We’re staying here now, and sadly, our experience has fallen far short of our expectations. One of the main reasons we choose to stay at hotels is for the local knowledge and recommendations, an area where the staff here has been remarkably unhelpful and unfamiliar, despite the website’s claims to the contrary. For example, they were unable to give us advice on attending a popular Easter festival in the town — and told us the event wasn’t happening. Luckily, we went downtown and were able to speak to some local residents who advised us on where to go. When we asked for recommendations for hikes in the local area, we received a confusing response. The receptionist asked us why we wanted to walk and told us that the hotel had bikes available. When we reiterated our interest in going on a hike, our inquiry was ignored, with no further assistance provided — probably because of the staff’s lack of familiarity with the local area. A major disappointment was the advertised transportation service to the town center. The website implies complementary transportation to the city center. At check-in, we learned the hotel offers only one (one-way!) trip per stay, leaving us to rely on taxis for the rest of our visit. Dining here also fell below our expectations. Though breakfast was included, the menu was extremely limited and seemed to come with extra charges for anything beyond the basic offerings. Upon our 5 PM arrival after a long day of travel, we were informed the kitchen wouldn’t open until 7 PM. After some discussion, the waiter brought us 5 chips, sans salsa, guacamole, or any accompaniments. Additionally, be aware that reservations are required to use the pool, located a short golf cart ride away in a shared private community—a fact we learned through fellow guests who missed out on using the pool when they wanted to because it was fully booked. While the room and the serene atmosphere were lovely, as were some of the planned activities, the overall lack of guest-centric service and misleading advertising have made our stay far from the relaxing retreat we had hoped for. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback, prompting Our Habitats to address these significant shortcomings in communication and service to truly meet the standards expected of a high-quality resort.

Upon arriving we were greeted by Lvette who made our stay magical. She was very kind and explained the property. Escorted us to our room. Made sure we had everything we needed. Was very knowledgeable in all the activities and services at the property. We stayed in a Vista room. The view was breath taking! It was absolutely beautiful. The entire property was stunning. Everything from the rooms, walkways, restaurant. Both dinner and breakfast were fantastic. It was all magical. The playita is a short golf cart ride away and is super pretty. It's worth visiting to see even if not swimming. Thank you Lvette and Our Habitas for a truly magical experience!

This was one of the most inspiring stays. It really felt familiar and like home and at the same time it felt like discovering a totally new place. The room had an amazing view, the staff and the service were on point and the food was delicious! The activities, the peaceful surroundings and the other visitors made the whole stay complete.

First time at a Habitas and in SMA. I'm impressed. Think of it as an urban dessert boho vibe. It's a full 10 min taxi drive to the city centre of SMA so take that into account. Ideally, you do a few nights here and then a few in the town center. Here it is more of a resort and less about the culture/town. The property is gigantic. Really gorgeous landscaping and tons and tons of cute little outdoor areas to commune, to sit, eat, etc. I think all the cabins are the same and the category is about placement - I stayed in a Ridge and it was great. Comfortable, clean, spacious. If you want to save a few bucks, just get the entry level and it will still be fine. Went to their Beach Club for a few hours - it's a 10 min walk or they will take you in the cart. Pretty amazing - they don't have a proper pool but the sunbathing spaces are killer and great service. Nice programming daily of some fitness classes, arts workshops, outdoor movies. Now - the best part....THE FOOD. Holy moly. I loved every single bite of every dish I had (eat here for breakfast lunch and dinner and wouuld have done so for a week, it was that good). So flavorful and fresh and well done. Truly, special cuisine. In general, staff were great, friendly and professional and the grounds are pristine. This would be a fun place for a group of friends or family to stay for a few days - lots of gatherings areas. There were a few minor misses but everything else more than made up for it. 1. the yoga instructor never showed up for a class and oddly the front desk also didn't acknowledge this. 2. got lost b/c google maps sends you to a wrong entrance. I received comm about the correct address but it was too late. Also, it seems Habitas will be part of a larger community b/c there's other buildings being constructed on the very large property (including near the "beach" club. I think this is a great thing if they all adopt a similar vibe of Habitas. Thanks!
