We've just returned from a 10night stay to this island/resort, all I can say is Wow ! From the minute we decided to book our holiday and working our way through the many resorts available in the Maldives we were certainly not disappointed with our choice to this beautiful part of the world. We would highly recommend this resort. From the minute we stepped off the sea plane, nothing has been to much trouble from the staff We stayed in a beach bungalow which was very spacious and kept very clean from the daily cleaning to the nightly turndown service. The food in the restaurant was to an excellent standard and covered everyone’s tastes, nightly cuisine changes so never fed up with the same food Nightly entertainment from crab racing, cinema on the beach to a separate BBQ which was chargeable, this was worth every dollar, the lobster and shellfish was the best I have ever tasted. We will never forget our time at this resort we have been left with memories of a life time From the relationships we have built with other holiday makers to the staff Special shout out to the following staff that could not do enough for us and went the extra mile to make our holiday the best !! Romesh -Bar supervisor what a lovely kind man, nothing was to much trouble and he was wonderful at the BBQ evenings (we did two of them as we loved them so much) Anjali - she was so attentive from our first day (she was the first person we spoke to) and I cried when we left. Nagana - such a lovely lady and always warned us of spice level ( not to hot we always asked) Shifaan - such a lovely guy, after a couple of visits to his side of the restaurant he knew us so well our drinks were always waiting for us on our table, no need to order them ! Rayaan - again what a wonder guy in the restaurant, he had just started in the restaurant when we arrived, but he soon got to grips with everything over the days we were there - good luck with your career journey!! In all fairness ALL the staff were amazing, and you can see how much they love their jobs and are very happy working in this resort. This resort is paradise and the staff help create this atmosphere! Keep up the good work and one day I hope we will be back to see you all again Kevin & Lesley-Anne

The island is really a paradise. The staff are always welcoming and helpful and everything is so clean and tidy, they even rake the beaches… We did the skark snorkel which was amazing and we did scuba and went on some of the inclusive snorkel trips where we saw rays and turtles. We also visited the Mandra spa twice and can’t rate Nopita & Prita enough they really know what they are doing, I wish I had time to go again. And Jeri at the reception is so lovely and welcoming. The only thing I can say that I am disappointed in is that we were supposed to get a bottle of sparkling wine in our room which I reminded them about never arrived. But I had plenty at the bar… I would highly recommend this resort to future travellers who are looking for a relaxing island paradise. We hope to return soon…

My husband and I visited here and we definitely want to come back. The island was gorgeous, truly a tropical paradise. There was plenty to do, with shark watching, snorkelling excursions, water sports, not to mention relaxing on the beach or balcony and swimming in the sea. It is truly tropical paradise. The staff were soooo friendly and really kind. They even created a special birthday theme in our room! We reeaaaally enjoyed the night where we danced with all the staff too. We were looked after at meal times by Saleem and he made sure everything was perfect. A magical holiday in a magical destination. Can’t wait to visit again soon.

Paradise. Everything was super organised and clean. Staff very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. I experienced a power failure following a storm. It was rectified almost immediately. Spa was fantastic snorkelling 🤿 excellent twice per day & other excursions good. Will have be back at some point!

We have visited a few resorts in the Maldives and so wanted to add our perspective on this hotel. Felt this was important as much of the focus in reviews we found before arriving was on the platinum island. We stayed on the normal island with our 12 year old son Starting with a couple of positives; 1) Room; we stayed in beach villa 210; the room and layout were brilliant, it was spacious and right next to all the amenities such as pool and main bar. Room was well looked after with lovely open air shower area and a direct run of beach to the sea. 2) Ambience; the resort was very chilled out, not busy at all and felt like there were hardly any guests, nothing felt rushed. 3) Pool area; the pool is lovely and spacious with a great swim up bar area Outside of this it was a difficult experience for us; Maldivian islands have always led for us with their friendly people focussed approach but this is not what we found on this island 1) Arrival; felt industrialised and impersonal; no one really stopped to be ‘real’ or chatty with us, no manager introduction or friendliness at all. Just our seaplane bill thrust at us before we were left to find our way. Terrible start to our experience. 2) Cost control; like most people the idea of an all inclusive is so that you can relax and not think about costs. Hakuura feels like the cost saving management consultants just left. Everything is about the extras they can sell you or the upsell they can make. Staff would occasionally stop to talk to us but it soon became apparent this was only to try to get us to go on some basic trip at cost. Want to race a crab? $10, want anything other than the most basic premixed cocktail? Upgrade to premium all inclusive…the list was endless 3) Staff happiness; the best resorts we’ve stayed in clearly invest in their staff; everyone here seemed just sad most of the time; no eye contact. We make an effort to say hello to everyone when on holiday; about half way through we gave up as there was often no response 4) Investment; it’s clear that the focus has moved to the platinum island; much of the infrastructure that was used ten years ago (long pier and associated bar area) has been closed down so that the place has a weirdly scattered dilapidated feel to it, kind of like the glory days are over vibe. 5) Food and drink; although generally good in flavour it’s clear the chef is working to the tightest of budgets; meats were grisly and produce less than fresh. All inclusive wine is out of a box; the white served cold is drinkable, but the red is pretty bad. 6). The roof! As mentioned by many before the villa roofs are canvas in construction and are beyond noisy during rain and storms; several nights this destroyed any prospect of sleep for us; effectively the most important part of a supposedly relaxing experience. Not sure who thought this was a good idea but I would honestly recommend looking at alternative resorts just on this basis. So we won’t

The whole holiday was perfect to the warm welcome and drums on arrival to the wave off on the way home , nothing is too much trouble for any of the team at the Hakuura , our room boy visited 2 times a day even in the torrential rain , he went out of his way to tell us about the Maldives and what to look out for when snorkeling , he turned down the beds at night and asked everyday if there was anything else he could whilst cleaning the room , The bar staff especially Palladio went above and beyond , some people do take advantage though , nothing is too much trouble for them , they work very hard . The island is small and our over water villa just made the stay perfect , I had our washing and ironing done to take home and it was $55 for unlimited amounts , it was done within the day . There’s rain Mac’s in the room for the ever changing weather , iron and ironing board , dressing gowns and all toiletries are provided aswell as slippers . Go snorkeling it’s fab , you can get the gear from the dive centre if you don’t take your own , do it near your villa or take the boat trips which are free twice a day . The food is probably the best all inclusive we have had catering for all nationalities. Brown sauce for the English is there too . Male airport is hot you are not allowed to go through to departures until 3 hours before your departure , take the lounge option when offered when you get back from your seaplane , once through its air conditioned , there’s a large gift shop and duty free and food court and also downstairs there’s more food options and costa coffee . Thi holiday was so relaxing and we loved every minute of it 🥰

In all the islands in Maldives, I believe this might be the friendliest place I've been to so far. I have visited a few other places before coming to Hakuraa, but this was by far the best experience for me. I came to the resort with my friends for a little relaxing getaway. We chose to stay at the private island beach villa and it was as promised, peaceful and quite. Other than the weather, everything was amazing. Staff were great, food was good and the service was amazing. It is unfortunate that we couldn't stay longer, but hopefully this won't be my last visit to Hakuraa.
