The hotel is lovely and very posh by comparison to other hotels within the Black Forest area. Pros and cons are as follows Pros: - close to public transport links to which is helpful if you travelled by train from the airport like us. - very nice facilities which include two pools, a gym, and sauna/steam room. - the food is very good quality and the selection is decent too. The full board option offers you breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. - you can hire mountain bikes for free or hire electric bikes for €30. - children’s area with toys, PlayStation etc. - hotel is situated close to local hiking routes and the tourist tax also allows you to use public transport for free if you care to venture further, outside of Hinterzarten. Cons: - the full board package is good but there is definitely room for improvement. This should include children’s meals without an additional cost, and the drinks offered throughout the day should also be included - we were charged €4 for tap water! which quite frankly is outrageous (especially after querying this and still being told we have to pay for this) - given the location, the hotel attracts a lot more local and couples, so you can find yourself a little isolated given as a family at times. Fully appreciate that is not the hotel’s fault but it is more of an observation. - rooms should really include air conditioning - we had some very hot weather which would have been a lot more comfortable at night with this addition. - the lack of children’s bikes meant we couldn’t fully take advantage of these as a family which is was disappointing. Overall the stay has been very pleasant but given the amount you are paying each night, there are a lot of areas that can be improved and something I’ve found to be a pattern with the reviews on this platform.

We spent an extend weekend to celebrate the birthday of my wife. The hotel has a lot of history. Very friendly and obliging staff. Excellent food and service. Small Sauna area but fit the purpose. Nice Swimming pool indoor and outdoor. Need some renovation which the owner have planned in the next 4 weeks.

A really charming and beautiful hotel across a number of buildings. One of the best bedrooms we have had in terms of decoration and furnishings not sure about the kids beds position over the main bed (ok for our 8 and 10 year olds). We really enjoyed hiking straight from the hotel in to the forests, swimming and table tennis, breakfast and evening meal were really outstanding, although would have been useful for children’s evening meal to be included in the package. Mini bar in the room really appreciated. A straight forward lunch and very posh afternoon tea. Reception and restaurant staff all amazing thanks guys! We loved it !

Perfect experience with our 4 kids under 7 years old. The room was perfectly adapted for a family and well equiped. The hotel is very quiet, the service is great and super nice. Families are more than welcome, there is a very nice mix of generation. Extra cost are low - almost everything is included in the pension and there are no bad surprises. The parc is just beautiful, with a play ground for kids and lots of different activities (badbinton, ping pong, etc.) are possible. The village is also very nice, with lots of different shops. There are many hike you can make in the area.

we had a new Junior suite on the low floor, with a terrace and good space. We would have wished for a bit more space to put the suitcase, instead having it just after the entrance in the hallway, perfect would be a corner to have it out of sight and more important to chance to run it down. Bathroom was wow, great shower and lots of space, the bathtub behind the bad is not for everybody, we did not need it, but cute idea. The drawback on this room is the way to get there, lots of small staircases, corners. The Renovation has made it a stunning modern interior Hotel to the tradition from the outside. Spa also very nice atmosphere with the asian touch. Food menu, good choices and we had a charming waiter, always in a good mood.

This luxury hotel provided a relaxing quality experience at the end of our European holiday. The room was large and very comfortable with beautiful decor. It was excellent to find a gym on site. There were a couple of minor let-downs. The evening meals included an unimpressive ice cream asthedessert course - one would have expected such a high quality establishment to push the boat out when it comes to showing off their Nachtisch culinary skills, however it was not to be. It was far too warm overnight and a fan would have been hugely helped up, however, this basic item was not provided. In the ‘wellness’ area, there was a room containing numerous beds and loungers where one could recline and have a peaceful rest - in public. As this is a hotel, where people have access to such things in private, this seems bizarre. The rather poorly thought out gym could have been expanded into this space to make something special and thus attract a wider demographic who might actually want to look after themselves physically. There was a selection of dumbbells that had to be taken apart and reassembled to change the weight, a pull-up bar that was located only about two inches below the ceiling, and several resistance machines that were out of order. My highlight of this hotel, which overshadowed everything else was the bercher muesli. This was one of the best things I have even eaten and a member of staff was even kind enough to give me the recipe. For this reason alone, my overall score goes from a 4+ to a 5!

A very nice hotel, in an excellent location. Great service from the hotel staff. And the meals at the hotel are of a high standard and worthy of a michelin star. The hotel's spa is at a high international level. The hotel's indoor and outdoor pools are amazing, warm and fun.

For those who value comfort,serenity and true ideal forest that is the real place!I be coming here for more than 12 years,with the family or sometimes even alone to enjoy family hotel with personal attitude for everyone,small village-resort Hinterzarten located on the edge of the famous Black Forest and all facilities needed for an excellent vacation.

Our 2022 stay Oct 3 thru 6, in an amazing upscale Junior Suite in the Main Building. Beautiful stylish decor and excellent care by housekeeping and the front desk staff. Every request met with friendly obliging employees. The Owner is an amazing Woman. Friendly, Courteous with an excellent Hotel Background from her Family. The food was delicious, prepared with care and presented in a beautiful Black Forest decor setting. This was our second visit and we will definitely visit again in the future.
