"The hotel is in a good location for a city centre stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Reception excellent. Bar staff excellent, restaurant staff excellent. The room was very clean and well laid out. Tea and coffee making in the room. Bed was very comfortable. The room was cleaned during our visit, bed made, cups replaced, etc. We were on the 5th floor and the lift was always available, although it was quiet. We ate at the hotel on the first night and the food was very tasty with quite a good selection, as well as a good selection of drinks at the bar. We were advised of a special offer if we joined the Leonardo Advantage Club of 15% off drinks and food, when paying off a tab which really helped. We booked a breakfast for the first morning. Breakfast is buffet style with all sorts of juices, coffee, cereals, yoghurts, etc. It was a very good selection for this size of hote. Breakfast was served between 7:00am and 11:00 am and our only criticism was that when we got to breakfast at 10:00am, some of the hot buffet items were warm going on cold. We were told that this was a problem with the hotplates but we felt that the hot food should have been checked more thoroughly. To the hotels credit, we were compensated for the breakfast problem. All in all we had a great 2 night stay and would stay at this hotel again."

"Had a lovely stay at the Indigo Hotel , nice clean and modern room with a lovely big bed and nice shower , we also had a complimentary mini bar with free soft drinks , great location right in the heart of Exeter ,which was great for eating out and going to a few bars , the staff we found very friendly and welcoming and I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a hotel in Exeter 👍"

"A recently refurbished, and therefore vastly improved, hotel. Check-in was via the automated kiosk which actually worked; not my usual experience at Premier Inn. I did the new online check-in in the app and did expect the app to function as my room key, but it doesn’t look like Premier Inn have caught up with that yet. The room itself was immaculately presented, looked and smelled fresh, everything worked. I do prefer the new style rooms, even over the previous new rooms which had a very dark furniture making it feel dated. Overall a good stay, no staff interaction as didn’t see any as didn’t use the restaurant. Breakfast has become expensive for an adult without children (who eat free, so essentially an adult is subsidising other people’s kids to eat at no cost) so ate locally, there’s a Costa directly opposite. Hotel was pricy, it was £115 for a night which I think anything over £100 for a Premier Inn is overpriced, but everywhere in Exeter that night was very expensive - it’s become a hugely expensive city post-pandemic and no more so than parking. The hotel has no car park, there is a train station car park opposite which is £15.20 for 24 hrs but if you use the overflow car park next door this is £12.20 so worth it for the extra few metres walk."

"In a class by itself in poor Exeter, this small hotel exceeds on a number of counts. Personal attention from a local staff and on-site owner, beautiful curated rooms, outstanding breakfasts, perfect location for walkers (taxi from train station), private garden- quiet and green. It’s an historic home, 1805, of an East Indian company captain, with fabulous eclectic collection of paintings. The man, William Kirkpatrick, is highlighted in hotel literature, but full appreciation of his singular life requires reading the biography chapter of William Dalrymple’s White Mughals ( itself a revelation and delight). If life brings you to Devon, simply sleep here. Rooms require stair climbing."

"Had a wander down here while staying in Bampton. It didn't have much to offer for the length of the walk, so we sadly didn't return. The barman was lovely and served us well, but then all we could hear was him complaining about his job to other customers, which let him down. Maybe had it been busier the atmosphere would have a bit more inviting."

"Our superior king room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. Very large bathroom too with a large bath and separate shower cubicle. Bed was very comfortable and the room had lovely views. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. We drove to the hotel from the A38 to the hotel and the lanes were narrow (as are many lanes in Devon and Cornwall) but the drive through Haldon Forest was beautiful. We drove out the other way through Ide village onto the A30 which was a bit wider! Would definitely stay again."
