We arrived late at night, about 10pm. I had tried to call to find out reception times but had had no luck getting through. Thankfully reception was open until midnight and check in was fast and efficient. The amenities where spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The accommodation pods are on stilts and there is some movement if people are walking around but it didn’t bother us at all. Our room (king bed) had a nicely appointed bathroom, nothing huge but still spacious enough, a large cupboard and an area with tea and coffee making facilities , the bedroom was huge with one whole wall of sliding glass doors which in summer would be amazing for opening up to the veranda which is full length. Fantastic views of the animal paddock and the ocean. All the staff we dealt with where so friendly and helpful. My only complaints are that the website has no contact phone number details that I could find and the number I got through Trip.com didn’t seem to work, just went to message bank, and there was no details on the website about reception times. The blinds in our room have a reasonable gab between them so a fair bit of light came though in the morning. I’m a light sleeper if it’s not pitch black so I woke early but nothing too concerning. Both easy fixes for the company to make. The accommodation pods have five rooms in them, so excellent for extended family vacations where everyone gets their own space but are all close by. The restaurant and cafe have fantastic views. There is a huge kids playground but I only saw it from a distance. It looked very nice from what I could see. There is animal feeding tours which would great for young families and grandkids. Highly recommend for a lovely quite holiday. Also on the plus side, very close to the airport and Hobart.

I rarely go out of my way to write a review but have loved staying at this place so much (and am so surprised to read some of the negative reviews). I travelled with family so we booked two rooms. For a long weekend it was great value (elsewhere in Hobart, Richmond etc was much pricier). One of our rooms got upgraded to a premium so we had the lovely large verandah to enjoy the view and watch the animals and birds go by. The other was one of the smaller standard rooms, which had a smaller balcony with more limited views (but still great value for the price). The fixtures are quality and comfortable. The rooms themselves just have a pod machine and kettle with a selection of teas. The communal kitchenette has a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge (plus crockery, cutlery, sink etc). You wouldn't be able to cook big meals there, but was absolutely fine for our purposes. We didn't get to try the restaurant - I really don't like eating out with my young kids - so the first night we just got takeaway from nearby Sorrell and the second night we ate picnic style with things we'd gathered during the day (including some of the fruit from the on-site orchard which we were allowed to pick for free). The playground adjacent to the restaurant was so great, my kids just loved it. But the real highlight was hand feeding the animals. You buy a bucket of feed from reception for $5, but it gets a whole lot of stock feed, kept the little ones busy for ages. They fed sheep, alpacas, a horse and pony plus ducks. We also spotted ducklings, chook with chickens, peacocks with babies and turkeys with babies. The first night we were lucky enough to have the whole pod to ourselves. The second night two more of the rooms were let, but we didn't hear them at all (unless you were in the hall very near the other room). I didn't find it an inconvenience to unload the bags then park 50m away - rather it made it feel safer for my kids to ride their bikes around as there was less traffic moving around near the accommodation. Will return again, that's for sure.

This review is not for the accommodation or the restaurant. As a local it is clear this place is just for tourists and I wouldn't stay or eat here. I did however pull over to buy cherries after a bumper growing season this year. Tasmanian cherries are now exported overseas, so the local population no longer get a bite of the cherry. Iron Creek charge nearly double market price for their crop, so this was a great opportunity (missed) to pay double market price for their fruit, and it gets even more expensive when you pick your own.

A short drive from Hobart Airport. If you’ve already done Hobart and are looking to drive up the East Coast, it’s the ideal first stop.

The farm stay is a very cool property and we should have loved everything about it-but we didn’t. Check in is confusing and dropping bags at the room is problematic on a one way road with no where to pull over. Once we got to the room it was beautiful and looked out over the farm-and the bay-breathtaking. We enjoyed a beautiful walk before dinner-the food was delicious. However the service, especially for cocktails was slow and inexperienced. The cocktail list was extensive-but they didn’t even have basic ingredients or knowledge on making them! No citrus, cherries or sugar cubes!! I believe it is a new property and it hasn’t really taken off yet-the location near the Hobart airport is a huge plus, so I hope things improve.

View and condition of the rooms are top notch. But I can smell the paint in my room, probably cuz it's newly decorated.

Interaction with the animals was brilliant. Having the Alpaca's come right up to our balcony when eating, and chilling was awesome. Cleanliness is what let things down a little, which was all the poop and stuff on the chairs and table on the balcony, and a fair amount of dust in various parts of the room. Overall it was fair, and as it was a short stay, not being able to sit and have breakfast with the Alpaca's wasn't a deal breaker. Just would have been nice if that area was a little cleaner. The restaurant was awesome as well. Food was delicious, and good service. Ended up eating breakfast and dinner there. Parking was a bit tough. Recent rain had turned the parking nearest to our room (still a bit of a walk) into a mud pit. We were in building 12 I think. Other than that, a nice peaceful stay, and would go there again. Glad I found the place.

To start we couldn't find reception despite signs. The room itself one of 3 in a small building. Very dark due to wood panelling & lack of lighting. The TV didn't work & eventually a staff member worked that out. The aircon remote showed Fahrenheit ! Parking a good 100 metres away. There was a single lane one way road out front for dropping off or picking up luggage. The website said the restaurant open Friday & Saturday only. So we were resigned to drive the 4km into Sorell for dinner as it was Thursday, but the restaurant was open so we dined there. Good choices reasonably priced, only us & 3 other groups dining. Overall very disappointing & would not recommend as a 1 night for travellers. Anyone attending a wedding or other function may find it convenient to stay overnight.
