here after the Mansfield Castle had been closed because it had no heating but this seems to common practice, there’s been a range of reasons for many months. Every expense has been spared to ensure profits before quality but quality prices are charged in an ego inflated ideal of what providing hotel service is about. At over £200 per night this place was dreadful value compare to some of the places we've stayed for between £90-£100 per night. We refused the first bedroom we were offered because the bed was awful, the mattress was crap, probably very old. We accepted the second room against my better judgement but it was late and we needed a place to stay. Once we got to bed, the worn sleeping positions you had to fit to just told you it was a tired, old mattress. That wasn't even the biggest problem, the old linoleum on the floor in the bathroom was stained, the side of the bath was damaged and sitting out of place. The toilet seat had been replaced with the cheapest seat from a DIY shop and then there was the shower. The shower unit is approximately 50 years old, I know this because I had the exact same model in my parents house when I was growing up in the 70's but the pressure was too insulting to be described as a shower. By chance, the owner happened to be dominating the bar at the expense of his customers, nevertheless I thought it appropriate to raise my concerns with him directly but he was such a bombastic, arrogant character, he didn't entertain my comments, overriding the conversation to tell me how hard business was and how difficult things were for him, in running the hotel. He did later, buy my partner and I a drink, presumably as a peace offering but this only confirmed his complete lack of understanding of the basics of providing hotel services. An awful experience.

Hotel is a bit tired. Room was poorly dressed. Bed under window! Small old fashioned portable TV. Bathroom in desperate need of refurbishment. Staff were really helpful and food in restaurant good. Overall accom and food/drink over-priced and really felt poor value for money to spend £150 on a room without breakfast.

Lovely hotel which is a bit dated but perfectly nice. Our room was very clean and completely adequate for our nights stay with the dog. Bar meals are good as is breakfast. The staff are all lovely but Laura deserves an extra special mention. She’s a superstar. Nothing was too trouble and she went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible!!

Excellent rooms and fabulous service. Staff very friendly and food amazing. Bar prices very reasonable and rooms large and clean. We were booked into the sister hotel which was sadly closed due to damage, the hotel manager recognised the inconvenience caused and couldn't do enough to make up for the very slight inconvenience caused.

We needed a small room for a one night stay. It fit the bill. Not comparable to larger hotels in bigger cities, but it fulfilled my needs. The restaurant meal was excellent and the staff was friendly.
