Dover Bay Resort

I spilled some non-smelling laundry detergent on the bed and was charged for an entire new mattress without anyone even talking to me. I felt like it could have been handled in a more professional and fair way.

This is my second time staying at Dover Bay. My first experience was during summer of 2020 when my family and I had to get away and try to have some fun during the height of the pandemic. My first stay was in cabin 168. It’s right on the water with a great view and sleeps about 10 people. You do not have access to the inlet but you can fish from the bank and the view is incredible. My most recent stay was in cabin 206 “the 3 bears”. This will be my preferred cabin. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths on the first floor. The master has an on suite bath. It has a nice, full kitchen with a living room and television. Head upstairs and you will find a loft that has a queen bed and a set of bunk beds with a very nice full bath. The loft also has a sitting area and TV. It was the perfect spot for my 10 and 6 yr old as well as my 16 yr old niece. Cabin has fast Internet, great front porch with a gas grill and eating area. It also has a washer/dryer combo which is so helpful with kids. It does not have a view of the water but that doesn’t really matter that much. The property is incredible. There are expansive walking trails for exploration. They have a full service marina where ski boats and pontoon boats (at a very reasonable price) can be rented. There is a heated pool, jacuzzi and awesome fitness center. A few hundred feet from the marina, is a private beach and park with play equipment. They have a great restaurant that serves lunch/dinner with a full bar. They also have a great little store that sells everything from beer to clothing and worms for fishing. I like coming out here because I can bring all the food I need and cook it in the cabin. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is very easy to do in the cabin. The restaurant on site is delicious but I’m not spending to feed 5 people daily. I see no reason to leave the resort but if you do, downtown Sandpoint is only about 10 mins away. There you will find a massive city beach, tons of restaurants and great shopping. My only complaint is this place’s availability which speaks to how great it is. Don’t have the expectation of calling them on a Wednesday and then staying that upcoming weekend. I book my summer trips there about 6 months out. You also get to speak with a real on site person when you call. They are managed on site and not by a 3rd party booking agency. Booking online is also very easy. Sometimes you can get lucky (I happened to luck out for Father’s Day with a cancelation) but don’t bank on it. This place also has a 3 night minimum. That has never bothered me because it forces me to take that time off to relax. I live about 2hrs away from the resort so I don’t want to get there just to turn around and come back home. 3 nights is perfect. Also, all the 1 and 2 star reviews are from 5 years ago. This place has had some kinks and they have all been worked out. I have recommended Dover Bay to about 8 other families who have stayed here and I’ve never heard a complaint. It’s great for a couple
