During a recent stay at the Beau-Rivage, we learned why it is among the world's greatest hotels. The location is superb, but it is not the only hotel on Lake Geneve with a view of le jet d'eau. It is also not the only hotel with an elegant decor and physical property. Neither the location nor the physical facilities account for this hotel's unique character. What makes the Beau-Rivage stand out among the many fine hotels in Europe is the attentiveness of the staff. Our family had a unique scenario, and the staff's flexibility was truly commendable. We had two rooms at a staggered reservation to account for our daughter coming in to Geneve a day after our arrival. This arrangement was made without any hassle, making us feel that our needs were truly understood and met. The hotel staff at the front desk made all the arrangements upon our check-in to ensure no confusion upon our daughter's later arrival. These arrangements left my wife and I free to enjoy our time at Watches & Wonders without any worry about returning to the hotel to ensure our daughter could check-in. Throughout our stay, the staff was always attentive and a step ahead, whether at breakfast at La Chat Botte or on the terrace in the evening during a private dinner, when they brought my wife and other women in dresses a warm throw to place over their shoulders to protect against the light chill coming off the lake. Thanks to shenanigans by a certain British airline I had to check out at 4:30AM on my final day while my daughter stayed behind until much later, and again the process was seamless, with a taxi obtained expeditiously and help with my luggage provided. From beginning to end, our stay was splendid and we look forward to a future visit.
