For 55USD which I paid on their official website, this is very poor value compared to what I have experienced elsewhere in Sri Lanka, even after factoring in that things in galle are more expensive and that I came during the tail end of tourist season. I think this place would have been more acceptable at 25-30 USD range. Individually, these were issues that I could deal with, but altogether, it made for a very poor experience. (1) Broken bed frame on one side (2) Stains on the bed sheets (3) Blinds that can’t be raised (4) No 24 hour front desk despite stating otherwise on the website (5) Water pressure of the shower is inconsistent, sometimes slows to a drip (6) Front doors are locked at night till morning and the staff did not inform us (isn’t that a fire hazard?) (7) Fumes from kitchen will go into your room if you keep the windows open (8) AC is weak and room is hot and stuffy if you don’t open the windows. AC stopped working on the 3rd night of my stay and remained at 29/30 degrees. (9) Music and the cooking noise from the restaurant on the ground floor would be an issue if you are a light and early sleeper. The room is next to the air well which connects directly to the kitchen. Also the window faces the AC engine of the opposite room so you’ll hear the vibrations throughout the whole night. (10) Really cramped washroom. The toilet will be completely drenched when you take a shower. (11) Sp**** room with just a backpack shelf and a bed. Would be nice to have a desk or chair or a rack to hang clothes. (The hotel‘s advertised photos shows many amenities like cups, kettle, tea bags, water flasks, laundry bag, tissue, toothbrush - but my shelf was completely bare) (12) No daily housekeeping (13) We were charged a higher price at check in than what was stated in the email booking. (14) Loose open wires hanging from the ceiling. Used to be a fan? Maybe they should have kept it or fix it. (15) No safe box to store valuables. (16) you’ll get much better rates getting a tuk tuck on your own thank asking the staff. There were definitely plus points too (1) Lots of charging points (2) Fancy art pieces (3) Trendy and convenient location (4) Firm, comfortable bed (5) Lots of eating and shopping options in the area (6) Sufficient free space in the room to lay down a yoga mat on the floor for a work out (7) easy walk to the lighthouse at night and to the sun bastion or around the fort to see the sunrise (8) restaurant on the ground floor has an attractive menu. (I did not try the food so will not be able to comment on the cooking) Tuk tuk from the hotel to Galle railway station is approximately 200-300 rupees. In essence this is more of a restaurant/bistro with rooms attached, and not a hotel with a restaurants as a feature.
